Tychus
+Much, much more damage v.s. tanks
Odin
+More damage vs squishies
+AoE Damage
+Longer range
-Worthless crap against Tanks.
I ask because I pop Odin at start of fight only for the tanks to kick my team’s butt and I wish I didn’t pop Odin.
So then when I don’t pop Odin to threaten the tanks, fight kinda ends without Odin cause once the tanks retreat the assassins run away out of the fight impossible for me to kill.
So is Odin a siege only skill?
Odin wins you the objective, it is an powerful zoning tool and it is a squichy killer because of its enormous range

But when the tanks get in your face or your team’s face, you’re powerless cause you can’t threaten them and force them to retreat. It’s like a nova v.s. diablo situation. Nova does jack against diablo and so does odin.
Except Nova goes AAS, then she can hurt him, when her team also focus Diablo.
On the topic: I can’t really add anything, because Havi basically nailed it. You use Odin on point fights, defending/attacking sieges or if you fight for a camp, where places are surrounded by walls to get more value of Odin.
Firstly, change your build accordingly.
Odin is for the Mage build. Good waveclear and poke.

AA build to soften the frontline if you have a good front yourself + heals (not much in QM)

As for Odin, during an all-in, burn your basic CDs including D, then pop it.

I mainly use AA vs tanks and abilities vs squichys
It doesnt kill but it does great damage so I hold the squichy back and the rest of my team kills the tank or wins the obj
Your right in that people do often run away from it but that can be a good thing. Sieging is defiantly one of its best uses but its also great on objectives where teams want to stay in a specific spot for a while. Just like what Havi said.
Odin also gives you a ton of aoe when you’d otherwise have none. Its great for defending zerg waves or defending pushes that involve a lot of camps.
Its probably the most insane on infernal shrines where you get to use its zoning and aoe at the same time : p
Also keep in mind that Odin lowers your single target damage. Its not an ult you wanna just use in fights with out good reason.

Yeah this, too often I see someone panic and pop Odin as they are taking huge damage because “ooh 25 armor” and you are essentially stunning yourself for 1.5 seconds. You pop Odin when people are running away OR after minigun expires and the tanks have blown their CC.

Odin is useful if your enemy frontline is too much for Tychus to deal with. Although Tychus can do a lot of damage to tanks and bruisers many of them have abilities that hard counter him such as lowering his auto attack speed (most of his DPS gone) or out right blinding him (all DPS gone). His low range also means landing these on him is easy and he is at risk of stuns and burst combos which he can struggle to survive.
This is where Odin comes into play. Pop this as he goes from a low range assassin to a long range assassin. A lot of Odin’s damage is abilities so attack speed slow is inconsequential, if they can land any on him. Even burst is less effective on him due to the Odin’s innate armor. As Odin’s abilities are splash damage they can be used to punish enemies that group up tightly, such a melee heroes trying to combo another team member.
Odin can also provide secondary (niche, rare but could be useful) utility:
- If you are about to die in late game to a nuke like Pyroblast or KTZ chains, it gives you both armor and an Unstoppable
-You can pop Odin to get away from Chromie’s temporal loop or evade a Stitches hook right before he would kill you.
-You could use it to evade an incoming Dragon’s Arrow’s stun if your dash is on CD in late game (ok, very niche, but I had to think of it
)
I’ve always been underwhelmed by Odin’s damage. W can’t even kill minions. It’s often worth tanking it.
I also never got why it needed such a long startup time.
Ok I take everything back. I guess i got into a higher bracket in QM and that’s why odin is doing a lot better.
I can’t kill tanks because the moment I go on a tank, the other assassins dive and focus me to death. But as Odin, my range is long enough to make me undive-able. And that’s what seems to make me strong.
I also made a few changes to my build.
I switched out in the rhythm for master assassin. In the rhythm is a trap. Combat tactician alone is enough minigun duration for all the fights, and the extended length delays That’s the Stuff from healing you in a duel and that got me killed too many times. Once I stopped using it, I started winning all of my duels.
I think master assassin boosts Odin attack speed? And that’s why I’m now doing more damage than I used to? Or it might all be in my head iunno. I think sizzlin’ attack also works with it and that’s why Odin’s damage v.s. tanks now seems acceptable to me.
But yeah, Odin for shooting from safe range until everyone is depleted/thinned out enough so I can minigun without dying.
1:Press the Advantage
4: Master Assassin
7: Combat Tactician
10: Commandeer Odin
13: That’s the Stuff
16: Sizzlin’ Attacks
20: Big Red Button
After 20 I noticed I’m odin the entire fight start to finish, and his W is now not worthless trash but a nice zoner.
I still can’t kill anything though. Just soften until someone else takes the kill, or they’re CC’ed to death, or they run away with 1hp and I boost in and take the shot.

Yes Master Assassin is one of the few talents that boost Odin. When complete it is 25% more auto attack damage.
Sizzlin’ Attacks does not affect Odin. None of the level 16 talents do so it is pretty much free choice as to what you want to use when not in the Odin. Sizzlin’ Attacks is still quite strong due to its percentage damage boost during that time, and stacks very well with Master Assassin as the attack speed bonus effectively multiplies its value. Master Assassin and Sizzlin’ Attacks+Minigun burst can quickly finish off most tanks and bruisers.
It becomes more about big damage numbers than killing single targets. All of Odin’s abilities are decent splash damage pushing a lot of Tychu’s damage towards poke rather than burst like it normally is with minigun. Not ideal but as you found out there are situations were you really just cannot burst down safely and those are where Odin helps. Odin still does enough damage that few heroes can survive being hit by it for a long time.
Personally, I find both Drill and Odin to be weak ults. But you have to pick one so, you get the cream of the crap.

Eh, Odin can help to clean up on retreating enemies and as long ranged poke, while Laser Drill can be really distracting and deal actually decent sustain damage.
