Your top 5 worst heroes in hots list

I would like to see everyone share their list of what they believe is the top 5 worst heroes and why. Here is mine.

  1. Murky. This character just has not aged well at all. His octograb can be useful in certain situations and certain team comps but outside that he is very easy to counter with most heroes and his lane push is pretty meh. Definitely needs a facelift.

  2. Nova. Nova feels damn near useless to me. Even when she gets kills that’s all she is really good for. Another hero that just has not aged well. They’re much better assassins out there that can get kills and actually do siege damage. God help you if she takes precision strike over triple tap.

  3. Abathur. This one is tough because a good Abathur player is actually really effective and with good hats can save teamates, get kills, and do a good amount of healing. The problem is 99% of Abathur players don’t do any of that. They position themselves very poorly, don’t take mule, and barely ever hat any people. Most of the time they just end up being a liability and you feel like your down a player all game.

  4. The Lost Vikings. They just feel so worthless and most players just have no clue what they are doing with them. Both of their heroics are very underwhelming. They end up being a huge liability in team fights towards the end of the game. I would like to say this character could use a rework and some love but I just think they way its built that it can’t be saved.

  5. Probius. Oh poor Probius hate to pick on you but you just had to make this list. This character feels of no threat whatsoever. No one will ever see a Probius and think oh no it’s Probius what are we going to do. His kit has been reworked and still is so easy to kill and counter. Much better lane pushers out there and both his heroics feel really on the weaker side.

Well there you have it that is my top worst heroes list. Sorry if your favorite character is on here :frowning: . This has just been experiences with the game . Let me know what you all think.

as in balance wise?

every single one of these characters has a positive winrate except maybe nova

EDIT: to state my own opinions, Nova Butch Chen Mal’Ganis and Sgt. Hammer are all easily exploitable.

Out of your 5 heroes I only agree that Nova need some help, but I wouldn’t want a big rework for her as I like her playstyle. The rest is fine as they are.

I don’t provide a list of my worst heroes as this is pretty subjective and I don’t want heroes to be changed, because of subjective matter. I love Hots for it’s diversity of heroes. I would rather see new heroes than changes to old ones.

You’re right, but even this heroes have their moments, when you know how to use them or in certain comps.

Sure, but Sgt. Hammer is like, soft countered by everything

  • Kel’Thuzad (Well you see sometime very good Ktz players that look OP but when you get one bad ktz in your team, it’s… really really bad.
  • Arthas even though I like him, he struggle a lot in comparison with most tanks
  • Morales? Very niche, must have good protection, hope ennemies don’t have too many divers, struggle to heal multiples allies, her healing power is not even that great.
  • Yrel? Feel like she never really do anything special, unless the player is hard time one trick.
  • Maybe Varian? He’s not that bad but not that great of a tank imo. Maybe I don’t see enough good Varian players.
  1. All OW heroes.
  2. Hogger
  3. Lunara
  4. Chromie
  5. Kael’Thas

I literally wouldn’t mind any or all of them being entirely removed from the hero selection.
Just putting it out there Devs, if you ever consider it. Know that I would support it

He’s a baby for fish’s sake! But I do agree he and Nova need some rework.

But in all seriousness, I would disagree on Probius. You cannot ignore Probius due to the amount of sheer siege damage he can dish out. A lot of players ignore his waveclear potential and his team can get ahead fast. He’s also no slouch in teamfights if he can set up first, zoning people away with W and E and still doing massive sustained damage with Q.

My personal list balance-wise would be:

  1. Butcher (too inconsistent as an ally)
  2. Li Li (too inconsistent of a healer)
  3. Nova (only does one thing adequately)
  4. Arthas (too niche and generally undertuned)
  5. Valeera (really annoying, but lackluster at the same time)

The Lich King has been my favorite character since i first played Warcraft 3 when i was 6, continued to play the game for almost 10 years. When HoTS came out i was super excited to play him, but soon after i started gravitating towards other heroes and when Alarak came back dropped every hero and played him for loads of games (now 1900 games). I keep coming back to Arthas here and there, but i only got about 250 games on him(about 50 more pre-alpha purge, they reset EVERYTHING) and yet i just don’t find him fun at all.

I’ve played WoW over the years also, although total gameplay time spent on it… maybe full 5 months over the years. In Shadowlands when Death Knight was changed to require a lvl 8 char and then play as lvl 8 forwards(meaning you don’t get a lvl 55 DK to suddenly learn a bazillion abilities at once), i absolutely loved Unholy Death Knight(i tried all the specs, but ohh Unholy so fun), i stopped after a month or so due to playing via Chromie Legion was really lackluster because the whole Artifact weapons were just cosmetic now, even though i was playing the Legion expansion…(wtf WoW people, if you let me go play a previous campaign, then let me play it like it was not this completely stripped version…).

Anyways The Lich King is the true master Necromancer(Ner’Zhul) and Death Knight(Arthas) bar none by absolute power and experience. Even from watching WoTLK raid fight he isn’t a pure frost DK, so my gripe with Arthas is why is he 100% Frost DK !?!?(Death Coil is shared by all specs). In Warcraft 3 all DKs were pure Unholy, Arthas in HoTS is pure Frost minus Army of the Dead which does 0 and again 0 damage, it’s been glorified into a self heal thing that isn’t really that great since his max hp isn’t even that great, therefore he can be bursted down real easy.

