I always had this on my mind and there’s no way I’m the only one who has thought of this but, why not change the game design from a MOBA (like LoL/Dota) to 6v6 Overwatch style objectives like Control, Escort, Flashpoint etc with a 222 format or 8v8 WoW batteground blitz with 1 max tank, 2 max healers?
The things like leveling could be similar to how perks are earned in Overwatch. The new game mode could even allow character swaping like in Overwatch or you’re locked in to your character like WoW blitz.
I haven’t played HOTS in a long time, so forgive me. There are so many cool characters and skins so I would love to see this game come back to life. I just think this is a good idea.
The maintenance team consists of regular admins who are at most capable of modifying existing damage numbers, HP values and various timers, talents or other text within the client.
The people who programmed the game created their own company with Mike Morhaime (co-founder of Blizzard) over 5 years ago (Dreamhaven) and left Blizzard.
HotS is a legacy game like SC2 or Diablo 2, so it’s not getting new game modes or anything beside routine maintenance and talent reworks/number tweaks.
(However if modders on youtube were able to make new playable heroes on their private server, surely the maintenance team could do that in theory)
I also think the game is only able to handle a certain number of heros at the start of the game. You can see it in testing mode, when you change the enemy in front of you, the game is taking a bit of time charging the next hero and his skills, which also create a small freeze.
I’m not totally certain how it works but what i meant is the game is only loading what is necessary, there would probably be issue in performance loading all the characters at the same time. It might be related to how the game is coded maybe.
would you think, at this point, they could allow modders to go wild? open the game up and let people create something new? that’s how we got DOTA from WC3…
