Xp changes, Another thread #2

So its been about one week and the flurry of xp threads has gone down quite a bit, as well as more and more people coming out to support the change.

Ive been spamming zag, have had alot of games where i get bullied out early on but stay focused on farming lanes with nydus around teamfighting at objectives.

Once the objectives start rolling, have caught up and surpassed in xp leading to a turn around and come back victory. Pretty cool.

I played a few games as sylvanas. She seems unimpacted by the changes.

But the inportant thing isnt my personal gameplay, its how it is effecting the flow of the match!

It certainly has seemed to slow down the pace of games as clearing a lane takes a few more seconds. Also, good teams are delaying the objective waiting for even numbers.

It has created less deathballs as people are reconigzing the importance of soak.

It seems to have made lane pressure more important. With players beginning to reconigze the importance of soak, they go to clear a big wave creating a numbers opportunity for the team with more map pressure.

The 5~ extra seconds it takes to clear each wave has seemed to make it easier to read the minimap and understand what opportunities you may have

Being able to read the minimap easier presents you with impactful choices! Do you counter soak and let your team 4v4 or do you push the 5v4 advantage?

Obviously these tactics were in play prior to the changes but now they are more obvious to the entire team.

Slower soakers arent getting spammed to help in teamfights because deathballers didnt see the enemy KT on the minimap for a split second as he flamestrikes a wave and moves on, arriving to the teamfight late, albeit earlier than their own soaker.

Tldr: its workingggg

I agree with OP for most part. Do Wish certain hero’s who were hurt the most by this change are given change to help. Like if Azmodan globe picked them up and the variety of possibilities people have proposed with abba. And maybe a slight tweak to help make it a better option against snowballing teams. So far I’ve had good experience with adjusting team play around extra exp to counter oppressive team fight teams but I have seen some posts about snowballing. I think given time and adjustments it’s a change that will take time to be good. It’s just like how tons of people who did(and some still do) complain about hots 2.0!

I feel like if you’re playing Zag, as long as you put creep down where it can’t be easily cleared without you autoing them for a while (behind your minion wave on the upper and lower side so as not to randomly get AoE’d), you can have a pretty significant patch of ground to work with where your AA range is bonkers and you can easily wear down the lane opponent to the point where they can’t stop you from getting exp globes without being forced to tap/hearth just for entering your range, even if they’re able to trade with you. Between Zag W and AA, she should still be dominating most early game lanes and it should be the enemy having a hard time stepping up to you to get their globes. Just dont’ clear the wave, focus everything on them and their towers unless the matchup involves outclearing them.

Lol what? No one is supporting it more and the posts have died because we have said all we want to say. I don’t know why you think we all have changed just because we are not spamming it’s bad.

The change is bad and will cause people to leave once they announce they are permanent.

Flurry of threads has not gone done, see you just opened a new one because of how other threads have grown and you feel the need for others to read your opinions. It’s just that everyone who that had something to contribute does not wish to repeat themselves 10 times and that the community is pretty divided in their opinions over it.

If you’ve been spamming Zagara, and only played a few games on Sylvanas, it’s not possible that you have acquired a clear picture of what the changes entail.

Try providing better arguments rather than screaming louder, which is what I think you’re trying to achieve by opening a separate thread. It’s hard to take you seriously this way.

The entire change to globes is exploiting the presence of DW. He keeps people away from globes and gathers all because he is so freaking big. QM games without a DW mirror are averaging 3 levels in favor of DW team due to this idiocy. Had one game today where the DW team had a 5 level lead coming to the end.

If you had a better grasp at the game mechanics, you’d realise how his size is at the same time working for and against himself.

The hero is not a problem, but I believe that his core design had a strong influence on certain details over how the xp globules work in practice. He is forcefully required to leave the battleground every so often and stay airborne to regenerate his health. There are periods of 10 seconds where he is not able to react, and being airborne prevents him from soaking experience, which can over time manifest itself with a significant amount of xp deficit.

This would explain why the xp globes are allowed to spawn in the first place with no hero present nearby, and why they have a 5-6 second delay before despawning.

Although I personally dislike the changes, I don’t believe that DW would be able to function properly with the old established rule set of xp soak mechanics. I don’t support them breaking the game in favor of a new hero addition either.

Thread of 10000 years of hatred.

If that was what they wanted, they shouldnt have increased the movement speed by 10%.

As far as i can tell, they wanted to achieve the following:

  • Make soaking more visible (to learn newer players of its existance)
  • Make soaking appear more rewarding (so people actualy soak)
  • Make passive soaking by staying behind the gate less rewarding (because it appears ‘boring’)
  • Make soaking more of a duel in a lane (so a 1v1 becomes more interesting)

The first 2 they succeeded in, the last one they failed heavily in. There is no soaking duel in a 1v1 when 1 of them is a nova which simply cant go in. And with that, it shouldnt be a duel to begin with, the duel that has to go on is about lane pressure. By making heroes like nova unable (which rely on passive soaking), you essentialy only have a duel by placing someone in the lane that can duel a nova. And with that, passive soaking is the way a team that is behind can get their XP that they needed without taking excessive risks.

This whole change has massive design flaws because the heroes were not designed for this system in the first place. And it good they werent designed for it, the old system was simply well designed that it wasnt needed to make all heroes able to solo duel in a lane.
In games like LoL and Dota you can compensate with items that at least give you some capabilities for this. But as we dont have those (and im glad about that), it simply doesnt work.

I dont play heroes because it tries to be a dota or lol clone. I play it because it wanted to be diffirent. Each change like this is only making it more and more of the same, and thats just horrible.

With that, even trying to go to such systems makes this game stand even less of a chance to compete. Since why would you go to a game and invest in that game, while that that has less players and is far more likely to die first? If the game was diffirent, there was a reason to switch: fresh gameplay. That should be the USP of hots.

I dont want dota. I dont want lol. When i stop with heroes, i wont switch to those games. If hots is dead, moba’s are dead to me. Its that simple.

This is how stubborn some of the hots players can be. Or players in general (you dont see all starcraft players instantly go to age of empires). Players like certain gameplay aspects, and thats how you attract players.

And thats why the entire changes, no matter how well they will be balanced in the end are still bad. It only makes the game less diffirent and therefor less able to compete and therefor die faster.

Dont think that a player who has invested a lot of money here would invest more if they see the game gets destroyed even faster. They are more likely to save up for its alternative (even if that isnt a moba).

Simple matter is that a miserable QM game option has been made pointless with DW in the game. If no DW mirror in QM then its gg and auto-win for the DW team.

bro I’m sorry but almost everything you “believe” happened following the exp globes thing, it’s only in your head

like bro when you read this :

you know you have no clue what you talk about

finally how can someone have more time to check the minimap when they need to do more stuff than before, like it’s complete non-sense

everything is in your head ma man it’s just interpretation from you based on I don’t know what, fact is almost all you said is bs, sry but it’s the truth

and just to conclude, it’s not working as intended cause I don’t believe the devs team intended to cut some fun and freedom from HotS gameplay, they wanted to make it more interactive but it does not do the job like this since the globes gathering is decided only by heroes capabilities and not skill or gameplay. Not to mention everything it cut from the gameplay we used to love for so long, regarding certain heroes for example like aba & co, and all the exp gaps disparity it put back in the game, and the time lost to gather purple bubbles instead of playing and doing interesting & fun stuff in the Nexus

Enemies spend more time out of fog of war, making it easier to catch a read of their positioning.
