Stitches discussion

Is all of his power in his hook? In most maps it seems like the stitches who gets a pull and then a kill is the only one who makes the pick worthwhile. Most other times if his team tries to engage in a traditional teamfight (even with bile ult) they are quickly wiped out because stitches can’t peel. How should good stitches players be engaging, is it worth bothering if they miss a hook?

Yes and no.

He is very tanky, does a solid chunk of damage and can sustain near FOREVER in teamfights.

But a lot of time due to his lack of “hard CC” a hook making the fight essentially a 1v5 followed by a 4v5 is required.

One of his (imo underestimated) abilities is that he can shut down big burst mages after level 13. -50% damage dealt for 5 seconds on Devour is very powerful.

Personally I’ve been going:
Savor the Flavor
Playtime (Serrated Edge if they’re mostly ranged)
Blight (Tenderizer if it is QM and they have no healers)
Gorge
Digestive Juices
Fishing Hook
Second Helping

With the rework you actually can do something if you miss hook or get dove on to an extent as you get some utility like armor healing and damage debuffs if you talent on it.
However your success still hinges on landing hooks or not especially late game.
So yes pick stiches if you have good hook landing ratio , if you have good follow up and if you have another bruiser or something very niche like stay awhile deckard.

Stitches has solid damage over time and self-sustain almost to a point he doesn’t “need” heals (with a regular rotation and not sole focus) but the usual issue I’ve seen tends to come from the players — they toss the hook, miss, and then hide behind everyone else. They’ll be the last one to die in team fights (getting more time for dots to tick) and then rant wt the rest of the team at how much better they are — ya know, despite missing every hook — and also tend to be the sort of player that takes gorge, and then gorges the absolute worst target — either saving an enemy that was getting focused, or dumping a dive hero on his own teams backline.

I think I’ve seen more moshpits succeed because of a stitches gorge than any other duo -.-

So, I do think stitches is “better” than is usually let on, but the players that gravitate toward him seem little better doofuses and griefers.

I believe his power has been spread out ever since the rework yes I still think its the most in his hook but I think his W, poison and bile plays a big role in his gameplay.

I think most of his power comes from his hook and his substain.
If you take away his hook he has some awesome damage for a tank. Both his ults are good. Strong talents And his hero radius is also huge so you can bodyblock incomming attacks

I forgot to say his waveclear is also good

yeah, forgot to mention this–played about 20 games as Stitches the last week or so… Very powerful lane bully! It was funny to be “outbullying” Zagara. Although I think the Zagara was playing worse than I.
