What is the current state of the game?

how is the game currently?
I haven’t played for more than a year, but after reading the comments I’m a little scared to go back.
I know that there is no more development, but how are the games?
is it worth playing?
I see that the appearance of the forum has changed.
Did anything else change in the game?
Thank you.

There really hasn’t been any changes since they added Hogger at the end of 2020. There have only been minor balance changes since then. The game from a gameplay standpoint probably hasn’t changed since the last time you played it.

Keep in mind that Blizzard has stated that there are no content updates planned for this game. People have been slowly dropping off this game due to lack of new content. It is fun to play a couple matches from time to time, but for longevity there isn’t anything here to incise players to continue playing.

Honestly, to me the game is fine.

It’s in a kind of stasis because it is in maintenance mode.

In the modes I see (silver - plat eu), queue times for qm and ranked are fine.

Despite what you read of the low post count complain threads the match maker isn’t all that bad.

There does seem to be a higher amount of people complaining though iirc. Like very other game someone on your team will be moaning about something.

If you have thick skin and don’t mind it, or just block them on sight the game is still very playable.

… if anything, I encounter fewer trolls as they got bored.

Most of the complaints are inherent to the game’s design, be it a MOBA, competitive, or anything else. Reading through WoW PvP threads and watching some DotA2 I think this is still the best option out there (for me).

We will always have rock-scissor-paper as well as people switching between their best and worst heroes. The question is framing. Like losing 20 is really bad but then you drop so much you get the opportunity to carry, which is something many long for.

Or, I had a pretty bad streak recently with Sylvanas, only to go on a wonderful win streak with Kael’thas right after. Or Hammer earlier.

Guess it’s like dating, you can have good luck the first time - or an awkward time, but if you keep trying, you’ll probably average out.

Players are worse and more toxic, but the game is relatively balanced. 50% winrate thing is still prevalent.

I like it, I’ve known the game since alpha but still 1-2 or 3 players will ruin your match for being trolls, noobs or baddies. It all starts with bad picking, ppl dont respect the roles and choose w/e.

Well, to be fair… I have a 50% winrate myself: 35% SL and 52% QM, adding up nicely.
Dialetheism at its best.
(If you knew that word before looking it up now, congratulations, science guy.)

I wonder why is it that some people experience more trolls while others do not.
Is it because they are constrained to mudranks, or is it due to high ranked people being low in numbers and some can’t imagine a silverino playing only as well.

Or maybe my “quit on first loss” rule is actually magic?
I did have a long period (or two) without wins, but it was more of a skill / composition issue.

As such, one of my recent funny wins occurred with two teammates leaving, Nova taking command of them (Dehaka & Jaina) and creating the ultimate delete squad.

I know, I just jinxed myself for the next two weeks. Salt Mines, here I come! (hopefully not)

Oh, draft. Yeah.
I hardly play draft anymore and I’m a happier person.
It’s great for the 1% of the playerbase that is actually a perfect flex.
For the rest like me the game can use role / hero ranks, but even if not, I am opting to go my bad role / hero, not being cornered into it. I prepare myself mentally and play to have fun. Sometimes failing spectacularly, sometimes enjoying greatly.

Kinda awkward now that I read myself. A completely random, supposedly for-fun anarchic joke mode being more enjoyable and serious than the professional tryhard mode.

If you enjoyed the game 1 year ago then you still enjoy it today. Noting has changed.
