Why play ranked if you will only use one hero

Ughh, these kinds of people are a cancer on the game. As soon as the game starts, they show a hero and then refuse to use any hero but that hero. Even if the team composition doesn’t work or we need someone to heal, they be like “I just want to play Nova, draft around me.”

If you only wanted to play that one hero, go do QM.

But all gm players main assassin. You should fill… why wont people just tank for me and let me carry with my 46 percent winrate hammer…

The guy that instat picked Illidang against Cassia (the old one) and Johanna:
“GG, bad team.”
True story.

Because I get tired of being the only person who tanks or who heals.

Sometimes I wanna dps – but the problem is most people feel that way.

I wish before you queued in rank, you had to pick heal/support, tank, or dps and then you can only pick from said pool of heroes.

GM’s likely can carry with Assassin nearly every game they play due to the high solo impact of most assassins.

The problem is, as you said - every Tom and Harry out there in Silver 4 to every other league thinks the exact same way. And they don’t carry, and they have 41% win ratio on said assassins.

I never understand why I see more tank, bruiser or healer main and around player in unrank than the rank mode. Every time I play rank mode, I team up with 4 assassin main.

I think the true carry is the tank. Most of the good engaging start with the tank. When the ally tank outplays the enemy tank, the fight will go very smoothly.

Maybe if healers and tanks were fun to play I’d use them more.

I don’t blame assassin only players. The mindset between playing an assassin and playing a tank are complete opposite. Instinctually when playing a tank I’ll play like a ranged assassin. I don’t want to take damage for the team, but that leads to me giving up ground to the enemy.

This is why the tank/bruisers are one mindset, and everyone else who are squishy is the second mindset group. You literally have to play against your instincts if you cross between roles. If you’re the rare person who can shift between both roles, then good for you. Your team comps will always be that much better. This is equivalent to playing support in LoL. They don’t last hit unlike any other role, they need to support everyone else and not themselves, and that mindset is completely different than the other roles. That mindset is more when playing enchanters and traditional supports, not kill lane mage supports because their scaling is also high enough to be another carry in that game

If they only want to play that one hero, you might as well let them. They probably suck at other heroes, and you’d be worse off potentially.

Also, maybe it’s just me, but I’ve had great success playing with Nova one tricks more often than not. If they know a hero, honestly who is it really harming, even if it’s not the optimal pick. If they have like a 60% win rate, are you going to be the one to whine that you might be in the 40%?

Now if they auto lock a hero they’re bad at, that one always confuses me lol.

If you are balls to the walls amazing at a hero, that’s one thing. But I’ve seen people who are just practicing a new hero in ranked. Gross!

because
you engage team doesnt follow up you die
you engage manage to get in backline and bring down the healer team cries about rear line peels and berates you

you engage but stay back to peel team cries about you not diving healer and lockin down with cc

you wait to engage from a follow up ult GG TANK IS PASSIVE WE LOSE REPORT

you can’t win with this community lol

Those aren’t one tricks though. That’s a separate issue from one tricks who are assumed good at the hero

I am a three trick and would really suffer if I was forced to use a certain amount of heroes before being able to rank

My exp 99% of the otp are horrible at thier otp. That 1% is amazing

Unless you were unanimously voted to be the leader of the team, you have no right to say about the choice of other players. Just focus on your performance and leave other people to do their parts.

See the issue with that sentiment is, it does become my problem if that player is a burden. It becomes the whole team’s problem because we all rise or fall together. Team game. If someone selfishly chooses to play their own game while the rest of us are taking the game seriously, that is a fast way to get yourself mass-reported.

If it’s not your fault you lose, then you’ll eventually climb while the “bad” one tricks lose over many games

Only in HOTS will you see players using teamplay as an argument against one tricking. Assume you have 50 hours to practice heroes for ranked. Under the jack of trades, you use a few hours for many heroes, while the OTP uses one hero for 50 hours. Both of you trained the same amount of time.

Even if the OTP was bad, he still would have been bad playing other heroes. In fact, he would have been worse at any one hero. The only consolation prize to the team is he “tried” to help the team by playing many heroes but mastered none

The only wrench in the calculations is the odds of that one hero being banned. I’d advise one tricks to be three tricks as the odds of your three heroes being banned is slim to none if you let your team know not to ban the three

Me? Yes. Though I rarely play her in ranked unless I know I can trust my team to fill all the other important roles (which they usually can’t, everyone wants to be a mage.)

Okay thats a good thing!

If the team is cooperative in the draft then i will be cooperative too.

If there are uncooperative players who instalock their fail pick then i also just play what i want. At this point i don’t care if we get a tank or healer.

We should not carry such players…
