Really like playing Valeera but this talent makes her really unfun, I get the massive burst damage but it makes her legitimately just spam Q (and removes both her get out of jail free card and her gap closer).
Anyone suggest a good build that doesn’t take this? Half the time I take it I lose any ability to chase. Normally, I have more success with the 2/3/3/X/X/1/4 build than the “Meta” 4/1/1/X/X/1/4 build.

The crux of the problem right here. In a number tuning patch Eviscerate’s damage got gutted hard to the point where SS is better. It doesn’t feel right.
Im glad that you do. Valeera has a lot of fun energy generating and combo building talents which make her playstyle feel different with each playthrough.
Sadly, miss (or even strategically reposition) with one SS and Valeera physically has no way of spending that additional energy. This core mechanic of how SS means that cool and interesting energy talents lose incredible effectiveness.
Sorry I didn’t come with advice. Valeera is a cool hero with great potential to be a fun hero. This potential is just squandered by number tuning and fundamental mechanics.
garrote + aa (hemorrhage at 4) was her go to build wayback when, so you could try that instead of Q. Since the aa boost is on targets afflicted by garrote, and not silence, it does mean she could use that as a boost against pve targets so she’s not as focused on just hero killing.
