This isn’t an issue for most characters, but it would be nice to be able to disable this functionality for specific heroes, namely Orphea. Her level 4 talent requires 3 stacks of chaos to do bonus damage, and auto attacking prematurely can mess this up. If you delay your Q-follow-up dash, Orphea will likely auto attack during this time as well, unless you press the “hold” command. I enjoy how LoL allows you to disable this functionality because it makes my actions feel more intentional, and would appreciate its inclusion in this game. Being able to stand still and not auto attack (without pressing hold) is something I am very accustomed to. Any thoughts?
EDIT: The config file under your documents folder allows you to disable it. My filepath looks like this: C:\Users\user\OneDrive\Documents\Heroes of the Storm. If you find the variables.txt file, you can set the ProximityAttack=true setting to false, thus disabling your auto attack when idle. This needs to be a setting in the game by default in my opinion.
EDIT 2: Some heroes are unaffected by disabling this setting, like fenix and nova for some reason. Perhaps a quirk as to how they’re coded.

Don’t see why not. Can’t say that it would be of any use to me personally though.

Found out how to disable it. In the config file located in your documents folder (variables.txt) there is a setting called ProximityAttack. Setting this to false disables the auto attack from occurring while idle. This should really just be in the in-game settings, but hey it’s actually there!
Unfortunately this doesn’t solve my issue with Orphea, as it seems heroes are coded to auto attack after using abilities in general, oddly enough. I do enjoy having it off however regardless.

That’s actually a pretty decent find. Will have to bookmark this thread for future reference.
I wonder if there are more hidden options that don’t exist in the client settings, but can be enabled from the variables manually.
Holy crap now I can hopefully make it so that I won’t accidentally wake enemies up when they’re right next to me and I’m trying to run away but my character stops for a tenth of a second and autos them.
You sir are my hero.
When u force move or just simply click to walk, after the hero walk all the way if have any creep near in my game he gona auto attack the creep, the function ProximityAttack just decide if he gona prioratize the target close of your hero or the “force move” input. In other word most close of the click of your mouse or most close of your hero.
For me setting false don t resolve the problem of Auto Attack.
Valira dilema is so frustrating, in some games her Q follow the first hero and auto attack him, in 10 minutes of the same game i see this rule switch like 4 times.
