Varian is BUSTED

So I was forced to tank one Storm League game and the enemy team had Tracer, Johanna, and Artanis, and I was like, hmmm, I wonder what could be a good point and click stun against Tracer while also dealing with the enemy shields. I had never used Varian before except in brawls but was like, “what the heck, might as well give him a try.”

It was a slaughter of a game and I didn’t even know what I was doing. I tried him again and it was another slaughter. I’ve tried out his Taunt and Twin Blades builds and they both feel really oppressive. The point and click Charge feels really damn good and Juggernaut at 10 s delicious. I’ve played 6 games with him, 4 in SL and 2 in QM and haven’t come close to losing even once. Not even when we had a BOT Garrosh in one game and a BOT Leoric and Samuro in another.

Varian is broken, and I now know why I’ve always hated playing against him.

THESE ARE JUST FIRST IMPRESSION, BTW, I GUESS I HAVE TO CLARIFY THAT SINCE THERE WAS SOME CONFUSION. :rofl:

He’s not broken, he’s perfectly balanced. You just picked the best counter against Tracer that she can’t do pretty much anything against (unless cleansed after Taunt).

If enemy has Tracer, try to pick Varian if possible. Even a mediocre Varian will have high impact against a good Tracer because of Taunt.

Though best Tracers will juke the living daylight out of Varians as well and not let him get in Taunt range (or will only go in after he used it on someone else).

Noobs? I went up against a Diamond 3 Alarak with his gold smurf buddy with a 2 AI on my team and kicked their butts in a low platinum match…

You misread the statement, I’m not diamond 3. Was 2 seasons ago, but not anymore.

the point is your average games don’t prove anything. if you wanted to start a thread about varian and his strengths/weaknesses, there was a much better way to do it.

Wow, sorry, I didn’t know first impressions of heroes people have never played before weren’t tolerated on the forums, haha! Maybe in a year or two after I have a couple hundred games with the hero, I’ll get back to you with my very long and detailed analysis of the hero. (that’s internet sarcasm, btw)

Lol diamond 3 would still put them in top ten percent of ranked play. Lol diamond=trash is funny from a masters perspective but in reality theyre still some of the best players…

Also as for varian he’s strong in mid ranks because his taunt is a great visual indicator for team to followup on!

Diamond is trash rank. Just like master. And I am telling you that as master for 2 seasons and Diamond player, who tried to get master for 3-4 seasons before.

Thats because everybody’s trash at heroes. Diamonds are still some of the best trash.

The gold player is not a smurf (lvl 473), but grats on beating a 4-5 stacks with solo queue players 3 times in a row.

Next time don’t claim a hero is OP just because you stomped some noobs with it. Pretty simple.

I would like to see him stopping vs Arthas, ETC, Valeera for example. Or good Tracer player.
