That is a pity, but I still don’t find that smurfing is an agreeable solution… could just play unranked or QM…

QM and UR are even worse tbh. If I had to choose, I’d rather play in bronze forever than QM/UR.

What is it specifically that he teaches people by playing at bronze rank that he wouldn’t teach by playing at high rank? That is simply impossible to teach in a high-level match…?

It is a different game, strategy, meta, heroes, decisions. It is just another world. Things that are done in high level play most of the time are not done in lower ranks and never will. It is like trying to teach people about how to play in competitive but those people are playing SL in GM rank. It is just a different world. Rules are not the same. Overall gameplay and macro game is just too different.

If his primary goal is to teach people, he doesn’t need to do that by smurfing, though. He could do like Notparadox and go through replays and point out differences in bronze and GM and what bronzies typically don’t do that makes the difference and what not.

I mean, he does it for the entertainment as well, and watching replay analysis is not that entertaining tbh. He still needs to make people attracted to his stream cause that’s how he lives money wise.

Also, Notparadox smurfs a lot as well =p

And I wasn’t really laughing. I found the whole thing rather pitiful. Pitiful for Fan for doing and pitiful for the people who wound up getting destroyed by him.

Let’s be real though. People get destroyed by the enemy team quite often in this game. And this is only taking into account games without smurfs. Getting destroyed or destroying the enemy team is just part of the game, or any competitive game. If people get destroyed, tilt and quit, then maybe they shouldn’t really be playing these kind of games. Go play a single player game, better for their mental health.

Whenever I get destroyed in a game I most of the time look at myself and get mad at me for playing that bad (which should be the standard thing to happen with anyone btw), and I also look at my team’s mistakes when they are that obvious. If the enemy played really well, I often just get impressed and want to get better just like them. It is pretty hard for me to tilt because of the enemy team being superior.

Why doesn’t Fan just make community-events where he drags in random people, particularly his viewers, and make a game out of that where he winds up on a random team? This way he could truly educate his viewers and It’d be pretty much the same, him against a bunch of lower ranked people, except there isn’t an actual rank attached and no ranked points at stake, except everybody signed up for it.

It is just too much work to do something like that.

For me so doesn’t it make sense to do these bronze-to-gm challenges. You say it’s because of “GM rank area is dead” “he’s doing it for educational reasons” “he’s doing it for entertainment value”, but all of these things he should be able to do without resorting to smurf-stomping.
In my eyes, he’s doing it mainly to stomp noobs and have fun doing it, which is why I’m against it, as I despise all smurfs, whether they’re streamers or not. While a GM streamer may have all those other reasons as well for doing, literally all other smurfs do it because they want to stomp noobs and feel good about themselves, as opposed to playing at their own level and enjoy the thrill of the challenge.

I mean, there’s many and many reasons why people make smurfs. If someone wants to make a smurf to feel good about themselves and stomp noobs, that’s his problem. That person should probably go see a doctor, but still, it is his problem.

Are you also okay with other smurfers? Or only for GM-streamers who have all these other reasons to do it?

Overall I’m okay with smurfs, even if you just want to stomp noobs. It is pretty rare that you will affect so many people and literally destroy the game. Yeah there is way more smurfs now than before, but that’s due to ranked changes, which is literally blizzard’s fault. But like, every game has smurfs. Blizzard doesn’t even deny it. If you read the COC and Blizzard rules, you can have more than 1 account. If Blizzard allows it and are okay with this, what can we even do?

The thing I’m against though, is boosting. I am totally against making an account to specifically boost someone/friends. There is ways to reduce this though, like rocket league does (people gain less mmr when queueing with a high rank player/only the high rank player mmr counts for matchmaking).
