Hy,
I bought my first hero. I picked illidan. I can’t use him. Why is he good? Youtube dosen’t show me any usefull abouth him.
You shouldnt have picked illidan
Valla was a better choice for you.
playing illidan now is much hectic, because of lots of stuns and blinds in the game. But still…
What build did you try? lemme know. I played a lotttttt of illidan back in early days, and still played him a bit lately… I may help you out a bit in builds
I can’t tell any talent lane. I think i have to pick talents as an occasion. If enemy team have this, then i have to pick this talent, and the main question wich map i’m playing on.
For example: The hunt R skill is the better opption on the Cursed hollow map, but on the 2 lane maps it’s not the better opption. At least i think.
I don’t understand this hero. Why does he have talent against basic attack dmg, when he have a skill against it on baseline? Lvl 7 “give 25% hp after my skill dmg” talent gives after immolation (lvl 1 talent)? and the after the lvl 16 talents too?
Demon form why does give bonus hp and not baseline armor? How does it work the demon form hp bonus on lvl 20?
hm-hm… this hero really very hard.
You should pick a easier melee hero to start with like qhira or something.
Indeed it is
its easy to play, but verrrrrrrrrrrrrry hard to play effectively
Lvl1 =
Immolation (USELESS, very little damage)
Battered Assault (BEST, makes your damage n selfheal shoot up if hit 2 hero)
Unending Hatred (OKAY, if you gonna be laning a lot in maps like tomb of spider)
Lvl4
Rapid Chase (OKAY For aggressive play)
Friend or Foe (OKAY, for safer play bcoz can dive on allies)
Unbound (GOOD = I use this one, get 2 charges n keep damage bonus up)
lvl7
Reflexive Block (OKAY = against butcher or high AA damage hero only)
Thirsting Blade (BEST bcoz it increase % of damage return as health)
Hunter’s Onslaught (NOT GOOD, bcoz you dont build ur talents on ability damage)
lvl10
Metamorphosis (GOOD = In team-fight centered objective like volskaya, raven lord, etc,)
The Hunt (GOOD = allows u to soak and quickly join team fight from far away)
lvl13
Nimble Defender (OKAY= 25 armour granted for 2 second)
Elusive Strike (GOOD= against AA heroes, as it make your E ready faster)
Sixth Sense (GOOD against high dps mages)
Lvl16
Marked for Death (NOT GOOD, unless you take HUNTERS ONSLAUGHT)
Fiery Brand (GOOD ,but only with METAMORPHOSIS & DEMONIC FORM at 20)
Blades of Azzinoth (GOOD, i use this, super high damage, 2 sweeiping strike charges from UNBOUND lvl4 talent make u get this ready fast fast=more damage=more heal)
lvl20
Demonic Form (GOOD, if chose FIERY BRAND this good)
Nowhere to Hide (USELESS, global sight for low health, not really much helpful)
Nexus Blades (GOOD, with BLADES OF AZZINOTH & BATTERED ASSAULT lvl1 talent = super high damage = super high healing)
Bolt of the Storm (USELESS, teleporting to nearby location not much of a use)
Hope you found something of help there
Nah, it’s not useless. Immolation is the go-to talent at Grand Master (video courtesy of Fan, current gm#10) with a far higher win rate than the other two talents.
Even then, Illidan is a very niche hero with a super high skillcap. I would not be picking him in low leagues at all, there are so many easier heroes that wont be shut down as easily by blinds, stuns, AA slows etc.
Yep i would add you need to know what other heroes can do to you before really picking him up
well, thts new info for me, but i dnt see how 22 damage over time does much, unless its coupled with the Hunter’s Onslaught even then it adds a very tiny heal. N i follow FAN too. Most his talents picks in his games that he streams are because of requests.
Immolation is at its strongest early game to gain small but adding up pve advantages it does fall off mid and late game but also note that this is your only level 1 talent if you face blinds.
Battered assault is the most fun option but experienced players will either spread to avoid procs (especially if you mananged to rock some tfs thanks to procs ) or try to bait you into impaling yourself in their CC barrage , it is very risky.
Unending hatred requires farming and being a more predictable lane farmer.
Lots of experienced illidan players consider(ed) immolation to be the safest pick all-around.
I agree, because getting value out of the other 2 becomes tough at higher level plays.
But at beginner levels, ,up till high gold or low plat, stil, battered assault i guess is the go to talent, unless you play illidan as a solo laner, where u may want to chose the unending hatred
honestly if your just learning, unending hatred is the way to go. its straight forward in application, scales your lifesteal without any other talent picks, and allows you to focus on what you need to be an effective illidan, which is enemy CD’s and your positioning.
