Whitemane Rework Fix Thread

As it would go down in the feedback thread, here a thread for suggesions how to fix the Whitemane rework. Feel free to add suggestions for improvement or your own version.

Base

    • Now available baseline
    • Now costs 75 Mana

Talents

For her mana management there are essentially two positions to take:

  1. She should be baseline mana hungry, and getting refunds should cost something. Following this there are the options of either making a mana tier before 10 that has an option for all four builds (Q, W, E, basic attack) or a single trait-bound option before 10 that works with any build.
  2. She should be able to restore her mana in any way, so there need to be mana restoration options baseline either on the trait or for each ability separately.

I´ll be going with position one for this post.

    • Unwavering Faith
      • Moved from Level 4
      • Added Functionality: Additional cost for Desparation stack reduced to 50.
    • High Inquisitor
      • Moved from Level 4
      • Changed Functionality: Refund Mana and decrease cooldown depending on stacks of desparation.
    • Indulgence
      • Moved from Level 4
      • Added Functionality: Mana refund depending on stacks of Desparation
    • [New Talent] - Scarlet Wrath
      • Basic Attacks against enemy Heroes increase the duration of Zeal by .75 0.5 seconds [alternative: restore mana depending on stacks of Desparation]
    • [New Talent] - Inquisitor’s Prayer
      • Quest: Hit Heroes with Searing Lash
      • Reward: Each Hero hit grants 3 permanent Health and 2 permanent Mana. Heroes hit with the second strike count as 2 hits
  • Level 4
    • Martyrdom
      • Moved from Level 1
      • Changed Functionality: Increase Desperate Prayer’s healing by 10%. Each active Zeal buff increases this by an additional 10%
    • Indulgence
      • New Functionality: Gain 5% Movement Speed. Each active Zeal buff increases this by an additional 5%
    • Pity the Frail
      • Changed Functionality: Enemy Heroes hit by Searing Lash reduce the Cooldown of Inquisition by 1 second. All of your Healing is increased by 25% on targets below 25% 50% Health
    • Righteous Flame
      • Changed Functionality: Increase the damage of Searing Lash by 25% 15%. Increase this to by 50% if the target is Stunned, Rooted, Silenced, or Slowed
  • Level 7
    • Unwavering Faith
      • New Functionality: Gain 20% Basic Attack range. Each active Zeal buff increases your Basic Attack damage by 20%
    • Fanatical Power
      • Moved to Level 20 with new functionality
    • Intercession
      • Cooldown from 60 to 45 seconds. [With the new stack-dependencies on level one this now has a relevance for all builds.]
  • Level 10
    • Scarlet Aegis
      • Cooldown from 60 to 90 75 seconds
    • Divine Reckoning
      • Cooldown from 100 to 75 seconds
      • Added Functionality : Restore Mana equal to 25% of the damage dealt to Heroes​
  • Level 13
    • Self-Righteous
      • Removed
    • Guiding Light
      • ​Removed
    • Subjugation
      • Moved from Level 20
      • Damage reduction from 75 to 50%
    • Lashing Out
      • Moved from Level 16
      • Removed Functionality: No longer grants bonus damage on the second strike of Searing Lash
    • [New Talent]: Saintly Greatstafff
      • Zeal heals for an additional 100% 50% from Basic Attacks
  • Level 16
    • Harsh Discipline
      • Moved from Level 13
    • Shared Punishment
      • Added Functionality: Enemies affected by Inquisition lose 10 Armor
  • Level 20
    • Judgement Day
      • Bonus damage from 30 to 50%
    • Fanatical Power
      • Moved from Level 7
      • New Functionality : Activate to grant target ally a permanent Zeal. Only one Hero can have this at a time (15 second CD)

Mana management is essential and needs to come early for all possible builds, thats why it is on level 1. Her level 4 in the version on the PTR has essentially only the basic attack talent pickable, whereas wiping it to make pace for the level 1 talents is no loss. Additionally that basic attack talent looked a little string for level 4, so it might fit better on 7.

I actually like the E quest talent, but the gain is rather low and it can not replace the mana management in function or playstyle. Maybe it can be repurposed into Righteous Flame as a damage quest for E.

In regards to Righteous Flame i am a litte conflited as the baseline increase is nice, but overall i think the spike increase for hindered targets is more relevant.

Her level 16 basic attack talent was definitely way too strong especially with the 20% per Zeal talent earlier on.

Her Cleanse lacked a meaningful integration into the rest of her kit, with the stack dependency on the level 1 talents this might change.

Ok, done. It might not be perfect but at least it avoids some shortcomings of the PTR version.

rcw next time don’t add a title to your post and feel free to tale your time writing the whole thing as you want, if you accidentally press post it won’t because there’s no title.

This would be godsent. I never like community reworks or hero ideas but I think all good Whitemane players play her for the same reason and this rework is Whitemane. I don’t mind her having an AA build, but it HAS to be optional and she HAS to primarily feel like a mage.

If I’m being honest, they could just put a few of her new talents into the live and it will be fine, mostly the two talents regarding zeal.

Would be pretty much what i am proposing, as most of it is removing PTR changes and moving mana management to level 1.

Please can you share your idea on scarlett aegis change?

It´s just my humble oppinion, but Aegis for me was mostly a tool to prevent going OOM instantly when trying to keep the team alive; which is a problem aggravated by removing the mana talents and made worse by the longer CD on Aegis.
