What Blizzard character deserves to represent the company for Smash?

Title.
And what is their moveset?

Probably Diablo. He’s a more iconic titular character.

There’s essentially three characters.

Arthas
Diablo
Kerrigan

Pick and choose any of those.

Honestly if it’s not overwatch?
The Lost Vikings, since they have easy Nintendo roots and would make for a wildly creative kit not unlike Pokemon trainer but probably a little more frenetic and akin to Game and Watch’s ‘wacky’ kit.

Probably someone else though with a more generic middleweight kit that’s well balanced…

If it’s only one I say Raynor.

Gotta keep in mind that it’s Nintendo and the Smash series is generally fairly family friendly. If it came down to it, Blizzard would likely pick Tracer, though I think Thrall may be the #2 option.

This is the way.

Basically anything that isn’t Overwatch.

I don’t think family friendly is why they put Joker or Solid snake in the game.

Illidan if we’re living in a fantasy world where characters that weren’t in a Nintendo game could get into Smash.

Genji if we’re being realistic. He’s a pretty iconic and popular Overwatch hero and his moveset would translate over pretty well. I say Genji rather than Tracer because Genji uses shurikens which are actually projectiles; Tracer would basically have to be kind of like Bayonetta for her guns to work like hitscan.

Diablo for Smash

I have spoken.

Diablo so we can have a double reveal trailer with Doomguy.

Blackthorne. Also Nintendo roots?

As a side note, my brother calls the TLV “thrice climbers”.

The usual expectations would be diablo, kerrigan and Arthas but… that’s per our hemisphere of understanding from the west, Smash is a thing of nintendo/japan, and the culture and lack of hype in the east is quite a bit different. Japan is a console market, while blizzard is associated with the personal computer. Of the forrays they have into consoles, some projects have been canceled, had limited presence in japan itself, or are found on mobile, to which… the blizzcon backlash of venturing into that beyond Hearthstone hasn’t gone over so well.

Diablo games have had the most console presence, but Diablo is mostly just a reskin Bowser. If nintendo where to shift away from the usual Diablo stuff, functionally, they could cast that addition to smash as Corrupt Magical-Girl Leah, but… that certainly wouldn’t go over well in the west. Plus name-wise, I think there’s a hefty bit of confusion with other japanese productions for other Demon Lords and Diablos.

Kerrigan arguably has the best kit options of the three (melee for blades, psionics for ranged and utility) and could be a variation of the psychic stuff dominated by earthbound. However, I don’t think she has much to positively convey to the japanese market as starcraft hasn’t had much mobile, console or manga productions (to my knowledge)

Arthas could be set as a shadow-whatever fighter and have Prince and Lich King forms as ice & ‘holy’ type effects in Smash are pretty scarce. Similarly, there’s not a lot of heavily armored characters, and maybe one person that uses a hammer (on occasion) so “another sword fighter” jabs aside, arthas could be okay.

However, I think on the warcraft side of things, there is a better option based on how character reveal trailers have worked for Smash: Uther.

Uther appears in warcraft 2, 3, WoW, is the ‘mentor’ character for HOTS, appears in hearthstone as a staple (instead of just an event), co-starred in Mulligans, shares a reference to Uther Pendragon – which other japanese media would know, thus being a decent point of transition to a westernly-based character addition-- add in the hammer/book/holy stuff, possibly the only character with a beard on the default skin and drum roll is voiced by Michael McConnohie.

Granted, Uther doesn’t have a lot of ‘epic’ zoom-zoomb kaboosh-type moments, but he’s already been the face of one crossover game to encourage people to think too hard about nexus stuff, so he’s kinda the ‘best’ suited for a similar transition in smash. Not a lot of characters on the roster can tote protag power and mentor mastery among their badges of honor.

Or all that said, just Jaina. The company is called Blizzard and she actually uses the spell.

Obviously Murky – everyone loves the “cute” ones.

I personally think It’d be Tracer. She’s very easily recognizable, and I think that’s what they would go for.

I think Diablo would fit in more though. I mean, he basically already has a back throw in hots lol

(k I just read the title. It’s not “most likely to get in” it’s “who deserves it”. mb)

Diablo is the most obvious to me. Diablo III is on Switch. That or Tracer are the only things that would even make sense.
