Nova, Valeera, Tassadar, Gazlowe, Chen, The Butcher, and probably other garbage tier heroes I am forgetting.
Rag got buffed due to being mildly undertuned. Honestly, that’s good. But why can’t these other heroes get the same treatment?
At least we know reworks are coming for Chen and Tassadar.
But what about the rest of them? Blizzard is just never buffing these heroes. Many have been waiting for meaningful buffs for between months and years.
These heroes being viable should take priority over talent diversity changes for already fairly balanced heroes!
I’d argue that due to Chen and Tassadar having reworks scheduled they won’t be putting any time into tweaks.
Could they? Sure, probably, but unless the hero is seriously flagging I cant imagine them putting work into a character they know is going to be changed soon.
Other heroes? Dunno, could be laziness, incompetence or maybe the heroes are fine and don’t need tweaks.
Didn’t stop them from gutting Leoric a long time ago shortly before a rework… for artist reasons. Facepalm
Okay, well, it was ~10 months before the rework.
But he was not OP or strong, and he got a large nerf to his ultimate, not getting anything in compensation for 4 months.
I’m going to take a wild guess and say that the Heroes of the Storm Development team has better data and a better understanding of the data than you, HailFall.
Or me, or anyone on these forums.
And probably anyone on the HotS reddit.
REmember how Garrosh is OP tank gotta contest gotta pick…
Despite having a 48% winrate on high rank Garrosh.
That normally means Diamond+Master players who have the hero at level 10 or higher.
But hey, Garrosh really strong! GOTTA PICK! IMBA TANK!
Some heroes IRL do not want to be used as characters in the game because the way that players use the character resonates with them IRL. Some of them do not even allow Blizzard to add them or mention them, like the Protoss girls, because it could disclose their position in the galaxy.
It was also a different department philosphy driving things back then.
I don’t think it’s fair to compare a long time ago to now, given that the “dead game” has been given a “skeleton crew” that at least seem to be less restricted than they used to be.
My comments, right or wrong, are about the current dev team and leadership, which in my eyes are doing a better job overall by more frequent tweaks to many more heros and better communication with their developer comments.
I would guess that the smaller team would lead to them cutting ‘unnecessary’ work.
I’d love to see something for the vikings. Not even necessarily a buff, but at least something. So far they don’t even have any abilities out of the gate, they are just passive soakers.
Butcher dont need a buff. What you gonna buff him with. He is allready fine as he is. Dont buff a hero who have the ability to snowball whole team late game if played correct.
None of those heroes mentioned outside of impending rework are garbage tier. What are you talking about
Butcher is feast or famine. This is part of his design. Counterplay is involved him denying him meat and stunting his late game. Still it’s nearly impossible to deny a Butcher the quest entirely due to how meat loss works, so long as the teams are evenly matched in terms of skill.
Gazlowes is a different assassin but valuable none the less. Killer macro game and in the right hands capable of some great damage too. Removing his playstyle or reworking it will make him bland.
Valeera is working as intended. She’s a hard follow up stealth hero who essentially amplifies ganks of other heroes and secures the kill. Stealth makes it easy for her to initiate when she wants in this manner. She’s not a wow rogue who can stun lock an enemy solo and 100 to 0 them and I wish people would stop expecting that from her. She’s about the garrote silence window. If she struggles to finish off a solo outside of that it is working as intended, it’s the price she pays for powerful initiation. Again changing her will risk making her bland.
When you have so many assys you have to keep them fresh to keep them interesting. Reworks can be bad sometimes because they change this or homogenised things. Reworks are only necessary where a playstyle is totally weak as to render the hero fruitless. None of those qualify for that in my opinion. As they serve a role and perform it well without it being completely made redundant by another hero.
