Unknown lag. Only in HotS

Someone tell me how I can figure out what makes HotS, and only HotS lag when I play. I get lag spikes when I have nothing but HotS running.

What is step 1?

I would try posting over on the Technical Support forums, as they are better suited to gather the information needed to help troubleshoot either a connection or computer issue!

It’s like this for me all the time, and it always seems like the Voice service either causes the stutter and crash or is the first issue after. Not sure why that would be a cause but we’re also stuck with the voice service (I haven’t used it in years so I’m not sure if it’s worth using at all, to be fair).

In WoW (other than the current server issues) I get like 75+FPS unless it’s a World Boss and there are like 50 people around. And it’s consistently still fine, just chunky.

Not sure why HoTS is (seemingly) always chunky. It’s always horrible right after they update and for about a week or so after for me. However, this month has been pretty consistently frustrating.

Only Hots, and still dot know why… Im trying to get better connection if it help and we ll see.

So I went looking this afternoon for a fix across other Blizzard forums. Giving this a try tonight.

Sign into Bnet via browser. Jump to settings and go to parental controls. Do the email thing and sign in with your code, then turn off Voice Chat from that list. You won’t have it available across all blizzard games, if you do use it, but it’s worth testing out through a few games.

My internet can be wonky because I don’t have control of the wifi (incredibly frustrating, and it means I can’t test ethernet). But I can tell when my internet fails because other things fail too (phone, tv via netflix, prime, etc…) and when it’s blizzard (everything else is fine).

In my case I’m connected through ethernet though. I never play on WiFi

But maybe I can try turning it off in-game.

Can only do it via battle.net. I don’t know if ethernet will matter if the issue originates in the voice chat itself. It’s smooth as silk for me right now.

I’ll give it a try. Though it will be a bother when I group with people.

Fair. I HoTS solo, so that’s never an issue for me and I discord with my guild for WoW so that’s also not an issue.

Update: the lag is back with a vengeance. Trying a complete reinstall. If that doesn’t work, I’ll need to move on from the game.

I think this is being ignored because a blue answered before I moved it, so people figure it’s taken care of :frowning:

Hello! When I had lag I tried many things but what worked for me is I found out my antivirus had real time scanning on (scanning files as you use them) and when I turned that off it did the trick. Hope this helps someone else because I had no idea that was a thing.
