What would you think about Hots 2?

Hi everyone,

we know that Blizzard is working on Overwatch 2, which is more story-related and the playerbase had interest in more pve and story content. What would you think, if the company would try to make this game more popular again by going the same path in creating a Hots 2 with more pve, but also a new client, so they would have more competitive to other mobas.

That means the old client can be still be used like they planned with OW2 that would give the devs the option to try a new business modell, if it’s worth it.

Why should they and why would they?

A) Since Hots client is rather outdated. Newer client more options for the devs.
B) Blizzard is known for their creative storys, cinematics and such and at least for me it’s one of the aspects I like Blizzards games, so why not utilize it in a pve/story mode like in OW2?

Why else do they create OW2, if it is unneeded as your post implies?

How is that outdated?

Overwatch brings them pretty good amount of these bags, while hots…well, you know.

While a HotS2 would make me happy, I don’t ever see it happening. There just isn’t enough interest in HotS to justify making a sequel.

This was already proposed in the form of more money given to the dev team and the same answer is here. It’d be a waste

It might be right, but what is your opinion on that matter? Do you agree that it would be a waste ?

I don’t know why everyone is responding to “do you think this is viable from a corporate standpoint?” instead of what was actually asked: “if this did happen, what would you think about it?”

Personally, if they made “HotS but with a PvE campaign”, I would really like that, and would likely play it a lot more than I currently play actual HotS (which is currently my second most-played game, after Hades).

I’ll leave wether that can/should happen up to the actual devs (instead of pretending I know anything about running a games corporation and/or Blizzard’s market strategies) :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks, finally someone gets it. None of us knows what Blizzard can or will do, but since we’re customers, we can provide feedback for what we want or not. And if there are enough players for this, they might consider this, even though that’s not an option for now. Isn’t that what helped Blizzard to make Diablo Immortal? Because they see the potencial for new customers in china.

Wouldn’t mind, but with more emphasis on PvE content I doubt we could keep any significant MOBA identity without sacrificing playability. When I imagine what HotS 2 would be like I think of something that is 4-5 player co-op with Diablo-like action and L4D style mission structure. The SC2 engine fits well to a more slow paced strategic gameplay, but for engaging PvE I’d want less clunk and more sizzle.

Not too sure about the lore though. The whole Nexus thing is a pretty silly plot device to keep suspension of disbelief. Not impossible to expand upon for sure, but you’d need some damn good writing to play it as anything other than a gag. Of course you could also embrace the absurdity, break the 4th wall and all that stuff. Who knows, might actually work. Given that Blizzard is running out of things to reheat pretty fast, new IP is not something to scoff at.

It’s based on the 1vs1 engine of SC2, therefore it takes ages to reconnect and why there is no watching-option available.

He wasn’t talking about engine, he was talking about HotS client.

Do I want it, yes.
Will we get it? Jury’s a bit more out on that one.

Still, maybe they could get an engine that doesn’t start out fallen behind League.

Yep, people tend to be quite negative by default IMO.

I mean, customer demand did get WoW Classic to happen, right?

After all, “Anything is possible in the Nexus!” and all that.

If a HotS 2 meant improved and fair MM by definition, I would be 100% for it.

Overwatch 2 is gonna be like a wow expansion. They will claim to make all these changes while the game has gotten nothing chagned at all.

HOTS 2 would be no different. They would still keep the same broken ranked, report and MMR system and give it 0 attention so.

It wouldn’t. Heroes doesn’t have a bad matchmaking system, just too low of a population to consistently get good matches.

Granted, if there were other features and people actually stuck around in the game, that would help the matchmaking immensely.

Considering that Activision has all but given up on this game, odds of a HotS 2 are minus 150%

Likelihood of it happening aside, I’d welcome it.

Anything to get a new engine/client to make reconnecting to games easier and better as well as loading, among other things.

PvE/Co-Op content would also be fantastic as well, and since story won’t be that much of an issue, it would be absolutely fun to have more talents that do bonker things while keeping PvP as is.

We already have HotS 2…

But optional extra PvE (like the most liked Brawls from old times) would be welcomed. From time to time. On the long run, PvP is more interesting to me.
