This hero is so weak when it comes to others bruisers in the game !!! he need a lot of fix and buffs or maybe a REWORK !!!
Naw, there arenāt any bad heros in the game, you just need to L2P.
Ill give you some tips:
- Malth can do camps faster than anyone. On camp heavy maps, you want to go: On a Pale Horse for your lvl 1 pick. He can do brusier camps just fine at lvl 2 solo.
- He can clear and multi lane with the best.
- Get your rotation down. See the two points above and rotate. (IE clear lane 1, then do a camp, then lane 2, then back to lane 1).
- Donāt do the same build each game. Do your build based on who you are up against. Your level 13 talent is key here.
Because you canāt stop death? I donāt think Malth is weak compared to other bruisers, but like Ragnaros, he lacks hard CC, so he is more niche, but in draft modes, he can fill that niche nicely.
I donāt think he needs a full rework, but Black Harvest/Tormented Souls/Memento Mori need buffs or a rework, and donāt even get me started on the āupgradeā for Tormented Souls.
Heās in the game because heās āiconicā, has a unique silhouette, has a workable reference for making a kit, and stands out in his IP for product sales.
However, he tends to straddle the useless/op line due to his percentage damage and having a design, and remake, that were between different goals for the game. They could probably slap a āmelee assassinā label on him for funsies as he doesnāt have the hard cc most bruisers can take while having less-safe sustain in his kit.
There are bruisers that Malthael will not trade well with, such as Leoric (who can out heal him), Artanis (who can out sustain him with shields) and Imperius (who can out damage him). However there are also a lot of heroes that will not trade well against Malthael such as any hero without life sustain (his constant percentage damage), any hero relying on armor (percentage damage), any hero relying on large health pool (percentage damage) and any hero without a teleport escape (teleport chase skill).
The main issue Malthael has, which can make him feel weak, is that he has low tier escape. Once Malthael is in combat it is very difficult to get him out of combat as even the slightest slow or CC will prevent it. Given he is a dive orientated hero this is a major problem and means a lot of skill is required to know when to dive (can escape or escape not needed) and when not to.
Back in the days he was drafted to counter double frontline comps. Now he is just lane minion that have been nerfed over the years.
Malthael is imho a hard to balance Hero in a way like Zera or Samuro (an surely other heroes aswell) were if the player is bad they go like 8+ deaths but if the player is good (and/or in a match with little CC) they can dominate the match. Now Buffing Malthael can make him Oppresive to Players who cannot deal with him either because they donāt know how to play against him or they donāt have the CC to counter him.
With all that being said I do believe that increasing his starting health by like 200-300 hp (rougly Dehakas HP) without changing anything else could be a first step in a series of buffs tweaks or even reworking him
I miss assassin Malthael dearly. I hate what they reworked him into.
But, heās not useless, just a little underpowered and niche.
Malth can solo camps, but he doesnāt exactly do it fast. If the enemy bruiser is paying attention, they can come find you and steal it from you.
He CAN work, but a lot of times you want someone else. He has some useless talents, and Tormented souls is often useless. Iāve never felt that I needed help applying my trait to enemies.
Malthael wins against Artanis. Donāt take away one of his few good matchups.
Against Thrall though, you are kind of screwed.
The fact that there are few of these is probably why Malth is unpopular.
This would be a good change. He feels very squishy for a ābruiserā, and while he has sustain, heās sustaining a low health pool and doesnāt seem to do a good job at outlasting incoming damage at the moment.
tormented souls needs help
He used to be an animal back in the day but they really tuned him down. Unfortunately, whereas before he could get into all but the most heated of situations he now struggles fighting a lot of the roster 1 on 1 due to various reasons that others mentioned previously. Nevermind engaging more than one hero at a time while having rather low health for a bruiser and relying heavily on Soul Rip to keep himself alive.
Any type of displacement can screw him over. Any amount of spell reduction can screw him over. Any amount of healing reduction screws him over. Just mean mugging Malthael screws him over.
Even in vs A.Iāin my experience at leastāusing him against veteran/elite A.I is a good way to sit in timeout/be useless for a good chunk of the match unless the bot team has absolutely no one that can ruin Malthaelās day. Even against adept he can be rough to play as. However, that could just be a skill issue on my part in the A.I ballpit, but in the last 200 matches only one other player picked him.
What are you talking about? He shreds camps and can alternate between them faster than anyone else (w/ pale horse). Who else can do a bruiser camp at level 1 or 2?
Also anyone can steal a camp if they are paying attn, so mute point.
- What is Malthaelās health total after taking a bruiser camp?
- Almost everyone captures siege camps faster than Malthael.
If youāre Malthael and you walk into Artanis taking a camp, he can defend it (He doesnāt win in every scenario, but he can). If itās the opposite, Malthael canāt. Thereās almost no situation where you can defend your camp. And youāll have used most of your mana.
Tell me youāve never played Malthael without telling me you havenāt played Malthael.
malth goes for the hard camps (aoe clear, so more targets the better;) thatās his claim to fame on clearing them early.
The general advise for malth for the last few years is either double-soaking or solo lane + merc. With the xp orb decay it can be harder to hold two lanes and get a merc alone without losing soak, but at select moments on the map, if he has the time, he has the early edge for taking camps compared to most heroes.
However, comparable heroes for solo/double/merc have cc that he doesnāt, so heās fallen out of favor for holding lanes when āeasierā heroes have a simpler contribution.
Youāre neither answering the question nor refuting the statment.
Well you cant expect him to show actual proof casue that would be too hard.
looking back over previous topics, it isnāt uncommon for players to mention camps, but the visibility of it does seem to be lacking.
Of the guide videos Iāve skimmed over, they end up talking about things, but most of the replay is strictly lane control (double soaking, avoiding ganks, using W to dodge skillshots,) and they end up not taking any camps alone while theyāre talking. I might see other guides/replays with mercs, and they talk about methods and timing, but of those I havenāt seen them use malth, or only mention that he could do it.
Disconnected reference, but hereās one on āmap pullingā from ages ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsiCCV8_tGg
the example is rehgar on the test map, and heās lvl 13, but the idea (not explicitly stated in the video to apply to malph) is to kite the mercs with slight movements so all 4 knights canāt hit you at once while you aoe them down.
Other mercing bruisers donāt bother with that (eg sonya, hogger) so if people arenāt moving in their camp clear, their time it takes them to aoe the targets, and the damage they take may be different than what people talk about, but rarely seem to show.
(added note: malth isnāt my jam, so I donāt have replays of my own that Iām going to look over on his merc techniques)
It takes like 22 sec for a hard camp from lvl 1.
Heās one of the fastest.
