They’ve been around and quite prevalent in the ANZ community for a select few.
Honestly though, it might help prevent them from getting ganked etc but doesnt help with skill.
I’m in 2 minds whether this announcements about thia topic will help it.
On 1 hand blizz needs to know but on the other hand if they dont care enough about it, all thats being done is to advertise for the hack.
Well, since they brought back brawls, I think we have to show evidence to the person or people who are still working on this game. Back then, they said brawls were expensive to maintain, and we wouldn’t see them coming back. Now we have brawls, so why not anti-cheat as well?
Cheat program users are not banned instantly. They are usually banned in waves or after some delay to make it harder for the cheat program developers to iterate and try and break detection. As such it is entirely possible for a person to be cheating for several matches before they are banned.
I think communicating such bans to the players might help. Such as “we just caught and banned a cheater that was in one of your matches”. They do (did?) this for players you reported that ended up punished.
It sucks they exist, but as WhyDaRumGone said the vast majority of people using it don’t know how to translate full vision into match wins so I don’t really care.
At the highest level (competitive and grandmaster) it’s a minuscule advantage because those players generally know the position of the enemy at all times and even when they don’t, they don’t overextend so ganking them is hard to impossible.
Yeah it should be patched, but it’s not a huge threat to the integrity of the game, unlike the Medivh exploit last month.
1 like (mine) for the OP? What are you folks, bots? Why posting on this important topic, to say the least, get only 1 and answers get more? Please do some meta on this forum.
Something different from the usual drama, but I created this topic to address the denial that map hacks in Heroes of the Storm don’t exist. Cheaters are often labelled as too good, and, normally, they can predict the enemy team’s hero positions.
The reply and the video provide sufficient evidence that it was pure cheating, and such an unfair advantage shouldn’t exist, even if the cheater lost the game. Playing against stacks of 3-4 is a huge disadvantage to most of us, but also using map hacks is just too much unfairness.
Hopefully, the employee or employees who still work on this game to address the following issues. I know that every patch we received since the return of brawls, or even before, has had bug fixes. Please update the anti-cheat system, or if not, create a new one. When we missed brawls, the stance from past developer was that they are expensive to maintain, which you can see in the actual image in the link below:
So since the brawls are back in the roster, the game received somewhat of financial support to keep brawls in the game. Now we want an effective anti-cheat system that will ban those cheaters and find ways to prevent such game exploitation.
I’m not sure if this person is the official developer or moderator, but I can only hope he works for the development team. Here’s what he said, if we can believe the response is legit.
Reminds me of that scene in the matrix, with Agent Smith telling Neo “What good’s seeing the whole map, if your allies have no eyes” and then Neo screams in absolute horror as his allies don’t react to pings and chat, continuously getting ganked and refusing to invade enemy camps.
As to “when we will get rid of them”, I’d say next Tuesday is the earliest; hopefully until Monday, they’re working on the matchmaking for QM (which likely affects more than the 100 people or so constantly participating in private tournaments with real prizes, where people might have a reason to hack).
About the developer saying “we will take care of this”: 5$ on them banning the hacker, and that’s all the action being taken. Even in bigger games with active development, it’s common for the pros & influencers to get their complaints checked by actual people and minimal action taken quickly, while commoners use the automated report system, which is a lot slower and more prone to misjudgements (false positives and false negatives). Simply put, it’s just PR and game-influencer symbiosis: if popular people say the game is sh1t (doesn’t punish hackers, for example) then playercount takes a hit, which in the long run hurts both the streamer and the game. If the devs make the streamer happy, the game will appear to take care of things (hackers, for example), and the streamer won’t have to find something new to live off.
TL; DR: I wouldn’t exactly read that statement as “we’ll fix hacking”, more of a “we’ll punish this 1 instance of hacking”.
people don’t deny that hacks, and other exploits exist. That’s pretty much a strawman.
What tends to be the issue is that common complainers ‘cry wolf’ about cheating and use that as an excuse for them to not learn to play better, adapt their talent picks, and effectively limit what they know about the game because it’s much easier to find something to blame instead.
The replay method here stands out in short segments, but there are also experienced cheaters that limit how they use the information they see so it doesn’t appear to be cheating in the same way. However, there are also players that do actually use the minimap, or make use of lingering moments of vision, or take a guess because they know the timing of the map, esp since objectives are all scripted so players also end up moving in predictable ways.
