What hero should I try?

Now that all heroes are available, I’m planning on trying a couple heroes.

Here are some information

  • Mostly play off-tank, tank, or healer in RPGs and MOBAs
  • Mained Jarvan in LoL, and Retribution/Holy Paladin in WoW
  • No interest in pure DPS type
  • Being well rounded and self sufficient is important
  • Room to master the hero and have playmaking potential

Any suggestions based on my playing experience and style?

Yrel, but you’ll need to play her a lot.

Her lvl 7 change enormously how you’ll approach her playstyle.

Varian can go tank or dps at level 4.

Having some flexibility may favor your playstyle.

For off-tank I’d suggest to you Sonya. You said you wanted someone well rounded, self sufficient and has play-making potential, that’s Sonya.

Fitting your criteria for healer, I’d suggest Rehgar is your wolf.

But seriously you should give us a rundown on what you play in this game.
Personally I recommend trying every hero out, you never know if there’s a little Murkster living inside your heart.

You should 100% try out Hogger.

He’s got room for playmaking (he can 1v2 some heroes).
He’s an off-tank so you should be self sufficient for laning and getting camps.
He’s got abilities to control enemies.
He’s really strong right now.

Hogger should be good for you.

Also try out Varian. He looks a bit like Jarvan I guess so you won’t be too shocked.

Yrel seems like a good fit.

  • Great self-sustain, can be a great central force in a teamfight, and Solo-lane
  • Has lots of utility
  • High Skillcap

On the other hand, you’ll need to be wary of–

  • Her abilities charging will ruin your muscle memory for other characters, particularly if you use Quick Cast/On Release (as you should)
  • Her Merc game is… OK.
  • Is absolutely stuffed by CC.

‘Well Rounded’ and ‘Self sufficient’ sounds like you should try Tyrael.

I like to pick him with squishies and go ‘Justice for All’, but he can spec into self sustain too. He certainly isn’t easy, but is rewarding. Based on your criteria, give him a try.

THese four are the ones I’m going to suggest as they all meet your criteria
also try everything at least once if for no other reason then to find out how they function so you can better crush them as your foe.

Yrel or Uther.

Yrel is more of a tank but does have options to heal allies a little. Has a reasonable amount of CC and some damage potential.

Uther is a hybrid healer and tank, offering lowish healing (by healer standards) but also having good CC and being moderately durable. Can enable allies quite well.

ETC, Sonya, Yrel, Imperius would be some immediate go to based on a brief glance at your tastes.

I’m a huge proponent of ETC.

I second Uther and Yrel

Might want to check out Johanna as well. She has unstoppable on trait, good survivability, and great waveclear for a tank. The rest of her kit might be a bit basic, but she has some.good playmaking potential with blessed shield at 10.
