I feel like overwatch is a bit behind on the ‘what-if’ type situations for its characters. For Warcraft, fans have speculated over this that or another shuffle, and we see some of that in the nexus (Altered Fated Sentinels, Dreadlord Jaina) or for Diablo, you have corrupted angels or angelic demons and cross-faction iterations for Starcraft.
So with the Crafts event going on, I was thinking it’d be fun if some of the Overwatch characters had had their own crossovers with themselves but in maintaining friendly stereotypes.
Imagine if Tracer wasn’t a pilot strapped to a time machine, but was instead a Q-like inventor – literally British Intelligence – that still kept the ‘animal rage’ of Winston’s heroic, but cast in the typical ‘polite british’ posh. Wiston is then a displaced monkey from the space-race era that has the time machine and spouts inspiring battlecries.
Hanzo is a fan of the spaghetti western genre (movie buffs might know of the history and influences between classic samurai flickers, westerns and spaghetti westerns) and McCree is recast with the influences of Lars Anderson as a Larpcher.
Roadhog is the musical rebel of australia with the influence of Men at Work played on a flaming didgeridoo and Lucio is a space-age mining and demoman. (combining the space program and deep sea tech of today’s rio into a future forecast for overwatch)
