Hi guys,
I’m a returning player starting fresh again. Durable and versatile support role is my favorite, and I would like to have one go-to hero to be good at.
Here are some things I’m looking for
- Mana efficient with smart play and talent pick
- Good enough of survivability to relieve pressure from the frontline
- Being a solid pick for most team compositions and maps is critical
- Threatening presence in team fights, not just being a healbot
- Enough CC and utility to support aggression or clutch save
With those info, I’ve narrowed down to Uther, Rehgar, and Kharazim, but am having difficulty picking one.
I would really appreciate some feedback on each of those three heroes based on what I’m looking for.
Thank you!

Rehgar is the best out of the 3 cause Uther isn’t the best solo healer. he has stuns etc… but i would never count on him as a solo healer he has long cooldowns on his heals cause they gain armor to the affected targets etc. he’s mostly used as a tank than a healer lately
as for Kharazim i don’t really play him so i can’t tell much about him but i don’t like him in my team he’s not the best solo healer nor close to the best and can’t help at waveclear whatsoever. and has no CC either no slows no stuns nothing just damage and heal and not even that much of a damage his ult can be ruined so easily which is the 7 sided cause if you gather inside it he won’t hit a single target with it he’ll be hitting more than 1 = not good but if used on 1 target alone that’s solo not gathered with the team that’ll hurt but easy to walk out of it since it doesn’t slow you
Rehgar can take camps so easily / he has slow which is his totem / his heals are pretty nice and he can choose blood lust for aggressive play which gives him and his team attack speed and movement speed or he can go ancestral healing that’s like alexstrasza life binder it has a delay so you can get killed before it even heal you so it has to be used perfectly etc. that’s why i like him the most out of these 3 i’m not a healer main but that’s my opinion anyway

Consider Anduin as well, he plays extremely aggresive, good on all maps and comps, great survivability, and a playmaker with his trait and lighbomb.
But if you’d prefer one of the 3, I’d go with rehgar. Bloodlust is pretty awesome now, I’d go with even if there’s only one AA carry, but ancestral is also great if you prefer that.
With level 4 his mana issues become very rare, his cleanse is a clutch tool, and he gets a really high damage/utility spike at 16 with the lightning talent or 90% slow. 20 is GG if you go with bloodlust, its insane.
Rather than looking for a main you can just get good with all of them
No but seriously, HotS is relatively simple and it doesn’t take much effort to be considerably decent with the majority of the roster.
Each of the 3 you listed are all strong picks but can fail when your team isn’t on the same wavelength as you, but if you had to main anyone I’d suggest Kharazim.
Uther is a psuedo-tank that can peel at the drop of a hat but his ability to heal retroactive damage is rather low. He’s not very good at dealing with poke, he needs a team that goes in all in with him and force fights to be short and sweet so you neither run out of mana nor have to worry about keeping your team’s HP topped off.
Rehgar’s raw healing numbers are also rather low, instead he’s got a massive utility toolkit and can navigate fights with ease using ghost wolf. Don’t be afraid to pick Bloodlust, either. A lot of people think Ancestral Healing is necessary to cover his lack of burst healing but even if your team barely has any autoattack based heroes Bloodlust can still easily win fights if your team knows to go ham when they hear the BlaarghghLLGHRHARAAHAHHH.
Kharazim is a masterful blend of healing, utility and damage that can be played both aggressively and reactively. It’s always nice to see a good Kharazim on my team and playing against them is rather interesting as well. I’ve been matched with one or two dudes that had absolutely perfect timing on Divine Palm and it amazed me how they could activate it a split second before someone dies regardless of the type of damage they’re receiving.
I personally don’t play him much because he’s one of the higher skill floor heroes and when I try to bring him into QM I get a lot of flak from my team for sucking.
I’d consider Anduin, too, like Berries said. He’s got great healing, serviceable damage, a baseline get-out-of-jail-free card for any of your teammates and lots of talents that make him very hard to kill or catch. He lacks cc outside of his root but Lightbomb is a strong ult that combos well with any number of tanks and dive heroes, or even to counter dive.
Rehgar has most solo impact of those 3, followed by Kharazim, and lastly Uther.
Please don’t try solo healing as Uther in solo que, you will just break your nerves.
And get flamed a ton for “not healing” even if you used q+w every time they were off cooldown.

I’d say Rehgar would be the best choice to main out of those 3, since he brings good healing, some CC, cleanse, waveclear, damage. I think Rehgar is one of the best choices for solo queue SL since he covers a lot of things, especially waveclear.

You seem to be describing Rehgar. Though no healer has absolutely everything on that list.
Rehgar has clutch heals, a good AoE slow for kill secure or disengage, almost infinite mana with “Stormcaller” at level 4, uninterruptible mount, good damage, and can solo merc camps and wave clear.

