Why is there No Option for HUD Size?

I’ve been playing the game since its 2nd year but I’ve been shifting from HotS to LoL and vise versa.

Its only now that I noticed that in LoL, they give you the option to reduce the size of the HUD; why can’t HotS also implement this feature as well?
Just now I finished a match as a healer and I found it really infuriating that I can’t see the top of the screen and the bottom right due to the hero re-spawn timers and the map.

I understand that the HUD looking like this can make the game look more authentic when compared to LoL, but this game shouldn’t really be compared to it just because it is another MOBA.

A simple solution is to just give the player the option for a smaller HUD. It is the player’s choice to choose whether the HUD is in the way or not.

Its hard to believe this change would be too hard to make, but if for some reason its impossible, just give us the option for a Pro-HUD. Where the HUD is simplistic and contains only the vital information.
I hardly believe the map should be that big, and for the re-spawn timer to be that distracting.

A lot of resources was poured into the development of the current HUD. It changed many times over the years to be what it currently is.

I think you can make the minimap transparent. At the very least you can enable click through so it does not prevent user interaction.

UI at top of screen is kind of important as it shows key stats like health, mana, ultimate cooldowns, e.t.c. The only thing I do not like about it is that you cannot use it to quick cast object target abilities like you could use hero portraits in StarCraft II and Warcraft III. The number of times I have seen a Tracer or Genji die because I could not hit them with my cursor to heal them…

Who needs a mini-map anyway?

Personally, if it was able to be reduced in size, I think a lot of people enable that functionality and continue to be oblivious to what’s going on outside of their own character.

I would love to be able to view Hots in mega wide screen, someone somehow enabled this and posted a screen capture (it might have been Lucifer). When I see old clips of Hots from the early days before they increased the amount you could zoom out, I’m not sure how I managed with such a cramped field of view.

Well, it was the same for everyone

Related fluff story, I first played Total Annihilation on 800x600 or somesuch, on some entry level computer + monitor. I was struggling. A few years later I returned in 1920x1080 and it’s a literal breeze. Awareness is bliss. I kinda want to hook it up to my 4k TV and see the entire battlefield

I like to reduce UI size in WoW, except sometimes I don’t. It feels too dashboardy. As far as Heroes goes, the intent is to keep it equal for everyone, so that there isn’t any competitive advantage.

You said a lot of odd things but i’ll just comment on this:

Not really. They have always made UI’s to be annoying and tedious. I would love to sit down with the UI designers and pick their brains apart.

Yes, being able to change the UI to your preference would be nice.

why in the actual hell would you want to make the minimap smaller? that’s such a rookie move. You would want to make it bigger if anything. mini map = information, information = wins. it would be nice to reduce the size of the hotkey bar/abilities but the minimap? no thanks

Vision abilities are also largely useless in this game below ranks like Master for that reason - not many people want to gather info and intel on enemies to better plan their next move that gets them closer to the enemy core.

(That is also one reason why Medivh, the epitome of a scout hero, does so well at high ranks and money tournaments, and why he utterly sucks at low ranks and has an abysmal win rate there)

Lots of people would completely disable minimap, watchtowers or anything that gives them a significant advantage when properly used but gives no tangible, instant benefit like exp, mercs, damage or health.

Remember, the average player just wants to shoot flashy abilities at other fantasy heroes with their favorite Blizzard character. They don’t really think much further than that.
