Yrel Changes Feedback

I’m a little scared of the Yrel changes as someone who plays her very often.
Weaving divine purpose cooldowns while still managing standard charges gives her an extremely fun spell/auto weaving playstyle that I love and i’m worried that she will change pretty dramatically with these changes. I understand if that’s not what the vision of the character is anymore but it just sucks seeing a character’s rotations change so drastically after years of being able to play this character with the fun timings and cooldowns she has now.

I’m also worried about her talent tree now. I appreciate the hand of freedom nerf but now gift of the naaru at lvl 4 will be unpickable with a doubled cooldown of divine purpose- that was one of my favorite talents in the game especially with velen’s chosen and divine favor (I’m also worried about the balance implications with these talents as well especially with no changes done to them). I’m worried that with the hammer stun increase the extremely dominant yrel playstyle will be righteous momentum and templar’s verdict, which are now relatively much stronger with the smaller quantities of divine purpose uses.

With the higher burst potential of the character I imagine her playstyle will become a more hit and run hammer playstyle instead of the ‘sticky paladin’ that she was allowed to be on live with talents like sacred ground, maraad’s insight, velen’s chosen, holy wraith. Hopefully I’m wrong but seeing no talent changes to reflect the new drastically different divine purpose cooldown worries me a lot.

I also don’t understand the cooldown reduction on getting interrupted. I understand it’s to help the playstyle where she actually charges her abilities but I’m worried that it’s gonna become optimal to get vindication interrupted on purpose to get more hammer/ avenging wraith instant uses and that feels weird to me to even consider as an option.

I do like the concept of making her abilities more impactful individually to reflect the heavyweight playstyle but I think that would require more of a real rework than 2 small talent nerfs and number changes on her abilities.

She has had a lot of buffs.

  1. Her Q deals more damage and heals more
  2. Hammer is now a 1 second stun, and deals more damage.
  3. E now deals more damage and slows by 60%. That’s a big buff.
  4. All basic abilities lowerd to 50 mana (Used to be 65)
  5. E can now be used when you’re rooted. This is a big buff. Now nothing but a stun can remove your mobility. And stuns don’t last as long as roots.

(Oh and the trait CD is now 12 seconds, not 16)

Since some game changes are being made because of ARAM, I do wonder how much of that is a consideration in the ptr this time.

I know I’ve had some games of picking Yrel specifically to be a substitute healer when one isn’t otherwise available, and that makes a pretty big difference in non-healer/shielder games.

I’m still having the time of my life https://streamable.com/7m5dat

I can’t go oom.

It’s 50% longer CD, not 100%.

Sacred Ground should be mandatory now. Resetting D for free every 25s is very valuable. In a short instance, gift didn’t decrease in value. You can still heal Ana for 46% of her HP in 0.3s that comes in clutch.

Yet another proof that her changes are unhealthy…

Ardent Defender is currently twice as popular as SG, but lower WR.

I don’t believe people will mostly pick SG next patch, but I’m here encouraging it.

AD needs to be 20s lower CD if we don’t consider popularity.

It’s an approachable adjustment that would even out the whole new patch.

I also though the cool down was going to be painfully long, but after playing a round, it really wasn’t that different to me. I do need to mentally adjust some of my timings, but that needed to happen anyway.

I do not know what filters you used, but the WR (winrate) difference between AD and SG knocks the PR (pickrate) difference out of the water. It is already the better ult.

Dia+ and since her last change. (2.55.5)

https://www.heroesprofile.com/Global/Talents/Yrel?timeframe_type=major_grouped&timeframe=2.55.16,2.55.15,2.55.14,2.55.13,2.55.12,2.55.10,2.55.9,2.55.8,2.55.7,2.55.6,2.55.5&game_type=sl&league_tier=Master,Diamond&statfilter=win_rate&build_type=Unique%20Lvl%201&mirror=0

Big time lapse ensure recent plays from OTPs don’t affect too much data.

The most popular build(bottom page) is at 50% WR, which is a bit low for dia+.

With all of these changes, I expect Yrel to gain around 3% WR and have a good talent diversity.
