Why does Illidan have no health and do next to no dmg? I remember back when he was a little too good, but as of right now he is entirely useless. Kharazim can out dmg him and be a presence on the battlefield.
Because he’s the Chen of Assassins.
I also don’t understand why they made Chen so bad. To be really tanky he has to STAND STILL, and to top it off it is a channel so he can be stunned out of it easily. The devs really know how to ruin people who can be dealt with.
Are you taking Battered Assault and Blades of Azzinoth? Those make him hit for 600 damage an auto attack by level 16.
I grabbed the quest and the basic attack passive silly me, I guess i didn’t know his dmg lies with his W not basic attacks like it used to.
I wouldn’t say next to no dmg. His damage is fine. He just dies as soon as he tried anything without Abathur or Medhiv.
The good thing is Chen is scheduled for a rework. So, hopefully Illidan will follow suit soon after that.
The main issue with both is how do you balance them in their current state? They are both highly mobile, in terms of sticking to their target. Because they are Manaless (for the most part), there is nothing holding them back, except death. They can chase you down forever. The design just doesn’t work out well. Illidan is a monster in the right team comp, but he sucks pretty much everywhere else. I’ll be interested to see if they do eventually rework him.
Illidan is actually fine and does good damage, but he is really hard to play. You have to be really good at dodging skills, stutter step and learn how to pick your moments.
his main strength isn’t his damage, it is that he can be unkillable and chase you eternally against the right heroes.
He is also a decent splitpusher, with his global ult to join the teamfight.
He is a little on the weaker side as a standalone hero, but he can still be oppressively strong with the right support lol.
His W boosts his auto damage by the way, so making that boost stronger and last longer really helps Illidan.
- people die a lot on illidan when they press Q when they shouldn’t. or because they don’t dodge things, or they use their heroics wrong, or time evasion wrong, or don’t take the right talents.
- take battered assault. unending hatred (aa quest) is just… not as good. Way worse early and still worse lategame, better 1v1s is the only plus it has going for it and I don’t think you really need that in order to make a difference in the game. Battered = best
- don’t spam Q, use it smart by dodging stuff or keep melees off of you when E is down or chasing when you can do so favorably*. start most fights on your mount unless you’re trading in lane or favorably* catching out a squishy
- use W to proc battered and to move sometimes
- use movement to dodge stuff
- walk away from people at angles that encourage them to clump together to swipe back in with W and proc battered.
- watch Felewin
- when you get behind someone with Q/W, bodyblock. Just keep moving in front of them and you’ll be 100x more effective already, make sure to move so that your Q and W block them in their path and just keep on blocking as you auto
- watch Felewin
- battered friendorfoe90%oftime thirstingblade yourchoiceof10 elusivestrike/spellarmor blades of azzinoth90%oftime heroicupgrade
that is how 2 illidonger
Really nice tips. Can I add one more from a friend who play Illidan a lot in master/GM level?
- Engage with W most of the time instead of Q. With friend or foe, your Q is really valuable to get out of bad situations.
From the short period of time I did play Illidan, I either was an unstoppable slaughtering beast, or a complete feeder who just dies away from the team.
Illidan’s definitely a hard hitter. Just too counterable
illidan is fine. if anything i would bring back either unstoppable on q or small shield on e. both would be overkill…
I’m hoping they both get reworked to be bruisers. I’d love to see Illidan’s damage come down and his health go up.
Illidan is a blast to play, but not when you die to getting sneezed on.
So, just requires WAY more effort to be good with, even though there are multiple other heroes who do the same job, if not better, with far less of skill requirement.
In short. Power. Creep.
Pretty much. I always have people telling me “don’t use metamorphosis as an escape.” I just laugh at them because I need it to survive.
Illidan is strong, but he’s map dependent, countered in multiple facets, and requires a proper team comp. Kind of like Butcher.
Are those heroes global camp takers who if unbursted real hard to kill thanks to constant regen, movement, and immunity to auto attacks?
Illidan still has his place, and nobody scales as hard as he does from enablers due to his trait.
Dehaka? Samuro? Varian?
And illidan isn’t global baseline.
Oh, he has his place, alright…there’s just multiple heroes who can occupy that place better than him.
