So normally, I just OTP Probius in QM. I love the burst damage, I love the zoning, and I love the waveclear. I really love the waveclear & soaking. However, I do wanna learn at least a couple other heroes. I have a few Naz and D.Va games under my belt, but I wanna try a different Bruiser, and Malthael looks fun. He has phenomenal-looking waveclear, & his % damage looks like he can ANNIHILATE tanks, which sounds fun. If I want to pick up this hero, what’s any key information from the Malth players that I should know about?
A lot of good information here as well.
that was almost poetic but these two have beat me at putting the links up best I can do it recommend^
Well hey, it’s good to know what attributes you like in a character. Gimme a guy who can bomb waves, soak, and get some early tower damage for the early game and I’ll be happy, it’s almost therapeutic.
Actually I would like to know something, when would you pick Maltael over Leoric or vise versa?
Leoric is my most played hero and I personally don’t know why I should pick Maltael. Sure he is nice with Ana or Last Rites is an easy kill-button, but otherwise he is so squishy and his wave clear feels worse than Leoric as well.
Malthael clears faster, can repeat more frequently (Leo’s Q is not low on cd). Rotates faster. Can do Bruiser camps!
Yeah, but loses a lot more mana?
Well yes, but if he has his 4 talent for clearing it’s on par I guess on par I guess?
Good point tho. He can do it with his 4 talent after the cdr buff, but it’s not really good, but it’s fine, otherwise he would be op. But still his team presence feels superior to Maltael, so I wonder why would you pick Maltael over Leo? Just for better rotations?
Malthael imo is a stronger dualer.
Leo can miss his selfsustain, Malthael can’t.
The double soaking is in Malthael’s favour.
Leo is just more solid in teamfights.
So in tf heavy matches, pick Leo.
Where teams split (BHB, Braxxis, DS), use Malthael.
You either gonna have a good time or a bad time with Malth in QM.
When I played him, if I verse a team of assassins, you can pretty much bet your butt that you’re going to have a difficult time dealing damage, your best bet is so lane and get camps.
Very easy to Kite malth
In other words you just confirm what I said:
If you have maps, where you have more team fights and less about pushing / soaking, Malthael is better, while Leo is better at team fights. Like Leo is better at Shrines, but Malthael might be better at ToD or Curse Hollow?
If you ignore where I said that Malthael holds points better, then sure, only for the rotation, but I said more then that, so I didn’t reinforcement your assumption.
Where did you said that?
Do you mean this? Well this counts for particually one lane: Braxis, but tbh. I am not sure about it, but tbh I only played a handful games against Malthael on Braxis and I didn’t struggled against him, but that’s obviously not really enough to make a point, so I grant you that.
Lvl 4 throwing shade is good now !
Keep in mind that Malthael has clear limitations. He can clear waves well, but he can’t siege much. So if you’re left alone in a lane, you won’t be doing much damage to the structures.
Also, when your team is pushing as five, you’ll get bored a bit since you won’t have much to do.
And if you’re ever fighting at the enemy core and everyone dies except you. The enemy probably get to keep their core.
Where I mentioned more rare teamfights, listing the two holding maps (excluding Volskaya as that is a team effort which doesn’t split teams for holding points).
Both statements say team fight , I think you might have typoed. Malthael is better at soaking than fighting.
I’d only pick Malth if I’m tired of playing leo but still want a hero with a spooky death theme.
Otherwise, leo is better.
Leoric is not better nor worse.
Malthael is great at poking and diving in, dealing a lot of damage and escaping
He is also faster at killing someone and doing waveclear / camps
Leoric is a bit more stale (but unstopable on demand is awesome) and entomb is an awesome ult if put right
It depends what comp your running against. Sometimes you need a bit more dmg /map pressure and aoe
Sometimes you need a lockdown
Personally, I like Malthael better into either the more aggressive bruisers (Artanis, Hogger, Varian) or if the enemy decides to go the annoying route and send a ranged assassin into lane. Leo can be bullied out of lane if he can’t consistently sustain from spoopy hand. Malthael, not so much.
