The win requirement for current quest

I get that “people may be jerks” but the reasons to remove this are so much more compelling

  • I play AI instead because I need a win
  • If I’m not in AI, even if I’m hurting the team, I’m vaguely being productive
  • I avoid ranked because the mindset the quests put me in makes me kinda nasty
  • I avoid ranked because after the long queue, if I don’t win I feel like I’ve wasted the quest and it’s REALLY FRUSTRATING
  • I avoid playing the game overall. It feels like I gotta grind out crap in modes I don’t like and that’s exhausting, so frankly I’m just gonna find other games. I don’t want to play AI mode nonstop

I don’t mind that requirement actually, since we have over 2 months to complete these quests. Worse comes to worse, you can spam AI games.

For now, I’m spamming Whitemane for one quest, mainly because I want to learn the hero better anyway.

So you think things would be BETTER if people didn’t have to win for the quest to count. So you think that people are bad NOW wait till it doesn’t matter if they win or loose, they will completely chase the quest to the exclusion of the object of the game.

Wait there is an objective, 9 players in a team fight… GREAT LETS SOAK MINIONS for minon quest, lets soak GLOBES for the globe quest, lets get CAMPS for the camp quest… I can do my thing and not be ganked or harassed … ooh wait 2 members of my team died, better watch out or they will rotate on me…or just keep pressing till you die, because its not like WINNING counts…

You think things are bad NOW, remove the win requirement and see how much worse it gets.

Dude you have 2 1/2 months to do the quests. Literally you can do them without realizing. Just play normally and you will get them eventually

I really don’t understand why people feel compelled to complete the quests (or any other in-game task) even if they don’t find it entertaining.
It’s a game: playing it should be fun in the first place, if not then what’s its point?

Just relax. If you have a tank or support quest quest. Pick someone you want to grow in.
See the quest as a reward not as a must have.

You have plenty of time. Dont forget your playing a game to have fun. Not to grind

That’s a you issue. I did all the quests in AI, even when I didn’t want to. Played more than I did normally overall.

Besides, like others have said, you have nearly 3 months to complete the quests. You will complete them by playing normally over that timespan. Absolute worst case scenario is you play a role you don’t normally play.

Sounds like you weren’t here for heroes 2.0. Literally mass throwing because selfish OW children didn’t want to try for their rewards. Locking quest progress behind winning is a smart move.

Trust me, ever since blizzard did that Overwatch event when 2.0 came out, it was truly toxic.

  1. the quest chain at one point forced players to specifically do a quest in only QM and Ranked matches.

  2. Since you didn’t need to ‘win’ to register progress in that event, people literally tunneled their quests and didnt care if they lost and the PVP players were angry that the AI players “invaded” their games.

Since the backlash from that event, Blizzard has made sure that:

  1. You have to win the match for the progress to count.

  2. That it doesn’t have to be a specific AI or PVP mode to win (Although Brawls and Customs are excluded).

Since then, people have had less issues.

I’ve played since alpha. The stupid OW stuff was with players who DID NOT PLAY HOTS playing the game, just to get a reward in OW. This is vastly different from HOTS players wanting to play the game and being stuck playing AI mode to complete a quest. Normal players aren’t going to just throw quests. It’s asinine that we’re forced into a very unfun quest mode just because of the FEAR of players who don’t even exist.

Currently, when I don’t win a QM game, I think “Well, that was a waste of time” because it doesn’t offer any quest progress.

To people saying “You have 2 months to complete it” - it’s a never-ending quest. I’ve been on the healer quest for 2 weeks now. I’ve tried reporting it as a bug, but apparently it’s INTENDED (?!?!) that you never finish it and just keep cycling through the last stage of each leg.

You have 2 months to get as much done as you can. I can’t even finish a single leg. That’s vastly different from just finishing it once and being done. Losing directly impacts the quest completion.

Then don’t. You have two months. Chill. /jainajoke

Wait a minute. Are you saying that the healer quest has never completed once? Or do you not realize that it is a repeatable quest? /confused

(I should add that I’ve completed the entire chain twice – once on Americas, once on Europe – so I don’t understand how something like this could be a bug.)

You mean when you don’t win, right? 'cause I don’t see why it wouldn’t give you progress for a QM game…

The way it works (I’m pretty sure, anyway) is that if you finish (as you call them) every “leg” once or more, you get some Tyrael skin or something.
But besides that you can also finish the last quest in any of the legs again for a lootbox as many times as you want. (another way to get random cosmetics that doesn’t take away from the normal ways?! How horrible!)

If you normally play other modes, but during the event you feel compelled to progress in your quests to the degree that you’d rather “find other games” (when you could perfectly just ignore the event and play whatever mode you like), then maybe there was more to the “Lootboxes enslave players” argument than I thought :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey mate, as Nemarra mentioned, are you sure you didn’t already complete the quest since it is repeatable?

I had this issue with exp quest … didn’t even realize I finished it and when I actually went to check my progress it was lower than before.
Took me a minute to realize what happened :stuck_out_tongue:

If you feel like being a healer doesn’t make much of an impact (cuz of team issues) try to get some friends to play with

Cheers!

Yes, I typo’d. I meant when I don’t win. It’s been edited.

I’ve been stuck on the healer leg, final quest for weeks. When I finish, it just cycles back to get 400k healing. I get a loot box, but then my quest progress resets back to that stage. I’m sick of it. I’ve reported it at as a bug and been told it’s intended, so I honestly don’t know what they want from us. I’m sick of being tethered to a win condition on 400k healing.

I’m not really a loot box chaser, I just buy what I want, but I just like completing quests. This current quest is really frustrating because if I play any mode other than AI, I’ll fail at progress 50% of the time. That’s not fun at all and makes me feel bad, while quests are meant to be fun fluff to augment gameplay. The solution is to play AI, which is not only hard to do in ANZ (much longer queues), it’s just not as fun as QM or a proper ranked game.

Working as intended. The quest is repeatable. Get your loot box, then change your quest.

It is a repeatable quest, based on what you said you already completed it.
If you check the event you’ll see the quest marked green.

Once you complete all the quests you can choose whatever quest you want and just play for extra lootbox

That’s a terrible design and doesn’t really make me enjoy this event any more than before. The win condition is still stupid and just makes me want to play AI, which makes me want to stop playing, which I have been. I’ve played maybe 3 hours this week, when I usually play several hours each night.

People in QM are throwing games, btw, saying they won’t win and so they won’t get their quest done, so I don’t really see how this is any different from the hypothetical issue - if anything, it just makes it more clearcut and easier to determine when to throw.

It’s a repeatable quest. All the sections have that. Once you complete it it restarts counting the progress on that quest so you can repeat it as the game describes it. If you got at least 1 loot box you’re fine for that piece. This isn’t a problem with the win requirement it’s everything to do with you not reading the in game text properly.

With how long they give to do this it’s almost impossible not to complete it just from playing a normal amount of games

Sorry mate but I don’t get what’s so horrible about this design?

You finish a quest, you take another one, you complete all of them, you choose whatever quest is more applicable to you and your play style and get additional lootboxes every time you finish it.

Making win as a requirement just insures that you’re still focused on the game, not just on your quest.

And if QM doesn’t work out for you, as I mentioned before - find someone to play with
Or you can also try UD to insure a more balanced team comp.

Plus try to have fun and don’t check your progress after each game
