Tips to use Lv10 Purifier Beam for Artanis?

Lv20 Purifier Beam is no brainer to use, but I can’t say the same for Lv10 Purifier Beam. It moves very slowly and doesn’t recast when it kills someone.

So I wonder, when should I use it, assuming that enemy doesn’t have mobility skills or +movement speed trait to dodge it. Should I use against the melee assassin or tank that Artanis and my team is hitting it or just cast it on the backline and doesn’t care whether it kills them or not since it just used to keep the backline busy?

Also, I checked the hotslog and it turned out that Purifier Beam is kinda popular heroic that get picked often in Master/Diamond league.

It can be very effective as a finisher for low health low mobility back liners and often zones someone away from a TF as they attempt to run from it, there is also the fact his other ult is only effective against AA so a team with little to no AA would not be hurt by the other and of course there is the fact it does get so much stronger post 20. It’s a balancing act using it prior to the 20 upgrade but it has a low CD as well. Take KT (either really) who is low in health, throw that on him and watch him run as fast as possible, if it doesn’t kill it will likely cause him to disengage from a TF long enough to get a advantage. Lastly its global so if you’re able to play Art say in a solo lane and see the 4 man TF in another area you can help turn the tide of that fight and not even be there.

This all again is predicated on a lack of AA from the other team though

I use purifier on those who want to sit still or the will be most distrupted by running around. Like the enem healer.
It’s also good on anyone who’ll get CCed and focus fired.

Use it on somebody that effectively butthugs his/her team. Could mean the healer, the main damage dealer or other squishy. Target the easiest one to screw the other team.

It’s picked a lot because it forces someone out of a fight as the raw damage output of this heroic is near unmatched. In fact I don’t think any heroic comes close to the ST potential of this one if it’s allowed to cast for it’s full duration.

Ideally you wanna pair this up with Warp Sickness at level 7 (which can be enhanced with Graviton at 13) or at the very least grab Blades of a Templar at 16 later.

You wanna use this either as a way to disrupt a specific enemy, such as a healer and just force them to run around in circles, an overconfident tank who jumped in too far or on just about any target you notice is vulnerable to die. Can be anything really from Malfurion to Kael’thas to Alarak to Stitches.

The great value in Purifier Beam is that it you don’t give up anything crazy while also getting one of the hardest win-more talents at 20 to secure a win. Suppression Pulse is a limited impact ability where as Purifier Beam always have kill threat on anyone. You want to make sure to bodyblock targets you intend to purify and this is why talents providing slows are very useful.

Murky with Octograb comboes well. Global kill pressure and most players underestimate that murloc. Start the beam as soon murky gets close to the target because of the delay and then Murky has to do his part. Just for fun i did this with my friends and we added planet cracker on top of that… one player simplay wants to kill that murloc and suddenly two laserbeams come across the map… deadly octograb.

It’s usually not meant for damage but for making the opposing player move.

Usually helpful when someone who channels ability’s like whitemane, or Sgt hammer.

Can be really good on heroes during channeled ults like Ravenous spirit.

Futhermore it can be good combos with stuns, roots, and slows

Arthas, Malfurion, Jaina and so on.

You should probably use it in 1 of 2 ways though.

1. Finish off a REALLY low health target

2. Engage a fight by making the enemy run around

If your team has slows, stuns, or taunts, it can be a guaranteed kill. I love pairing Artanis with a Jaina, as her slows and Ring of Frost will turn Purifier Beam into a serious death laser. It also works very well on heroes that want to channel something, such as a Ravenous Spirit Nazeebo, Stukov, or Eye of Horus Ana. Any hero that has a delay or cast time is also affected heavily by the beam. Other perfect targets include slow-moving, large hit box heroes that are easy to body block, such as Azmodan.

Just remember, you do not have to cast the beam the second a fight breaks out, but look for opportunities to either do the most damage, or disrupt a back liner who is using big CDs.

Generally, it is picked together with warp sickness and combined with bodyblocking the enemy after the swap. Any other slows or roots are tremendously helpful in getting the most value out of the Purifier Beam.

Spell casters and/or DPS that have low mobility or that require a lot of movement to cast spells. So think: Gul’Dan, Chromie, Sgt Hammer, Zul’Jin, Kt. These sort of heroes either have low mobility and/or slow spell casting or both and using it on these heroes can gravely lower their dps/burst during a teamfight which is nice. Other options are Low hp heroes since it’s a global or pairing it up to form some sort odd form wombo-combo. TBH I’d avoid this ult unless they the alternative options is not worth it. This is rare. It’s also a powerful counter to Nazeebo if he goes Ravenous Spirit and/or Sylvanas if she goes Mind-Control

Burst/DPS heroes that I’d avoid it around are: Li-Ming, Lunara, Tracer, Genji, Hanzo, Fenix, Valla and others that have relatively good movement and low spell-cast time.
