Unranked wins should count the same as ranked wins for reward purposes

If you allowed unranked to count for season rewards then more people would play unranked and we might improve the quality (slightly) of ranked because people no longer need to queue in storm league just to grind 50 wins for a mount.

And we should be able to win 50 vs AI easy to get it while were are at it.
Ranked mounts belong in ranked mode.
You may discuss that 50 wins are too much but give ranked a bone.

That defeats the purpose of having the quest. They’re seasonal rewards that you get from playing SL. UR is more for playing casually.

I can’t see how it would improve the quality of SL by removing an incentive to win matches. At least the people grinding for the mount are trying to win.

What about a points system? Can call them thematic coins or what have you. (Reputation with the Ring Organizers.)

Slightly different amount for game modes. I wouldn’t say that PvP modes are of varying difficulties, except maybe for new players. Maybe a 2:1 ratio in favor of ranked to (1) incentivize and (2) account for the fact that tryharding is harder. (Unless you always do. Then your non-SL MMR is just higher and so it isn’t easier, a serious goldie among practicing plats.)

I don’t mind losses, WoW used to have a 3:1 ratio.
I always try to win but I see how some would not.
On the other hand, consolation price during a loss streak.

Getting really off, but I think a participation trophy is not always a reward. Maybe there should be two levels (a basic and a fancy mount), or some kind of a quest system that does challange you a little, a one-of system: get 10 MVP (50 wins = 100 matches => 10% chance), get close to your recent best rank, stuff like that.

This. It’s impossible to “cheese” wins in Ranked, even with a premade. You need to try your best to finish those 50 wins.

Now, back when it was Play 50 games, that was pure hell. People afking left and right, and taunting teammates with “just here to finish quest, enjoy the loss”.

Just like with the OW cross promotion that gave OW players Genji skins for playing something like 10 HotS games. Should have been wins, not games played.

  1. I can do 50 wins in AI in pretty much 50 games. Getting 50 wins in ranked or unranked is just slightly harder ? maybe 50 out of 75-110 games ?

  2. it allows people who “just want the mount” to play somewhere that isn’t superserious, this makes it very slightly better for people who are in ranked to play. I’d like to play with people that have the same goal.

Personally given that ranked mode has no integrity to it getting rid of ranked in favor of unranked imo would be a huge step up. It takes away all the :eggplant: measuring.

I’m pretty sure the whole point of this is to keep “People who just want the mount” away. Which I agree with.

The reward is for people playing ranked and putting in the effort. And it encourages these people to keep playing. More games per player means better stats for the dev. team. And stats mean a lot more when there are less trolls/grinders in them.

But the idea is to motivate ppl to stick to SL specifically, not just into “draft”.

It might be neat to have three colors, one for 50 wins in QM, URD, and SL. This way everyone can feel like they are working towards a positive reward, and crazy people with too much time on their hands and who play all modes would appear only slightly less crazy.

No. Why offer unranked rewards?

If ranked wasn’t such a cesspool and of no real integrity you wouldn’t need incentives.

It’s not worth playing, and shouldn’t be.
It should be removed.

Anyway, typically the system tries to place you where you’ll have a 50% win rate.
So it shouldn’t really take much more than 100 games to get the mount.

My incentive for playing un-ranked mode is QM sucks.

This statement is just ludicrous. Why would they give ranked rewards for NOT playing ranked?

Back in the day, we used to get ranked mounts by playing, NOT winning, 10 ranked games. That was detrimental to ranked quality as people didn’t care about the outcome of those 10 games. They just GRINDED 10 game for a mount.

The 50 win reward improves ranked quality because it is an incentive achieve victory.

Current system is so much better for those who like to play ranked.

Can be scary to those who are afraid to play ranked. Don’t be, if you drop in rank nothing happens, your games just get easier.

I’m pretty sure that the old way was you had to reach certain ranks in ranked to get the mount.

Like the Elemental Stag, you had to reach Platinum in HL (or Bronze in TL) and the Epic Elemental Stag required Masters rank.

Considering the current state of UR, they should probably rework it in a way similiar to Role Queue / Blind Draft.
QM cannot be changed since it’s the most played mode and Ranked is ok-ish (I would like a limitation to premade, like only solo/due/3 men stacks).

Having a “clone” of Ranked with the current playerbase is just redundant while we could use something new and different.

But I agree that cosmetics reward should stay exclusive to Ranked to both improve the quality of games and the stick people to it.

Old system:
basic mount - HL diamond rank or TL bronze rank
master mount - HL or TL masters rank

Unranked draft is the place QM players are supposed to learn drafting before moving to SL.

This is the real problem because it means most players refuse learning to play the game how it’s designed to and choose to play a clown fiesta(QM) instead.

I totally agree but exactly for this reason UR is not used as it should (the place where you learn to draft), but just as “QM with decent comp”. At this point better change it into something completly different, imho.
