Hello, thank you for your response. My biggest issues with the disconnect replacement AI are:
-An AI diablo at 80% hp that would actually run away from me when I pinged it. After a few tries I finally pinged it and then watched diablo walk away from me all the way back to our keep and tap the well before it would start following me properly.
-A rehgar that would not heal me or attack enemies or use any abilities in a 2v1 situation.
-A greymane that would not help me take a camp or do any action, just walked around in circles while I captured a spearmen camp on shrines.
The skill level of the replacement AI is really terrible, it is adept at best. If you could at least use a sliding scale for disconnect replacement AI (beginner for bronze, intermediate for silver, adept for gold, veteran for plat, elite at diamond/master) that would help a lot.
The replacement AI does not naturally come to objectives. The ONLY way to get it to consistently come to an obj is to ping it. Otherwise it will sit in lane almost all game.
If you can resolve any of these three things it will help a lot, as a disconnect at gold+ levels is almost always a loss (and it looks like we will never get loss forgiveness).
AI dodges on the move from “E” Kerrigan, 99% Dodge Jaina “W” and Ring of Frost. This AI that is now = cheat. Who are not dodging abilities as they are !!! Playing is just disgusting. Criticize = suggest. You can for example make a delay of half a second or 1 second, before reacting. That’s how people play.
I know you have a best looking ahead,you work for AI ,it is a long time purpose and need more time for Customer and more time for waiting.basically,Hots work in this way(long time purpose).
AI is always a big problem in every game,working with AI as a customer or manager need some Intellectual intelligence system and so it is not simple and need more work and also need more Encouragement،.
Some time i think Blizzard Costumer and Manager of blizzard is very similar to me(Daylan77).

Would it be possible to adjust the AI in the Tutorial? last time I checked, the veteran challenges were hellish, especially the zeratul mission. So many things changed, from raynor rework, towers ammo, ai changes …
How about you punish these people who are dropping game or afking at base so you dont get as much A.I in games?

Thank you very much kind friend for being the second example of intelligence in these forums since i first wrote here. A real argument with value, incredible.
I have seen the video and have therefore formulated a new opinion about the current situation regarding the A.I. in hots.
I now realize- thanks to you- that using intuitive ai is not something that a game with such low budget as hots is going to do; that doesn’t mean though that the technique that mr. gu is using to improve our AI is in any way acceptable; the amount of work required to achieve mediocre results is herculean and the amount of game knowledge required is just as huge.
I do not doubt that he has good, yet obviously naive intentions, so i remain expectant of the results of his year long labor. I can only guess that all who expect something decent and competitive will be disappointed, as i already was the moment i read how he was trying to solve the problem.
I can only hope intuitive Ai becomes cheap quick enough for us to not need to suffer primitive Ai for long.

it would be super cool to see when for games the AI can match to the player level, being just barely better (a challenge to overcome) or just barely worse (making a campaign in games challenging without being unfair)
just to be clear: the video is not mine.
I think the larger issue from the video is that whenever a character’s abilities or talent tree changed (and when a new character is added) you would need to retrain them.
Although a deep learned AI for map movement and objective value/etc is something that I think could be viable (if it had been started in 2014-2015, when HotS development budget (seemingly) was fairly large).
This will without a doubt happen eventually, but i feel sorry for Mr. Gu, undertaking a Sisyphean labor until that day comes.
Thank you for monitoring the AI and making updates. As someone who only plays vs AI, have noticed the changes through the years. They have gone from Macro focus to team fight focus and variations in between. While their team fight ability can be brutal with 100% accuracy, perfect coordination, zero latency, and knowledge of a players HP and how much damage they can put out in a combo to overkill you by <20 HP, their macro game lately has been lacking. Sounds like you have found the issue and are working on it.

The same AI for example Lt. Morales or Stitches, on the same difficulty, may be in one game weak in another strong. This is not normal. If I set the maximum difficulty then the AI should be all strong. Sometimes AI has 0 kills, sometimes they win. Bugs !? I have two complaints, 1. AI should not 100% Dodge skills, for example, they should have a delay when reacting in half a second, or 1 second, 2. AI should always play on the difficulty they are set to. Now the situation is sad, it is already disgusting to play.

Im hoping with the work you’re going to put into the AI, that Elite games will actually hard. I and I think several others would not mind knowing there’s a reasonable chance that you’ll lose against Elite.

Best is if you let us play bots like in wc3 or sc2. Let us take over if a player leaves the game. Just click on the bot and use QWER and than switch back to your own hero. We could set way points and navigate. Should not be that hard to control 2 heroes. We grow up with your RTS games…
Btw the AI was much better mid 2017 and earlier. There must be a hidden bug in the AI game code. Dunno if you can play around and use a patch from early 2017 and try out. Bot AI were much better than as today.

What he says. Mid 2017 was the best AI. After that AI was getting worse and worse. There must be a hidden bug in the AI code. Maybe revert all AI changes after mid 2017 and recover AI from mid 2017.
While the new AI has definitely given me a laugh or 2 I think it did take a few step backwards.
Though I really do appreciate the effort you guys are putting into this and look forward to the changes
How about not giving the ai healers when player team has no healers or supports.
