I really don’t like all the toxicity in the game, and just rather not read what people saying

Thanks for the help, blocking everyone at the start is so obvious, I don’t know why I didn’t think of it. Thanks very much

There is none to my knowledge.
At least the process lasts 3 minutes or so, after which you won’t be hearing from your team anymore.
I find it very weird that you can’t mute draft chat as well. I think it is probably because of engine limitations?
You can mute in-game chat. But not the draft. Chatting during draft is actually more useful than in-game. And it doesn’t last very long anyway.
Enough time to make me regret queueing
You can always play QM.
Still, I don’t see why muting all chats doesn’t mute draft chat. It’s like… standard? All games do that. It’s just a QoL change that should be easy to implement. Unless, like I said, engine limitations…
I also think the “you can play QM if you don’t want to read bad stuff in draft chat” argument is really bad
Lock your pick, alt tab and enjoy the quiet.
I’ve read the argument that during draft it’s important to coordinate.
Might even be weird if the team is discussing a strategy but you don’t see.
Sure, 80-90% of silver drafts are uncoordinated, but it’s difficult to draw the line.
You have a lot of time to report people during draft and even after the match, as the chat persists.
I have team chat off but I’ve gotten some positive vibes off the draft chat a few times. Basically, when you open by saying you’ll do whatever, having a really bad day, and the team inspects, responds empathically, says not to worry, it’ll end, and suggests some comfort pick.
A lot of things can go bad by not seeing what your team says in draft chat. Such as “I only play Tanks” Or “All my healers are banned”
It’s not essential though. If people want to preserve their mental health and block draft chat they should have the option to. It’s one of the most basic things in an online game. Mental health always comes before some specific draft stuff.
Well, you can always just not read it, it doesn’t necessarily have to be formally blocked. I do this to certain forum posters all the time!
If you are the sort of person who can’t not read it, maybe put a sticky note or something over the chat area until the loading screen pops up?
Edit: To clarify, I am not opposed to idea of adding a way to block draft chat, even if I would never use it. I am simply proposing some workarounds since it is extremely unlikely anything will change any time soon.
Sure, but don’t you agree that is far easier to just have an option to mute that?
Edited: Darn it, you edited right as I posted
I’d say preventing an unplayable comp, and ultimately a loss, is essential. It’s a team based game. Knowing what your team mates say in draft is important.
Draft chat is rarely toxic. There’s very little to complain about at that point. So the benefits of muting it would be negligible. I can’t remember the last time I saw someone being toxic in draft. And when it did, it’s for such a short amount of time that I never thought of requesting a mute for it.
The worse thing I saw was people complaining that their hero was picked or banned by a team mate.
At the cost of the mental health of a real person? Really? Winning is THAT much important?
From all my ranked games, I rarely saw any useful information in draft chat. Maybe 1-2% max, and even then it was not really information the team needed to know about.
But, the amount of toxicity I saw in draft chat is really really high. And even if the toxicity wasn’t directed to me, it already makes me wanna go next cause I know the game will be a hell.
How would draft chat cause mental health issues? I think you’re exagerrating.
Mine is really low. It feels like we’re not playing the same game.
In my experience with draft chat, most people are just toxic, flaming each other, being racists, saying the most awful things.
Yeah, it can get some people really hard. Companies should create a safe enviroment and protect those people. Hots is also rated for 13+ people. They are literally minors and should be protected.
Yes, we play different games. I play in a different server than you. I’ve played a lot in NA and it’s definitely less toxicity, but there’s still some here and there. Even if it happens less in big servers, there should still be the option to mute draft chat. Also, if you mostly play as a group, there’s less chances to get that kind of toxicity in draft chat.
ah block them, thanks, I did not think of it
Assuming your team even uses the chat lol. Idk if it’s just me but I’m Silver and I find draft chat to be more silent than Stukov’s E build. I just type “I can Stukov and Anduin” or “I can Zagara off lane” at the start because asking things like anyone want to heal gives me no responses at all. If I’m banning and I ask who they want me to ban they don’t even answer.
