Who's the best 5th for a Cho'Gall team?

Obviously, the first 4 are:
Cho
Gall
Abathur
Auriel

Who’s the 5th though? Zarya? Tass? Tyrael? Ana?

Tlv, any healer, any bruiser.

Aba is bad because you lose even more map presence.

Yup, thts the must pick i think. or dehaka for a bruiser who can split push 2 lanes.
Coz that team is already 2 heroes less as cho-gal is one, n auriel.
3 lanes, 2 heroes = bad story. tlv would fit in perfectly, or murky or dehaka

2nd tank is the best

Remove Aba.

Fill remaining two slots with a ranged assassin and a tank.

You need a tank. It may sound strange but you dont want to rely on cho to be your front line. He’s too high priority a target

I used to play yrell with chogall. Jumping on him giving him his 25 armor.
1 ranged attacker like valla or grey
1 healer

This is such a bad choice which narrows your options…

Is the map 3 or 2 laned?
Imperius, Winblades Varian or other Heroes who can 1v2 especially if sometimes Aba hats them.

Or if 3 laned, maybe TLV. That much meme power cannot be countered :stuck_out_tongue:

Remove abathur replace by guldan
Last spot i could see dehaka or johanna both have good waveclear the first has global the second ruins giant killers

Tank choose: JoJo, ETC or Anub. Upheaval + mash + Twisting Nether = team wipe
Anub is a good choice. Cho and Anub can cover each other’s weakness. and you remove one of Cho’Gall’s counter by having him.
Bruiser: Dehaka, Imperius, Varion (not CS build), Malthael.

The 1st 3 are Cho’Gall and Auriel. So the comp still needs, a solo laner and more CC into the team.

Cho’gall is wrongfully labeled as a tank, Cho is definitely a bruiser.

1 tank, 1 heals that works well with Cho, and 1 flex (usually siege damage.)

The main issue about being on a Cho’gall team is independence of each hero.

I remember I had Cho’Gall party, where the 3rd player was Sonia. She was double soaking, when other 3 heroes (Auriel/Guldan/Cho’Gall) were fighting.

Cho’Gall as solo front liner is bad, but with second one he’s fine.

I have had several people insist on picking Abathur into Cho’gall.

I don’t understand the rationale and I don’t think there is any. To boost his AA speed? Useless. For the close range spike burst? He is doing Ranged Damage most of the time.

Cloning him? You only get Cho’s body with no talents. You can’t even detonate his bomb.

I don’t get it. It is some weird silver misconception.

So… I’ve actually played Cho’Gall comps at the Diamond & Low Master level. We ran a few variations, but the primary comp was:

Cho
Gall
Abathur
Tracer
Morales

Morales was actually better than Auriel under most conditions. However, with Auriel’s recent changes, she may be worth considering again… We also subbed out Tracer for Samuro under some rare situations (where we knew the enemy would just avoid fighting).

Win rate was very high…

Maps?

All 3-lane maps worked fine. Rotations were the most important part.

That explains a lot.
Rotation is almost nonexistent in Gold and below. People may start doing some rotation in Plat. So that comp may not work well in the lower rank.

Sure, you could ban Anub as usual, but what stops a good dive comp especially with Maiev who has “Cocoon” as well?
Or did you ban her as well?

This comp doesn’t look great. Your team barely has PvE, especially against camps.
