I can’t tell you how many times I’ve accidentally knocked her out of stealth. It’s far too easy to strip her of her openers and any utility she had.

I think her 16 & 20 tiers need a lot of work as (imo) dead talents abide in those. I’d also like to make her 13’s simply be a choice of which opener do you teleport with instantly instead of the standard time. I LOVE the extended blind to help handle all the AA around nowadays but I had a friend suggest that recently and I thought it was a cool idea / fair trade. If OP - make it “X skill now teleports instantly. You can’t teleport with the other 2 anymore” type talent and bake in the benefits currently on tier for each.

I don’t play her and from what my limited experience with her is, she seems very situational and very feast or famine.
I just wish she had better self heal. Like a talent that lets you spend your combo points to heal, or just leeching poison like in WoW.
She’s too squishy, and you can’t really be a threat if you have to run back to the healing fountain after every single encounter.
Which is why I’d love for them to go full sin rogue on her. She’d be better off having her utility tied to various poisons and debuffs and not stealth openers that disappear because the enemy team accidentally hit you.
She went from ‘unplayable’ to ‘meh’. She is still drowning in bad talents. If you don’t take Crippling Poison at 1 you can’t stack to anyone for crap. If you take Wounding Poison at 4, you destroy a major talent tier for making AA and Q builds function.
Basically, she’s not effective at all if you build for utility, and not incredibly dangerous in team fights if you build for full damage if there’s the slightest bit of peel or expectation (and they can see you coming).
I mean, you still use Garrote almost exclusively. The only time I use Ambush is on minions when I didn’t take Hemorrhage, and Cheap Shot is practically a meme now. The only time to use it for the baked in Blind is on Butcher after he charges in; even Illidan it’s better to just Garrote and prevent him from escaping or using more defensives.
Her level 20 talents are super situational, and the general options are largely not that great. Rupture isn’t strong, and it’s kind of the default choice if you don’t need Elusiveness and you took Smoke Bomb. Enveloping Shadows for CoS is actually a good upgrade, but Adrenaline Rush for Smoke Bomb is so incredibly niche that I’ve only ever taken it twice since Valeera was released–it really needs a slow built in, or something, because Valeera benefits very scarcely from an excess of energy come late game. To top this, there’s still instances where you don’t need Enveloping Shadows, so you’re back to choosing between Rupture for a tiny bit more damage, or Elusiveness for general travel or slightly better engage odds.
TL;DR: Her utility talents are way, WAY too conflicting with talents that make or break her build functions, still has sticking problems without crutches, still uses Garrote in 99.9% of openings, and her 20 spread still leaves much to be desired.
i think she needs a rework. her talent tree is ‘ok’ in some sense but its messy tbh.
level 1 no quests at all except you know the globe thing. many heroes have actual ability quests here in some form. valeera? level 7 is her only ability quest.
… and dont get me wrong this isnt saying quests are a mandatory on 1… but she doesnt even have any really which could help do things with her talent tree.
ok so her builds. Q-build has been fairly solid forever it seems. something i find annoying about this though is talent overlap with Ambush at 16. imo they need to do some talent condensing or removal here for Sinister Strike.
Garrote (E) build got changed a while back and its pretty decent overall. the Level 13 talent has bothered me for a while now. it is reduce the spell power of a hero for 6sec. now this happens in conjunction with a silence so they cant do anything to begin with for almost 3 seconds anyway but then if there was a spell power issue (like say kt throwing a fireball at you last second desperately) well you have the cloak of shadows ult to pretty much negate that. maybe it can be repurposed.
Cheap Shot/Blade Flurry (W) is practically non-existent as a build. maybe they can actually get a build in there for this one and make it worth picking at the same time. here is my thoughts on its current state though given talent picks not specifically tied to the other builds…

initiative 15% movespeed + combo points is redundant and should be changed
- val gets 20% movespeed boost from stealth
- val L20 talent grants 20% more movespeed.

fatal finness aoe range is too small and the damage is lacking
- i realize that zera and val are completely different heroes… but come on. at 20 zera has far more range on his aoe and far more damage.
- my suggestion on this one is remove the flat 90 damage and give it a reward of finishing the quest of added 30% damage + reduced cost.
The % reduction effects abilities in flight, and also, there are some (few) heroes that can deal spell damage despite being silenced.
Mostly cool talents that deal with auto-attacks and spell damage.
Valeera definitely needs talent tree overhaul and maybe even further work.
The problems started when devs initially (when she had Cold Blood and pre-nerf Eviscerate) designed her as Wow rogue. If you ever played Wow, you know PvP rogues are designed to jump you you, kill you in a moment and quickly run away. It is annoying when you just want to farm your daily quests, but in 5v5 Moba it was super utra annoying. She had to be nerfed. Devs realized this is the wrong way so they tried other possibilities when she was reworked along with Stealth rework. However, it wasn’t a full rework and that is the reason why she is problematic now.
I think the biggest issue is she has 7 basic abilities, but just 3 talents on levels 7, 13 and 16. . With only 3 talents some of her abilities has 1 or 2 talents which makes no place for any great talent synergies.
She should have 4 and maybe 5 talents choices each time.
