I don’t get it. Why does he die so much? Is it a low rank thing? I don’t play him, so I don’t understand why he dies as much as he does.

yeah, but for whatever reason, in my games leoric often ends the game with over twice the deaths as anyone else and i don’t know why.
Leoric can die more than others because his in-death time is much lower due to his W in ghost form.
Also, Leoric revives in frontline, and not in the respawn.

Hahahah! I noticed this WAAAAY back after one of those balance patches. They did SOMETHING to Leoric… and ever since then he’s kinda suked.
Whenever i’m up against a team with a Leoric? Things are immedicately somewhat in our favor. Because i know that leoric is gonna FEED like no tomorrow, and spend 27% of the match dead.
Of course the opposite occurs when a Leoric is on my team. I’m like, “OH Crap!!! I guess i better stay glued to this fool or he’s gonna feed the enemy a buffet”.
Dying as Leoric is a part of his sustain mechanic.
At lvl 1, it’s better to die as Leoric than to miss 4 minions worth of xp.

What said Lucifer above is true. But ALSO, many players see no problem in dying with him since he can continue to act (though in a limited way) once dead, and reappears where this player leads him to. This trait is perfect to provoke noobs into feeding. And that is what they do.
How many times did I say “please avoid feeding that way, you give the ennemy XP with that death, plus you deprive us from the presence of a team member (and a tank at that). You should stop believing Leoric is made to die”… and how many time did they answer me: “OF COURSE HE IS. His trait makes him so”.

That’s great if so. But you are in the minority. They might as well whip up an optional, “fast-food type” costume for Leoric. Cause that fool really KNOWS how to FEED a team!

If i was to has it a guess I’d say it’s because a lot of low rank players underestimate his survivability while he’s trying to wraith away

The best Leoric players don’t play for “trait value”, they frequently have 0-2 deaths at the end of the game.
His death gives full exp to the enemy team. It’s not like a Murky or Viking death. Feeding as Leoric is very harmful.
It is common for Leoric’s at lower ranks or MMR to die 15+ times because they assume he is ‘supposed’ to be dead due to his trait (like Tyrael or Uther, neither of which are supposed to feed either, the trait is a last resort).

Some people think that if you play Leoric, dying doesn’t matter.
Which is really bad for a late game character.

Only morons feed as him. I tank a ton of damage with Leo and still only die maybe once or twice a game. I retreat to fountains or base normally like any other hero.
When you accumulate 7-8 early deaths on him, you have single handedly given the enemy 1-2 free levels. Those players ruin his image.

People can die a lot no matter what hero.
I was amazed when people had 10+ deaths as old Tassadar with his Dimensional Shift.

Leoric is allowed to be aggressive early on because of his trait. i’m not saying he should feed, but if you want to have someone die on your team it should be Leoric first.

he is a frontliner and his only “escape” that is not talented leaves his real body behind which is a stationary target, meaning it is ez for people to do alot of damage to it, because you need to make enough distance where they wont just catch up but not take so long that your body is just free to kill.
Also he is a frontliner that doesnt get any extra self sustain until later levels
As well as because of his trait it is better for him to die than someone else, because they have to wait out the full timer and the time it takes to get back while Leoric can reduce his death timer with his W and revives on the frontline, and while dead can give free vision of the enemy team without consequence
