Warcraft III Spoils of War edition question

I’m sure similar has been asked before, but I’ve not been able to find the answer on the forums. If someone purchases the Warcraft III Reforged Spoils of War edition, and they already own one or more of the HOTS characters included, is there any compensation given to the player? Or are we basically penalized for already being a dedicated player?

pretty sure might just include a mount.

There wasn’t any compensation for me with the Valla giveaway. I don’t think there will be any compensation for heroes you already own.

Well, this is more than just a give-away. People would be paying extra for the game, specifically for the bonuses. Those bonuses include 4 HOTS characters.

I bought it because I wanted Warcraft 3. My motivations had nothing to do with HOTS rewards.

That’s not being penalized.

People are so entitled.

Drothvader: You do not speak for everybody. If you just wanted Warcraft 3, you can buy the base version. The Spoils of War version is $10 extra and includes the bonus content. Most people who buy it would be buying it for said bonus content.

XiChorn: When you are spending money in exchange for items, and get nothing, that’s being penalized. Yes, when you SPEND money for something, you are indeed ENTITLED to get what you paid for. But to say “Oh, no, you already like our game and already HAVE this content? Well, in that case, you get less than people who haven’t already been supporting our games.” What kind of a message does that send?

And that’s assuming you do get nothing. Which, I have not seen confirmed, or denied yet. Which is what I am asking about. But yes, do not sit here and assume that being given LESS when you’ve paid the same is somehow fair and just. It’s not. And it’s especially bad to do that TO people who are your fans, people who’ve played, and paid for, your games already.

They NEVER give you any compensation for these things, you’ll simply get nothing for HotS if you buy it.

A) That’s not a penalty. Do you know what a penalty actually is?

B) You are, in fact, getting plenty. You are not just buying the Heroes. It’s $10 for all the things from all of the other games.

100% Agree with you Kailen!

I have spent a ton of money on this game alone as well as the rest of the Blizzard games. I wish they would at least give us gems to spend on other heroes or give us something like an redeemable code so I can at least use it on my other account or give to a friend…

To the others claiming this is “entitlement”, it’s not. We spent MONEY on a game/service with a completely justified expectation. If I am to get free heroes as a perk, I should at least get a code to use as I wish seeing as it’s a purchase incentive. Just simply leaving people with that “sucks for you” feeling is a total slap in the face especially with how lackluster Blizzcon has been this year.

Wrong.

If you pay extra for something you know you already own and you buy it anyway, you are penalized for own stupidity

The only compensation Blizzard should give is voucher for Personal Financial Management course.

PS - bundles are not for “dedicated fans” but for people who will get into WC3 for the first time. Blizzard got no interest in re-releasing game for small group of people who already know/play it.

…Or maybe the wording was vague, Blizzcon has a time limit, and people had faith that Blizz wouldn’t do them like that?

I wouldn’t call it stupid at all. Blizz in general had a better reputation for customer service than to simply be like “lol sucks for you”. There were simply too many details that were up in the air while that bundle became a thing during Blizzcon so you either wait for clarity and miss out on the limited time content or you have faith and buy it.

What I do find stupid is when people would rather troll/ridicule fellow gamers rather than propose a solution that works for everyone. What a miserable existence that is.

They should really give players more than just heroes for the pre purchase…entitle them to a bundle similar to the 2.0 bundles…HOTS NEEDS MORE PLAYERS!!

the short answer is no though…right?

Mounts, emojis, loot chests perhaps, don’t expect too much :\

Back in alpha/beta and early release they were giving out heroes, either from box purchase, at events and so on. These heroes were given as code that you would redeem. Since they added the gift option in the blizzard client i think they got rid of those codes. When I win something on twitch for exemple i receive it as a gift directly in the client and can’t send it to another account.

Long story short, the best outcome in your case would be that they still hand out codes for heroes that you could trade/give to a friend. But more probably, you will receive it directly as a gift and applied to your account wich would net you nothing since you have that content already.

A bag of gold or gems for already owning the heroes would be nice.

If you go to a Subway, buy a foot long sub, and you watch them cut three inches from it, would you accept paying full price because “you are, in fact, getting plenty. You are not just buying these three inches.” I mean, getting MOST of what you pay for is the same as getting ALL of it, right?