However, for a player that doesn’t learn any of those quirks, if they think ‘everyone is cheating’ then they rationalize for themselves to hack or cheat ‘too’, and that fuels people to try to find new hacks, cheats, or exploits.
No, you just seem like one of those bad players that will come up with any excuse as to why the game is stacked against you. Map hacks DO exist and people who use them are sleazy, but they are not a huge widespread problem, especially in a game like HOTS.
Regardless of being good or bad, pointing out cheating is not an excuse. But if you defend cheating, that’s your opinion. In this game, neither player can win the match; it’s the team that wins.
And it’s a huge problem for the remaining players, because cheating exists in all modes, and it’s not only on high-level Storm League.
If you watch the replay, you would notice that the Valeera player complained, but also killed the cheater many times rather than simply giving up. That player and his team won the game, but he didn’t have the joy of playing against a cheater. His complaints were map hacks, not that the Valla player was better, or that he played vs stacks.
A tiny community of granny posters -mostly- that decides what “seems like”. They like each other’s posts, answer each other’s posts and despise every other ones. Bias, prejudices all along.
But they don’t care, they dismiss new posters, fair players, only because their mood decided for them to do so. And instead of thinking new, they just bark, and follow the pack.
And then they go back to their kennel, pretending everything is great with the greater MM any MOBA ever knew. That the best decisions were made by the masters a long time ago. And they “feel like” they remain the guardians of those. While instead, they gnaw their remaining bones.
Alt, you’re part of the granny posters lol. You’ve been here for many years drolling on like a helpless baby.
If you’re bad and instinctually jump to map hacks or stacks or whatever issue for why you are losing, then you’re going to keep scapegoating things, things which do exist and can be problematic, as big wide spread boogiemen. We of course would all love for map hacks to disappear, but tough luck, you don’t create the map hacks, you aren’t the one who can stop them, and even if you were, it’s a constant fight. Like it’s easy to say we want world peace, but only people as shallow as your thinking would think it can be solved just because you think it should be so.
What you can do is get better and not jump to the whiny victim that these are big issues.
Old fart for sure, not drooling on like a dog. Yet. Besides, I am not that much of a big poster, considering the years I played this game. HOTS is great and fun for me, but I have other hobbies.
So you seem to pretend I am losing. Again. “Seem”. Losing players have left. It seems you seem wrong.
So why the OP has 1 ? And grannies (like me) got more?
Only thing I read, is that you “feel” like being good and, once again, try to lecture others upon your feelings, not facts neither reasonning.
This isn’t your first rodeo Alt, when you do post, you whine, like a lot lol. I don’t know or care about your hobbies, I only know about your posts in these forums and that goes the same for my response to Makiwara and their post history. It’s just constant blaming of things, moving goal posts. They and you would enjoy the game more if you actually concentrated on things you can control and not just play victim all the time.
“Move along, nothing to see here.” Constructive criticism is whining now.
Considering what you wrote, there is nothing to do to get the MM better, to adapt the rules to the new population of HOTS since the last 4 years? It’s not like there were no updates like in the past years.
New people still come playing, mostly solo/duo players; I just try to find, like others here, a way for them to stay. The game is good, still attractive, and despite the opinion of a tiny crowd on this forum, HOTS isn’t dead.
On the topic, maphack is real and too old/recurrent to be dismissed like some do.
It’s not constructive. You are complaining about the amount of likes a poster got lol. And you’re elevating that this topic should be “important”. But you don’t seem intelligent enough to understand that no one wants map hacks and map hacks, as annoying as they are, really aren’t as prevalent or as important in a game like HOTS. You think you can just snap it away, just because you think it’s a big problem. Sorry, real life doesn’t work like an Avengers movie. Just think just a tiny bit more.
Like, what is Blizzard gonna do, send in a massive gestappo into people’s rooms for everyone that map hacks? Seriously, what is your proposal for Blizzard to do more than monitor and do occasional ban waves when they detect it. Oh, but that’s not good enough for the brilliant mind manifested ALtprime. They’re going to magically stop all people who make these hacks and try to circumvent detection. .
You were whining way before the population got low as it is now. And thinking new rules will somehow magically make things better when the core issue is the population. Like you really think to just “make it better” actually will lol. As if the matchmaker can just magically concoct better matches just because you say it will.
