Why this game should NOT become a League of Legends clone

Exactly, because we have enough “dota clones” with Dota 2, League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth, no need for another one with Heroes of the Storm.

Heroes of newerth is popular?

Sadly no, it has the same issues hots has it can’t compete with dota 2 and lol, but it is quite good and fast gameplay like hots, but it’s a dota clone. Dota 2 and LoL are superior to hots or hon, because they were first at market and established themselves, while hots came too late and hon were an indi game from an small developer with low marketing effort.

In a lot of non english speaking countries quite a lot of people actually play it

If the number of people playing defines superiority then Fortnite is better than every multiplayer game out there

You have to take genre into account

But Fortnite is a first person shooter similar to Overwatch, it is not a moba.

And you have to take into account prices too

But the number of people playing should not be an indicator of how good a game is

Only someone who has not even seen Fortnite would say this

The number of players don’t dictate how good a game is, but just how popular, not more not less.

So why google mentioned it as “coop shooter”, if it is not? Just because it has familar elements to moba, doesn’t mean it is one. Look at Smite or Overwatch, both feels like a moba, but still are shooters, because they are 1st person and not in bird’s eyes view like mobas.

The word you used was “Superior” not “Popular”

In terms of Dota 2 and League of Legends being more popular than Heroes of the Storm I agree with you

Because there are shooter games out there other than first person shooters and Fortnite happens to be one of them

And still it is a shooter, not a moba. :stuck_out_tongue:

MOBA stands for Multiplayer Online Battle Arena

It’s Multiplayer

It’s Online

There is Battle in it

And it takes place in one giant Arena

Technically Fortnite fulfills that role literally speaking

But no I was not comparing Fortnite to Heroes of the Storm

My point is that Fortnite far from being a masterpiece but is still massively popular

Technically you are right about the wording, but let’s be honest this wording isn’t accurate in terms of definition how it is been used, because the majority connects this term to games like Dota 2, LoL or Hots. And Fortnite is not comparable to this genre.

But yeah to be precisely it would be probably more accurate to talk about dota-genre and not moba.

I brought Fortnite up only as an example to tell you that being popular is not always a good indicator of how good a game is

I was not trying to tell you that Heroes of the Storm and Fortnite are in the same genre

I hope that clears up the confusion

I know that and in this confusion comes in place, because that you are misunderstood my wording, when I said “dota 2 is superior” and while I thought it was clear in the context I was talking about popularity, I was wrong. So it’s my bad.

Have you ever played Smite? It’s a near-perfect LoL clone (lanes, towers, jungles, individual exp, last-hit gold, shop) in third person.

Calling it a “shooter” in any way, or even suggesting it has any similar elements to a shooter, would be incorrect. “Third-person MOBA” would be more accurate if you absolutely have to delineate.

Monopoly (sure, its not online) is still the #1 most played game. It still beats fortnite.

With that logic I can just tell you that soccer(or another widely played game) is more popular than Fortnite

Because I’m pretty sure a ball is easier to find than a monopoly board

Only a few games, not really much and still it is more like Overwatch than LoL or Hots. Because the difference between third/first and bird’s eye view is huge.

Edit: Based on your arguements then Overwatch can also be counted as moba, sure it don’t has levels or camps, but the gameplay feels like hots with their objective oriented gameplay.

Now that you mentioned it

Overwatch is an arena based shooter with objectives yes

This map was so fun back in the day I truly felt like I was playing Overwatch:

Sadly because of all the League of Legends players who played HGC and whined they have ruined this map
