Hello there team,
I may be late, but I finally got around to using the hotkey for selecting favored talents.
When they created favored talents and even 3 trees for it i was beyond happy, until I found out it does not auto select. Posted my complaints back then.
Well now, with the newest patch, you can do that semi-automatically
Except you canāt really
Why do the game designers stop thinking things through, or only go halfway? This is not meant in any derogatory way, I truly ask this because I canāt comprehend it.
Well have no fear, the solution is here
For everyone who can use a Macro key (or button)
The rest get shafted a bit
Hereās the essential Macro (⦠until Blizzard stops implementing stuff in increments):
- This tutorial assumes your hotkeyās are
- āNā for Talent Selection
- āPā for Quick Talent Selection Favorite
- You can change these under the Menu āHotkeysā -> āBasicā -> āHero Managementā
- Under you Button / Hotkey create Macro with the following
- Press āNā, wait 10ms, Press āPā, wait 10ms, Press āNā
- Optional
- Make this a Continuous Macro calling itself every 5 or 10 seconds for true semi auto selection.
- Non-Optional
- Truly wonder why Blizzard wants us to use this Macro. The current default of the āQuick Talent Selection Favoriteā key only working when the Talent tree is open is truly mind boggling.
This all might be just a bug on only my end, but I highly doubt it. If so, I would retract all statements, congratulate the Designers for telling the Devs to Program it, be happy and ask for full (optional) automation, if I can do it with a Macro it can not be hard to implement this in-game especially client side.
Making it auto-select is additional functionality. It is steps.
Like getting the AI to select your favorite talents. This is a step in that direction (potentially).
I know, I said this since last patch. It is just mind boggling why they did not implement true hotkey select my talent this patch. It is not that its too hard (or hard at all) to code compared to other stuff they do.
Donāt get me wrong, iām happy they implemented it, its just the, weird way getting there, that makes no sense. Especially the point 4 ^^ā
I guess and dream that in another major 2-4 patches we might get true in-game autoselect as you mentioned,⦠soooo, mid next year hopefully ?
Iām confused. Why canāt you just see āLevel up!ā appear and flash on the left side of your screen, take less than a second (or a second I guess if you donāt hit it that often) and just hit CTRL+` to auto select?
No offense, but N and P are in weird spots on the keyboard in the heat of the moment, at least for me, so the default CTRL+` is a god send.
cause for me i want a one button solution. ctrl + āxā is harder than one button. especially if you watch finger positioning.
You can do it, it works, no arguments, but its harder, for me and most
Well, itās CTRL+`, which your left hand should be resting at anyways, as your ring finger is near the 1234qwe range, so itās a small bend, while at the same time CTRL is near the bottom left of your palm, at least for me. Itās a good keybind, but setting up a macro seems⦠kinda weird, at least to me.
Iām not sure where you even got those keybinds for the talents+pick, unless itās just something you changed it to, as CTRL + 1-4 (or 5 for Leoric I think, on 20?) has always been the āquickā way prior to this change to grab a talent you wanted, as CTRL opens the talent screen, and you can say āOh right, second oneā, so youād go CTRL+2, but now with the favorites, itās even easier and requires no thinking. CTRL+` and call it a day
Because I may be hyper-focused on a fight at the moment. Having to select it manually puts you in a bit of a catch-22. Do you stop paying attention to the fight for a second or two, which could cost you the fight, or do you simply keep fighting without the talent, which could cost you the fight.
Either way, nobody should have any reason to complain about people being able to turn on automatic talent selection, especially if you can toggle it in-match.
This is why they need to just go ahead and add it, instead of having to use workarounds
I understand that there is the whole āwell maybe you donāt want to always use the same build!ā argument some make but⦠I think most people use the same build 90%+ of the time on the characters they love.
