I mean, I used to pick Artanis on it (Blasphemy I know), but that was before everyone figured out how important the Samurai is.
Everyone knows that by now (And I no longer have a reason to pick Artanis). So usually both teams take theirs before obj 1. And unless one team ignores the push, you’re back to basics.
Sneak stealing the enemy Samurai is pretty much impossible now. Unless you’re dealing with a very bad team. In which case you’ll win anyway.
I’m not the biggest fan of Diablo or Hogger there.
I still pick Artanis on it (surprise, I know), but any hero that isn’t dependent on things from the lane or terrain are effective. Sonya is probably the best bruiser for that map, if not in the game at the moment, and if you are good at using your trait, Hogger is a solid pick. Chromie is another great pick, especially since she can scout out what the enemy team is doing from level 1.
She has arguably the best mix of PvE and PvP capability of any of the bruisers, outside of a well-played Hogger, she isn’t reliant on mana so doesn’t have to back out of a fight due to low resources, she has excellent self-sustain, and it isn’t a map where poke is king when it comes to an objective. The only reason I think she is better on that map than Hogger is he doesn’t have natural walls where he can bouncy-bounce indefinitely.
The objective is basically the samurai camps, so anything that can solo them fast (suprisingly, that includes an otherwise pretty off meta hero, Artanis).
And on this I agree with Tooton, Hanzo is too risky to pick under top skill tiers.
Ive got a 60% winrate with artanis and i only pick him on this map. You can get all the camps. In plat i can almost always syeal enemu samurai. In diamond i just cap vision + turrets. Massive xp lead and then big melee minion is useful.
I also like malfurion on this map. Pretty much any healer works.
I get the ranged aa to solo lane, then i go bot as 4. I dont get ao until 45 seconds in and i make some really bad swaps so they underestimate me. I also go to camp right as it spawns and ask my team to play aggro. If enemy 4 man rotates to cap i tell my team to take their gates. If solo laner comes my aa shows up as well and we get kill.
I agree, especially with Amateur opponent, he just melt the samurai in few seconds. I remember how an enemy Artanis just stole our Samurai and I realized it to late, because I understimated Artanis.
On topic:
Since Hanamura is a team-fight / push heavy map thanks to the strength of the Samurai, I like heroes like Sonya or dive-heroes like Genji, who can roam around view points.
You talk in chat and ask them nicely/explain your logic. It works most of the time. No complaints and when plan works the team is instantly united. Ive even died doing this and team said “worth it!”.
