I invite you to look at world history and see how many truly horrific and tragic things could have been avoided if people engaged with each other openly and honestly, and weren’t as you say, ‘sad and pathetic’.
Then I would ask you why it’s not enjoying 20 minutes of a video game is the thing that highlights the tragedy for you.
Let’s get this straight. You aren’t going to make those players be better by ragging on them. This isn’t being done to help them, it’s being done because you need to vent rage.
Which is understandable, because being stomped because one of your teammates has a case of the derps is highly annoying. However if you choose to vent on chat, there are certain consequences you must accept.
Going after a less skilled player is going to make them do worse. Going after someone having a bad game is just going to put them on tilt. Going after a troll - well, you’ve lost the game right there.
Now - sometimes - you can give a player advice if you frame it right and they are willing to take assistance. If you don’t feel that you are capable of being diplomatic, then yes - silence may be the best choice.
but how do you find out if they are willing to receive feedback without trying? and trying gets you reported because JUST SAYING “hay want some tips to play better” is toxic to these sheltered youth that can never do any wrong and are always doing the correct thing in these games
Nobody has ever been silenced for saying that, and if they did it would be overturned on appeal. If you have any proof to the contrary, feel free to post it here.
Somehow, I don’t imagine you doing what someone else tells you. So I doubt you’d do it any more if they insult you. No one responds positively to insults. So I’ll assume you’re either lying or an alien.
I have asked people these exact words “can you please help us with the objective and join us for teamfights?” I get the words “I play how I want to play, get reported” so no people do get reported and silenced for trying to help people, that is why this reporting system needs a full rework
I didn’t say reported. I said silenced, without appeal working.
You won’t have any less of a bad time if you do insult your teamates either. Obviously you didn’t since you made this topic.
Why not try saying the same thing you normally say but without antagonizing your teamates?
I talk ALL THE TIME in my games. Every game. But I’ve never been silenced. And if somehow I did, I can easily appeal it since they won’t find anything in my chat log that’s me insulting someone else.
People who do this will all tell you that it works, so why not try it? And as a bonus, your account will never be suspended.

I can find several Reddit threads with successful appeals with a simply Google search. Quite a few of them even posted their response emails.

I never claimed I would positively respond to insults. But neither do I need to act negatively either. I know it’s shocking but some people have this thing called a thick skin. I simply don’t care because I’m not a little cry baby about things.
If I’m doing something bad that’s going to cause us to lose the game. People have every right to call me out on my crap. Then it’s my job to do better.
Breaking down into tears because someone in a competitive game called you out on your bad plays is literally a waste of energy. Grow up. You’re not a well functioning adult if you can’t handle a few insults thrown your way by a stranger on the web.

Mate - people were getting blitz in WW2 woke up and still went to work and did their damn job. So did thousands of other Brits during that time period. It’s pointless to police speech and/or attempt and identify people. It’s a f2p game. Even in overwatch there are plenty of trolls and the cost of entry (a new account) is anywhere between $20 and $60. Here is takes one minute to create a new one and the troll you just banned is back. It’s completely pointless all you do is lose people who lost their … a few times, yet people who live to troll are always around. Just invest in a decent chat filter and be done with it. Easy. But then again, the snowflakes would rather have a dead game than having to click a mute button every so often.

searched the reddit with those words and I found 1 person who said that he got some silences overturned and that was 2 years ago, 1 person and the silence that got overturned was him when he LITERALLY TURNED OFF ALL CHAT. still has not changed my mind at all about this reporting system and how BS it is
I even started to consider “silence” punishment fair after receiving multiple “bans” for abusive chat lol. Support team is full of amateurs. They force you to disable team chat entirely and play anti-social.