The other ones definitely have their place, and i’d argue that once your comfortable, battered assualt will always be better because of the early power spike it gives when you can proc it, but proccing it reliably and effectively (i.e. not killing yourself to do it) can be hard to pick up, especially for a new player.
Tips that helped me learn:
-
PATIENCE!!! You must let your team eat at least some of the enemy CC before you go in.
-
Going in doesn’t mean diving the backline. Hit what you can, when you can. The only safe thing to hit could be a minion, a monster, or even a wall. Be patient.
-
Practice your attack move, so that your always positioning yourself to bodyblock your target, thats how you get those crucial few auto’s in that allow you to stick to your target.
-
You only need sweeping strike to clear/capture camps. Dive is actually a dps loss due to the animation time.
-
BE PATIENT!!! Ok, i know I said that already but its really important. If you want to be a meme in Drlogans thread, roll your face on the keyboard everytime you see the enemy. You want to secure kills and win games? Wait/bait the enemy CC and dont be greedy for that pentakill.
it’s very easy man, you have to see him as something that moves over units.
Talents matter but it’s only the ults that really change the game plan. Rest is only a bit of adaptation to the comps.
Your Illidan lvl is drasticaly tied to your all HotS experience.
Map experience for escapes, chase, trickery or whatever.
All heroes skillshoys and talents for when you dive in, you know when to b, where to move, when use your abilities, etc etc
Basicaly the more you know when to go-in, and go-out, the better you’re a Illidan.
Then it extends to on who to dive, when to be with team, when to do camps, when to be in lane, etc etc
And finally timing your abilities.
As I said, the Illidan lvl is immensely tied to your whole HotS exp. So if you’re new, it’s gonna be hard. You will feel weak and die too quickly and be like wtf this hero is good? But it’s because you don’t understand his strengths yet in the macro game first, and then in the dive/chase/kill/escape combo he’s insane at.
There’s more like he can build to be a batlle monster, usually paired with Abathur, but that’s next lvl
Ok so if you want to start somewhere I redirect you to my very first sentence, for the overall idea you can have in mind.
Then the best way to learn and improve is to follow the goal --> I need to not die, I must not die.
AAAAALLLL the rest will come completely naturally step by step in your mind
Enjoy bro
PS: If you want to dive and kill everyone like a monster and just die, yeah you need to start over
gl hf
Illidan is 4k qhira is 10k
I can understand his choise
pick Friend or Foe if you are afraid to die but if you are afraid to die what is the point of playing Illidan
I wouldnt go as far and say that Immolation is the go-to. Maybe even bit opposite.
In this particular case, Immolation was the only pick because he was probably solo laning a lot and jungling on Volskaya is damn strong (didnt waych vid tbh).
Its more about how you play Illidan in particular game.
Immolation - PvE heavy
Battered Assault - best PvP, but only PvP
Unending Hatred - both
So at the end of the day your choice depends on what are you planning to do ingame. If you gonna lane all the time and jungle, Immolation. If you plan to play more typical solo laning with little jungling (siege here and there), UH. BA is bonkers op if you spend a lot of time with your 4man and heal around. Same applies to ults. Both are good, its just that Illidan alone is mostly viable as macro-bot (that means Hunt).
If they somehow change Illidan, making him less susceptible to CC (doubt that), Immolation will be probably forgotten. Its somewhat similar to Arthas - Sindra is amazing, but ghouls are more useful for him for multiple reasons.
Im not an Illidan pro, I just know how to play macro and its usually enough, but there is basically 1, literally the most important (imo) thing about playing Illidan - you dont engage first when enemy CC is off cooldown.
EDIT - oh, there is also Immolation vs Zagara
This is why I can never play Illidan
Thanks the replies.
I would like to upload my matches and asking for more advices. How can i upload my matches?
FEEL THE HATRED OF 10,000 YEARS!!! blehhhh ded.
you can upload on some google drive or sharing website, and then put link here
22 dps is not worth being in melee range for if you get blinded, so it’s not even good then. It’s good if you have to win the early game and for some reason you don’t want Battered.
OP, if you want to learn illidan, study up on this fellow:
his most recent video: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHvNuzcEfuP4nnvOFVpSTpQ
not every video he releases is about illidan/HotS but he is probably the best Illidan in the world outside of the absolute best players in the world like Rich and he has by far the most content on him aside from possibly Fan (who plays typically with different talents, only did he recently start building the same as Felewin)