Arthas is just a immobile guy with decent melee damage and okay sustain, with CC being… pretty horrible. Wau a ranged root that is harder to hit than Muradin’s stun which is a STUN! and way more impactful. His root only starts to be more Lich King like if you take Frost Presence talent and complete it fully, only then does his CC become pretty good, but still no way the best. His talents overall are pretty crap and arranged in a weird order. If they gave Arthas Frost Presence as baseline quest, it wouldn’t make him OP or that strong at all, and if they gave it to him completed he still wouldn’t be the best tank.

To me Arthas has always been more of a bruiser, which they later changed to a tank because of their HGC and “moving towards other MOBAs” bullsht move, and thus gutting his damage, and barely improving his tanking capabilities at all, he is the lowest winrate tank in the game bar none. Playing him is almost always lack luster and un fun, especially if you take the Frost Presence talent which kind of FORCES you to spam the root over and over to complete it as early as possible, which leads to some very poor plays. And if you don’t try to complete it, then good luck CCing anything with your amazing CC without it.

Also Deathwing got such epic treatment, so many abilities, so well developed, so epic. And here comes Arthas a Frost DK. If they spent all that time and MONEY that they did on HGC on actually improving existing heroes and bringing new ones, this game would of been WAY more popular.

The ghouls actually deal some damage by attacking.

I think they made it slower because it hits in an AoE (When it hits)

The ghoul damage was always so low that it didn’t matter. And sure maybe that was their reasoning for the AOE root, but the AOE is so small that it’s completely unjustified especially since root is pretty weak compared to stun.

Like it could of been more balanced between them if the NUMBERS were better on Arthas, but they aren’t. Also, is anyone scared of Arthas coming at you playing as a non tank/bruiser hero ? What about Muradin ? Anub’Arak ? I couldn’t care less about Arthas, if he misses his root, which is very easy for him to do and you to micro dodge it, that’s it, no more threat from him. Muradin can jump at you to gap close and then slow, ult you into the other team, Anub’Arak dive stun you etc.

Hm.
1., Zarya. I apparently have a majestic 15.79% winrate with her, and being in the support category I roll her relatively lot. Guess I’m trying to support too much? I’ve recently won a match 4v5 with an AFK, maybe doing literal nothing with her would improve results? (I do fairly okay with Medivh despite never completing the baseline.)
2., Illidan. I don’t play him much but even thus I have the memory of doing 500 damage by level 10 once, being bullied behind the gate. I feel I’m getting better over the years, but still 0% winrate. Forecast: I’ll score a win in 2026.
3., Anduin. I have no idea. 2:10, I press buttons, but apparently that’s not enough. I recently figured I must AA heroes specifically. Still! If strong Q+W spam isn’t enough, then he is not a healer but a root bot. Or I’m just unlucky.
4., Whitemane. I did enjoy her previous iteration, kind of, even though I wasn’t good. But the current one, oh boy. Just like Anduin, I figured I should probably frontline and auto attack more like on Valla while also managing to click my teammates. It was fine until about level 10 when we started a brutal feed streak. Is she a bad Malfurion? No heels unless ARAM.
5., Cassia is a hero I really enjoyed playing and felt delivering some results. 0:8 is a result. She is in exile. I hope I’ll win the next random roll, I like blondes.
6., Raynor. I have a consistent 30% winrate on him. I really tried to give him practice time. I kept shooting but it didn’t do anything to heroes. Had one massive PvE carry as my first match, ever since it’s obvious so they’d always invade and kick his butt. Exiled to another galaxy.
7., Sonya is a hero I occasionally enjoy in QM, but her SL rating is 1598. I suppose she’s the same as Illidan, needs to be bold to bully and also generate health, and her balance lies in being ahead by a level and having Abathur.

Out of the heroes I know this is my tier list going from worst to best
1 - The vikings boat
2 - Baelog
3 - Recall Totem
4 - Eric
5 - Olaf

I think Valeera is great when not against a full premade. :slightly_smiling_face:

Arthas
Whitemane
Dehaka
Arthas
Whitemane

I think they even buffed their attack at some point

If I’m playing Kerrigan and Qhira yes I won’t be the first going into an Arthas. Maybe not as afraid as a Muradin or Anub, but at least they don’t perma slow my MS and AS.

Arthas is misunderstood a lot, he’s one of the few that looked upon as bad in the tank role but he also just simply feels a niche, I sure he does quite obnoxiously well into (not ur average plat and below but a scary) Kerrigan that he could be considered a hard counter to her.

Even some of the mentioned heroes are fine, TLV is built around but at the end of the day a competent 4 man can do all it takes to snowball the early game.

And probius in the right hands can be both a threat if you know how to zone and prepare yourself beforehand.

I actually really enjoy murky. He can insta clear a wave and can just keep lanes pushed whenever there is a team fight. Rather than doing meh dmg on a fort is better to just kill the incoming wave. The only map this doesn’t work well on is Towers.

Murky if played right makes some of the crazies games because his carry is so so funky and confusing for your team makes (eg: “how are we still in this?”

Really the only heroes I groan over when I see them on my team are nova and butcher.
Of course any of them when played with a skilled player also do well either way. Like if I know the nova on my team is a good player, I’m a happy camper.
Their toolset is just very underperforming that’s all.
