Yes, parties get a higher winrate in QM. It’s crazy that a game that specifically pits five players against another five players rewards constant communication and teamwork–something that’s FAR easier to achieve in a premade party than in solo queue. It isn’t some sinister plot of Blizzard’s to ruin solo queue, it isn’t anything like that.
If you get frustrated with pre-mades crushing you, MAKE A PRE-MADE. Like, seriously guys. Or, better yet, play a different game. I hear Fortnite is much easier to play solo.
Besides the fact, the winrate isn’t even THAT much higher. Why do you think that Blizzard hides the fact that a group is premade? Do you think it’s some sinister plot to troll solo queue players? Obviously not! I remember people rage-quitting the moment they noticed an enemy had a group of three or four players. That doesn’t happen anymore.
“oh but pre-made groups always have healers and tanks” EXCEPT there were literally changes made to incentivize solo players to pick Tanks and Healers! (call of the storm or whatever it’s called.) Like, Blizzard has done pretty much everything in their power to nerf the power of pre-mades outside of literally turning the game into an FFA Brawl.
TL;DR, Team games reward teamwork, therefore premades have a natural advantage, duh. Don’t get salty.
In quickmatches teams can cheese comps and get super lucky. Good luck getting your team to coordinate vs a juice pirates. Or if they have imperius/dehaka as their bruiser they suddenly have a tank and you do not. Not to mention that locking an illadin/abathur with some ranged assasssins together gurantees that they wont have counters. Its quickmatch so the people that get really bent out of shape about it are annoying, but i’ve had some games with ppl on the forums where we’re like “yep we lost this one at loading screen”.
As for ranked its just such an unnecessary advantage to give to one side before the game even starts. I wouldn’t complain about it if we had like 25-50 points to the unstacked team. Then i’d gladly accept the challenge. They also are always filled with at least one smurf which brings more complaints.
I dont get salty at premades. But I get mad when a premade with multiple high rank players ques up and ruin people’s games and my team is filled with low rank players that dont stand a chance againts it.
Why do some people need 4 master players on thier team just to win a simple qm game is beyond me. Those people dont even belong in qm but in SL where they can play againts thier own league.
And people are fully aware that queing up with multiple master players will end up being unfair for whoever face them. Stomping in qm with multiple master players in a 5 stack is just a bad excuse that those players are not skilled enough to win againts players of thier own league.
Pretty much this. It’s almost impossible for the MM to find another 5 stack or solo team with the same skill to face a QM team stacked with Master players. Thankfully this is rare to encounter, but I do wonder what enjoyment they could possibly get out of it. It’s also just sad when they B-Step as if they did something amazing.
If people refuse to work with each other to win, then who is to blame? Although there is also information among the players that the system is throwing AI bots to live players.
I know what you mean and I get your frustration, but isn’t it a bit contradictional comparing SL and QM in that, because the way how SL works encourage people to doing it in QM, because they want to play with their friends. That means for you, if you want to have more balanced games, play SL.
QM is a funky mode for everyone and unbalanced by design. So why bother about premates abusing QM?
That’s another point: How likely is that to happen? It’s unlikely and still you can get screwed up with an bad comp against a good one, even against solos. Why do people take QM serious like SL and just don’t play for fun and see it as a challenge?
My last game was an QM match as Tracer. We stomped them, because our draft was better and I got the reward you’re 100% alive compared to your equal ranked players that’s an increase of 90%. How should the system balance such things?
What’s wrong about b-step? They are rooting themselves… but maybe that’s just me, who don’t see this taunting as provoke. It’s just silly for me and that’s why it’s more funny than tilting.
The thing is, Master ranked players make up a small percentage of the player base, so the average player won’t see them all that often unless the overall population is low. Granted, they can make smurfs to keep their MMR artificially low, but that doesn’t mean there are more of them in queue. While these matches are unfair, they really aren’t all that frequent, just memorable.
To me, there are two things that could be done relatively easily to discourage the unfair matches even more, which would be to increase the MMR gains and losses for low level accounts, so they get to their correct QM MMR faster without plaguing people at lower MMR for long. Secondly, I would really like to see groups be matched at the highest MMR, rather than the average, so you do not get the Master player(s) being able to easily carry their scrub friends.
While it would be nice to have some way to handicap cheese comps, the worst butt-kicking I suffered last week was as a solo tank against an Abby-hatted Zeratul/Valeera comp, it really is just part and parcel of QM. I learned from it what I could, and took comfort in the fact that I hadn’t been matched against a cheese comp like that in well over a month.
Can’t we have friends who we want to play QM with? Should we intentionally search lower skilled allies to make it “fair” for some ppl that voice their thoughts here? Isn’t rainbow matches the most hated thus grouping with ppl similar in rank is good?
Froggy was speaking about situations where 3 to 4 master players group on purpose with someone with very low MMR so the average overwhelmingly favors them. We both acknowledge this doesn’t happen very often, so it’s a rare annoyance.
The first praragraph gave the idea that he talks about any (and solely) Master groups.
But 4 Masters with a lower Ranked is also unfair, tho I can see genuine cases where they’re just friends (speaking from experience when me and a few queue with Hoku or some other not that high mmr folks).
Not all people premade perfectly. I don’t use Voice. Also only five mans can control their full hero pool. Looking at a flat winrate you may see it’s alright, but it consists of people who always lose in groups and others who benefit from it. It can discourage people from playing solo/duo/trio casually.
There is no party MMR and solo MMR. Thus match difficulty randomly varies. If you farm wins in a party, it inflates your ratings and you’ll be a liability. Even if you stick to your friend, your teammates and opponents are random like that. Combined with all the other variables it creates a mostly random with a tiny bit of influence experience.
People are trying to remove some of those variables to reduce randomness and improve their influence.
Imagine if football (soccer) would be played in solo queue.
I’ve played a few with Harb & friends, I was at the time about 2650 rated which is give or take gold, and they were roughly diamonds.
Let’s just say the matches weren’t pretty.
Point being, it’s random whether the lowbie can live up to the task or get bullied, scared, turning the match into a 4v5. In this case, our party was overrated. (And we were actually on in-game voice. I didn’t have a mic but got bits of instructions.)
(Note - I’m very much tryharding so my rating is fairly close to my skill cap, unlike people who may play more casually and thus make it easier for themselves to force a win by focusing when they want to.)
People can play with thier friends all they want. I’m not here to stop them. But they should know games will always be in thier favor most of the time so why not stick to SL so both teams have fun insteed of only one team ?
Its a no brainer really. There is nothing fun in gettting stomped in a 9 min game by a team full of master players in a premade.
If they want a challange they should stick to thier own league insteed of making more people ragequit in qm.
Playing with friends > playing challenging/equal matches. Even good players sometimes likes to play for fun with their bad friends, don’t they?
And that’s the problem here, this guys usually don’t want challenge, but just a casual experience. No serious player would see QM as a challenge, except Landmine tbh., but his goals are different for an only QM player.
If they do it for SL already how do we know, if they didn’t for QM? I mean QM has clearly the bigger playerbase than SL and it would be weird, if that’s a thing for SL, but not QM.
