The unending updatre

Is what causes disconnects for me, has anyone found this to be true? Everytime the battle net does “update” for hots, I get disconnected from the game and I’m unable to re-join the same game.

I think I have a fix for that.

In the Battlenet settings, set the Battlenet app to close when a game is started, or simply make sure Battlenet is closed while you’re playing. If that doesn’t work and the game still updates while you’re playing and while the Battlenet app is closed, here’s a workaround that I do. I’ve also never faced that issue ever so this next part might just work.

Put the HeroesSwitcherx64 as a desktop shortcut and load the game from there.
(found in Program Files(x86) > Heroes of the Storm > Support64)

You’ll have to sign in each time but you’ll bypass the Battlenet app. If the game ever does get updated for real, it’ll prompt you to update it via the Battlenet app. It won’t update while you’re playing because the Battlenet app is closed and you didn’t launch the game from there.

That’s the only viable workaround. The client patch Loop for Hots is really quite appalling for a AAA company. While I understand Hots is no longer supported, they did say in the patch notes that they would “maintain client stability.” I guess in a sense they have, as this loop had been going for at least 10 months when they released the full maintenance mode message.

Regardless, it’s dreadful form and should be fixed.

I don’t think they have. There’s nothing about stability when phantom patch forces you to disconnect from the game, while you’re in game.

I agree they should fix it, but they’re not going to. If I remember right they said this issue was “solved”.

Why didnt I think of that, lol. Thank you for the tips.

Did it work?

Oh yes, I quite remember that. Paraphrasing the Blue Post: “It’s solved because even if it seems like the same bug, we fixed that. This is a new bug that just does the same thing, this thread is closed and marked as resolved.”

I wasn’t under any doubt of what Blizzard had become, had I been that would have dispelled any notion of even basic CS.

It worked! Thank you.

First I tried to close out the battle.net app and play but i got disconnected again, when it started to update by itself.

After putting x86, havent been DC since.

Thanks!

A while back when it seemed like Battlenet was perpetually “updating” even when there was no update, and fans complained? I don’t think they ever fixed it. They just kinda disabled the little dialog bar that would pop up and sorta shoved it into the background. So we don’t actively see it endlessly updating.

Glad to hear it. Hopefully they fix it once Microsoft takes over.