Rehgar. I love uther and people that think he cannot solo heal are wrong, but he certainly isnt a general healer. I only pick him on maps like dragonshire, infernal shrines, anywhere where the objective is either faster or where he gives you more flexibility in rotations (uther + assassin can hold their own in 2v3 which is great for dragonshire)

Welcome to healing. Before I make any recommendations, is there a reason you prefer melee healers? I recommend starting with range healers.
For melee healers I find Deckard the easiest to play. What he lacks in damage he makes up for in healing and utility. You will always want to be supporting and helping someone if you decide to play him. He can not solo lanes as well as Kharazim or Rehgar can.
Uther is pretty good if you need some extra stuns to pair with a tank that has no hard CC, like Stitches or Tyrael, but don’t expect his healing to be phenomenal, unless you die a lot. If the enemy team has a lot of CC or burst, his hard cleanse is pretty good for saving teammates. Good pick if you have a main tank, a main healer, and then 2 high damage assassins.
Rehgar is good against AA heroes like Valla, Varian, Illidan, plus his decreased move speed is pretty good. He has pretty good heals and a really really good ult heal. Solid pick for most comps but I think excels with a main tank and the other three slots some sort of assassin. Cannot go wrong here.
Kharazim is great if you have a lot of melee. Generally a main tank and another frontliner are good. He has a really good ults to save both himself and others while also being able to escape pretty well. He can flex to do more healing and more damage so he’s pretty versatile in my opinion. I like when Kharazim is on my team no matter what hero I am.
I think no matter who you choose, you’ll do fine because they are all decent picks in most comps. I think it depends mostly on your play style. Good luck!
You look for bit awkward things TBH. If you really look for one hero you could play basically anytime that’s Rehgar only from your options.
Uther has no mana problems on Q build(solo laner) and can manage on E build conditionally if he doesn’t get CC’ed or blown up.
Rehgar shouldn’t have mana problems at all if you take W at 4, otherwise he tends to run out if he actually helps wave clear or jungle.
Monk has no mana problems with smart usage. His only mana talent at level 1 is utter trap talent as smart enemy forces him to complete it jungling essentially forcing your healer out for half the game.
That’s basically none of those. Uther can frontline to degree but he can also get blown up in one go.
Khara can’t frontline at all, he is more tactical damage with his mobility.
Rehgar hits people who dive your team, he doesn’t dive or frontline himself unless in dive comp due to how easy he is to blow up.
All of them have cleanse and way to deal with burst which helps them against most comps.
Khara is mostly for dive comps or to at least assist diver.
Uther is mostly solo laner as he isn’t good solo heal most of the time. Bad mana efficiency combined with long CDs make it hard to deal with sustain damage unless your team excels in blowing enemy up.
Rehgar is the most versatile in this category. He has reasonable burst and sustain heals along with wave clear and jungling.
Uther has stuns for CC chain with E build to set up kills.
Khara has damage to threaten squishies or with SSS isolated target.
Rehgar has bloodlust if your comp backs it up and near root level slow but nothing to threaten by himself truly.
Monk has no CC. Can provide MS boost, body blocks, cleanse, damage and palm to both support aggro plays and save people.
Uther has access to 2 stuns, slow, body blocking and ult of your choice along with armor, cleanse and burst heal.
Rehgar has access to AoE slow which is essentially root without movement ability negation. From support side side he has cleanse, burst protection with AH and shield(13 and 20). If your comp allows BL with movement speed and sustain heals.

Rehgar. Rehgar is the easiest of the three to pick up, and the “Generalist” out of the healers.
Uther, then Kharazin.
All of them are fine.
Uther is mostly tanky out of all three. But, his health has been nerfed in the last few patch notes.
I think Rehgar is most all-around out of all three.
Please, define “Threatening”. They all have good ult to provide a threat in different ways. SSS can bust an isolated tank. Divine Storm can provide CC chain and wombo combo the enemy team. Rehgar has the bloodlust. None of them is just a heal bot and they can be a threat to enemy team. But threat =/= damage.
All of them could also pick the live-saving ult instead too. It depends on the situation.
Uther have the best CC out of three. He can stun-lock so well that sometimes people play him as the main tank in the higher rank. (at least a few patches ago before the health nerf.)
Contrary to the popular opinion, playing Kharazim doesn’t mean you are at some kind of disadvantage because you have to risk your life and keep in melee range to make optimal use of the character. In fact, whichever healer you play and especially looking at Rehgar, you are not making the most out of your character if you stay at a distance and not utilise your entire kit, which puts you in the same position. Basically both heroes are similar.
I would suggest starting out with relatively-safe picks with no inherent mana problems, such as Malfurion or Stukov. Medic is also a solid choice for learning basics. Once you’re comfortable with the basics, see how much you can stretch your resource pool in order to deal most damage while not draining yourself out too much.
Forgot to mention Anduin, he the most noob friendly healer with almost infinite mana pool.
I recommend OP practice with other healers for different situations. Uther is godlike in the right setup.
