West Server NA Finally Shut Down?

I am in Hawaii so if I set my preferred game server to Best Match opposed to North America under Language & Region settings I would always get West as Central is to great of a distance to be considered under the Best Match parameters.

As of yesterday I no longer get West games anymore only Central. Did the West Server finally get shut down?

Can’t say. Though it might be coincidence, but my SL games today started a lot faster than usual.

Maybe something happened that’s forcing everyone on central? Blizzard what do you say!?

I’m not sure if you have the same issue as us downunder BUT any in Australia we haven’t been able to connect to WUSA servers for quite some time.

Wouldn’t be surprised. They closed down the East NA server years ago due to low player counts.

I opened your relaxing YouTube sounds video and within minutes I was in a pure state of calm. I feel now in my state of Nirvana I can calmly ask Blizzard to please reply. Thank you.

I thought this had already happened a couple of years ago, but I haven’t personally checked my server settings in years.

US Region Selection

  • After looking at the causes for North American players’ longer wait times and instances of not queuing together, we are bundling matchmaking for our US regions together. This will only happen for players if they have good pings to both sites, and our simulations have shown that we can create better games faster this way. If you don’t experience this, please let us know!

So apparently you could still get W NA servers if all 10 players had better pings to Western servers.

That’s the way I read it, it’s slightly unclear phrasing and I have no idea if they amended anything written there in the past two years.

If they had, they might not have even posted it in patch notes, as we went almost 2 years without any patch at all.

West server is back it must have been taken offline for maintenance for a few days. But yes you can still get West server every time if you put Best Match and you are geographically to far from the Central server.

I thought Australia was pretty far TBH… but doesn’t work :frowning:
