Who is the best tank Vs chogal ? (discussion)

Garrosh has his oppressor that reduces 40% spellpower and trows chogall out of position
Mei reduces dmg with W after 7 + avalange. She can also keep chogall slowed on a safe distance
ETC has substain / lockdown
Blaze can slow him with oil for a long time also bunker up when he does a succesful pull towards your allies
Diablo can wrestle him for days
Anub can stunlock/cacoon
Johanna is just overpowered
sorry other tanks but no

Leoric can be effective, but the cruel irony is that they buffed so much mobility into Cho’Gall that he can’t actually do much. Cho can break Drain Hope so easily it’s laughable, and Entomb isn’t that dangerous late game when he can just Molten Block it or w/e.

A single tank won’t be super effective against him. You could argue Stitches with Engorge or Anub’arak with Cocoon would be the best options, though. Ideally, you want to lock him down and kill everyone else, or reduce his healing and hit him with %HP damage.

You see, I used to 1vCho with old Tass. Beam build on old Tass with Force Wall ult could 1vCho very very easily.

Edit for tanks: Anub will boast spell armor against Gall, ETC armor is always good. Garrosh displacing him can be huge. Likewise, so can Mura haymakers.

Anub is probably your best bet thanks to having some decent cc baseline and cocoon to cut off cho’gall’s healer. (Garrosh can also be fun throwing cho’gall over walls)

Anubarak no contest. The 2nd best tank is a good debate though.

Tyrael is ok. A good sanctification can buy other counters time to do their thing. Makes tychus less of a bad pick into chogal.

Arthas is pretty dangerous to Cho’gall too actually especially at level twenty

Almost endless slow and can just root Cho if he tries to use Q to dash away

Blaze has can reduce magic power or AA speed at 13 too.

Blaze is deceptively strong against Cho’gall, but I use an odd build when this happens (always in QM, I draft Anub against him).

1 - New Habits. I want my trait available as much as possible, and the CDR from globes helps. With the insane amount of CC from Gall’s W build, the Unstoppable is invaluable.
4 - Meltdown. 40% damage reduction on CG in a team fight while I have trait up can be strong.
7 - Crossfire.
10 - I usually go Bunker, as he can just zoom out of Combustion unless my team is good with CC.
13 - Suppressive fire. Most of what makes CG scary is ability damage.
16 - I prefer Thermal Protection, but Juggernaut Plating can be good depending on which heroics they take.
20 - Any.

Anub with no contest. Remove CG and kill the healer or whoever is reasonably within reach. That’s 2/5 members out of the fight and they are set up for free follow up once cocoon ends.

I dislike Muradin vs him, he can strike a punch but he lacks the lockdown before 20

Anub I love but at the same time he lacks the substain if the healer is bad

I really miss speedy pants, think you should rather go with the ult upgrades

Anub’arak is worth picking vs. him solely because of being able to make the fight 3v5 for potentially 7 seconds (if enemy has no fast Cocoon openers).

That is usually game over for the other team, unless they have a hero like Ming to quickly open the Cocoon.

I’ll release soon my heroes counters, entirely from stats.
Right now, it says that Garrosh is the best. Then, it’s Stitches, Tyrael, Muradin and Diablo. There’s not a lot of games from Chogall, so the stats are somehow limited.
The worsts are Mal’Ganis and Mei.

Just pick Malganis. GG

I forgot to hit reply but I like your list.

I was typing
Stats doesnt tell me much, with personal stats the guy might be a OTP or a smurf
With global stats they never explain the comp or how good or bad the other guy is. Also if its a group or a individual player.

Medivh has a poor winrate but I never wanna see him against me
Same with a good maeive and garrosh

The advantage about my list is to disregard the average win rate of a hero by substracting it’s own win rate on average match.

Right now, if you go to the matchup section on heroesprofile, it will always show that any counters to heroes are either chogall, TLV, Xul, Orphea, Samuro and Rexxar,. But, that’s because they’re the best heroes, not specifically a great counter. That’s why you see in my list that Nova counters more heroes than we think.

Also, the more stats we have in a control environment(high elo, +lvl10), the better it is. Smurfs or OTP will influence the data, but they’re not the only ones.

Medivh is countering: Uther, The Butcher, Leoric, Varian and Arthas.
But, countered by: Sgt. Hammer, Lt. Morales, Valeera, Qhira,

Maiev is countering: Sgt. Hammer, Zarya, Kel’Thuzad, Zagara and Chen.
But, countered by: Murky, Alexstrasza, Abathur, Fenix.

Would you agree?

Surprisingly Thrall would be a good candidate, he has 3 percentage based damage options:

Rolling Thunder 3% per auto attack over 6 seconds after being hit by chain lightning @ 1

Ancestral Wrath @7 15% over 3 seconds, and heals thrall for 150% of damage

Alpha Wolf @16 3% over 3 seconds wolf root increased by 1.5 seconds.

after 16 he’s hitting like a truck on any tank.

But he’s not a tank.
