What do you guys think about rexxar, his viability, and his place in the meta? He’s one of those “forgotten” heroes and I’d like to hear people’s thoughts on him.
Still hard to beat out on lanes where holding a point matters since he can soak and hold a point at the same time. Also a decent second warrior because Misha’s stun is basically powerslide on a low cooldown attached to a Murky.
Imo good on Braxxis and Volskaya. Can solo boss so that’s nice.
And his frequent stuns can ruin a Diablo’s (and probably any other diver’s) job (if they can keep Misha alive). So pick him as a second warrior against teams which can’t one-shot Misha for teams which need a good laner who can help with CC in tfs.
(I don’t know how I have 60% wr with him, tho only lvl 10.)
he’s an unique hero that I wouldn’t exactly call useless, but he’s been pushed out of the meta by both the crappy map pool and a variety of overpowered dive heroes heroes that took too long to get nerfed
now when there’s no HGC, I wouldn’t mind having the map pool for ladder expanded, sure some maps can be boring, but they also benefit certain heroes and strategies, the limited map pool that the pro scene stayed with is probably the main reason the game popularity started declining rapidly
unless you force change the game rules and innovate with map design, A VERY STRONG POINT FOR HOTS THAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT (OR EVEN BETTER) FROM SIMILAR GAMES, people will keep playing the same 16 heroes all over in every game and lose interest
garden map is basically the same as alterac valley, the nuke map can sometimes be frustrating but it feels really good for stealth characters, and rexxar can be put to use when it comes to controlling the nuke spawns
change the playing field and people will adapt, map being not fun or frustrating to play is not a valid excuse to exclude it, best players will try to make the best of it and group compositions might differ drastically, which is never bad for a game that has 80 heroes
Rexxar is one of those heroes, like Cassia, where I rarely see them in a game but when I do they really shine. Not sure if it’s just because the only people that play Rex are the hardcore ones, but what he does he seems to do quite well. He is great on those maps with point control and more skirmish / less team fighting (Braxis, Warhead, Dragon shire).
Great hero that gets huge value if opponent lacks dive, especially good vs Mages
one of the top tier solo-laner, but I’d do hope they buff him for a little extra team fight potential and fix how clunky Misha is
I would love rexxar to get some defensive talents merged/maybe become baseline quest to free up /create some more offensive options since he lack TF value.
That being said you can’t give him too much either.
If rexxar got the same TF value as yrel or blaze he would become an ultra toxic hero.
Good bruiser, but I actually miss times when he could do boss or solo camps. Now after the rework he feels… clunky. Hes not bad with right build, but very susceptible to dive.
Also I think both of his ultimates are bad. Boars do nothing and they are in a cone, while Misha’s bonus damage is not bad, it adds less than 150 damage on lvl 10 for several seconds. If it would be passive bonus damage with some active part which would influence Rexxar as well, like lifesteal, attackspeed, something, that would be better. Still, the fact that everyone is taking +150 damage for few seconds only shows how useless and bad are the boars.
You still can easily if you pick easy prey at 1 or if you pick heal on bear AA at 4 and juke roots.
Level 10 boars are not great but level 20 is pretty strong. Boars are homing and do not require any vision to track people as long as they are in the large cone range.
