I just wish Blizzard would just say how many Heroes per year we are getting.
I’d be ok with 4 if they at least said a number and stood by it.

There are 85 heroes. It’s fine to slow down as long as game getting balanced and issues gettin resolved.
Haunted mine rework eventually
People wanting new heroes when they can’t play the plethora we already have decently.
That’s a huge guess for them to make twelve months in advance, and would ultimately limit them if they felt the need to stick to an arbitrary number. Last we knew, they had two teams work on new heros at a time, staggard so they would be released in alternating fashion. A hero that might be released in August may not have even been decided on yet (right now, early March), let alone designed/developed.
At first I was happy that they focus on balancing the current heroes and fixing problems that way, but after getting disappointing by their comments about Li-Ming and Rexxar being fine right now made me wish for more layoffs and resources on other Bliz games because the developers are clearly way too distant from the state of the game to make the good balance decisions the playerbase needs
Considering how big is the rooster now, imho, 3-4 new Heroes per year is ok.
Not that I’m happy about it but even DotA2 or LoL doesn’t release too many new champ each year.
HotS had to catch up since its release, but now it’s pretty fine in terms of total Heroes (but I still hope for more Healer/Support).
I still think they will combine the release with the new event, though i was pretty sure they would start it a bit earlier in the month.
Just in case there is suddenly a PTR this evening; i called it first.
At the most I would gander at 3-4 a year due to the lack of manpower on hand. It might even be less than that but only time will tell. There should still be a handful of heroes in the works of being done so this year but have at least half a dozen but I if I were a betting man I wouldn’t put a dime on even that.
The heroes can’t keep grow in number forever. At some point it would get to the LoL absurd number.
Me personally I could like with a new hero per season and 2 reworks each season.
I said this last time and I’ll say it again. My prediction is a hero teaser around mid April, the PTR the following week, with release being somewhere around early May. Calling it.
The event is announced for this month, and i doubt they will not combine release and event. It is also most likely one of the reasons the Lunar event has been moved to March.
Overwatch gets 3 maybe 4 new heroes and a couple maps every year. If that’s the release schedule we’re going to get in HOTS i’m ok with that.
I’m level 620something and still haven’t even played a match with well over half the roster. There’s plenty for me to do and learn.
I just want them to keep supporting this great game. If they cut the game off completely, i’m done with Blizzard. IT’s not the same company i grew up loving.
Li ming and rexxar are fine.
HoTs isn’t DoTa or LoL, in which they pretty much just make up characters on the fly and then add them to the game. HoTs pulls its’ characters from beloved Blizzard franchises that people have been playing for years, people want to see and play as their favorite heroes. 85 may be quite a bit of heroes, but it still barely scratches the surface of the amount of great characters Blizzard has created throughout the years.
I mean, it’s in the title “Heroes” of the Storm, the focus should be the heroes.
It would be better to have the heroes released at the common pre-lifehold pace and have then an easier way to balance the whole roster after all they had ready was relased.
That wasn’t the point of the discussion you know?
On a different note, i’m ok with them slowing down the hero release schedule, if that means that they put more thought and work into them. Seem reasonable to me. But as many around here are saying, a heads up would be nice. As in: ok guys, we’re thinking of releasing 3,4,5,6 heroes this year.
They canceled the hots pro scene (no, the ‘scene’ now with a bunch of minor league players playing for chump change isn’t a scene, sorry), pulled developers from the dev team and stated that they are slowing down development significantly.
How much more of a hint do you want? We’ll be lucky if the game even survives past the fourth hero release this year, let alone another hero afterward.
Necromancy, but i approve of the topic
I am not, a reason why I play this game more than Overwatch is because this game always has (Or had) new content to play with every month.
In OW it really takes it toll releasing a new hero every 3 months.
Better yet, releasing something that isn’t recycled content.
Erm… wasn’t that in the game already in Custom games? cool…
