I decided to start playing the game again about a month ago and it’s been pretty fun, however this past week or two has just been pretty hell, its just been toxic players and trolls who just AFK or solo half the match or never help the team at all throughout the game. It’s been very bad players back to back and i’M not talking about noobies, just people who are A-holes throwing games wanting too just ruin the experience, I was playing with good players for a while lost some and won some, but now it’s just trolls that i’m being matched with back to back…
Wish the player base was big enough to where blizzard could add a feature like overwatch where you can continue next games with good players that you play in a previous match a lot easier.
Ban waves seem kinda pointless where anyone can make unlimited amounts of accounts.
Your best bet is have friends to fill out the whole group. Otherwise you will always run the risk of undesirables joining your party.
When I play games that have an online portion and it’s filled with griefers, I just plain stop playing the game. Eventually the game will either die, or will be filled with trolls trolling each other.
I always felt that game will be more tolerable if players had to pay to have an account to play HOTS. Banning credit cards would be easier to do, I would think.

Yah, at this point bans don’t stop people like that. Some dude a buddy of mine once brought along to play lost at least a dozen accounts from what I heard. A few times he would join us and basically every time that guy had yet another account, because the previous one got a ban. He always would troll, feed and flame others when playing solo, because “I don’t care, I just make a new account.” and always trying to “defend” his actions, saying the others deserve to being flamed and their games thrown for being bad, swearing at those players and Blizzard alike.
But yah, I stopped to play with this person because of this mindset.

This. /w (whisper) good players from your last team and ask if they want to group up.
That’s how I made some HotS friends in 2015-2016 that lasted to this day. Some wanted to friend up even during the match itself.
There will be no official grouping features and as Mumrah said these trolls can just keep making endless accounts, so ban waves will do little to curb them either.

This mostly. When I was still playing I saw two players bragging about it only takes 10 min to make a new account and then continue trolling. There are no point at banning accounts in a F2P game cause it mostly does nothing to those that troll in this game as thier hobby.
Only people it would effect would be veterans who want to keep his collection of stuff he got through the years. Losing a 8 year old account you spend that much time on would make him uninstall the game and never come back.
Trolls on the other hand dont care about hero collections or cosmetics you could earn in the past.
They troll they get banned and create a new account and do it again. Also for that reason I dont see this game becoming any better in the future when trolls are running rampart on thier 15th smurf account and toxic 5 stacks are making alot of solo players leave.

And it’s even worse now because of the low playerbase count. New players are matched with old players, so they can start trolling right from the start. In the past new players were matched with new players only, but now…
I remember when I first started playing in 2017 or something, I only got matched with newer accounts and only really started seeing old ones after 100+ levels.
A couple years ago I made a new one just to see how it was, and the first game was already with players around level 1k+.

Push lanes and be patient sometimes your teammates need time for the alcohol/weed to either take effect or wear off.
I still think blizzard should put in the effort in banning people regardless, also last time I checked their is a way they can IP ban people, meaning if they try to make a new account it won’t work. If not, then they really need to make a system that bans the person and any other new account they try to make. most online games these days have IP ban for the most part.
I don’t agree with IP banning just now, but I agree with,
It’s the only thing I want from HotS right now. I care less about whatever mode MM, I care less about having no new stuff. If only Blizz just suspends trolls/afkers in any mode. 3 strikes/suspension = ban, whatever formula (a strike removed if good behavior for whatever months).

Instead of IP banning, forcing a 2FA with phone number could be enough, you won’t change phone number everyday like you could for a mail address

Most games are moving away from IP bans as static IP addresses are getting less and less common everyday.
As Woto suggested, requiring 2 factor authentication for account creation would go a long way in making it more of a hassle to create new accounts to circumvent bans.

Yes, this would probably not get rid of trolls but would definitely control a lot of them. Sure they can still get new numbers and all, but it would take a lot more effort instead of just making a new email and 5 minutes you’re already playing.

lol the report system is so broken that limiting accounts would be even more foolish rofl
Well they need to do something because its been pretty bad these past couple of week, its been people with pretty old accounts for the most part, thats been doing all of the trollen, people say they make new accounts but I dont think that’s the case for most because when you look at their hero LV or account, they been playing the game for some years hell some have OG accounts.
When I was researching locks for a locker. I learned about levels of security and no lock is unpick-able. It is the time spent trying to break in and the trouble it would cause the person trying to break in. Is it worth it? The risk of getting caught while working on the lock.
Making it harder to make new accounts would turn people off from putting in the extra effort. While it takes 5 minutes to get back to trolling, requiring a wait time for a new account to be activated could potentially turn off new players.
I suggested banning credit card numbers, but I have no idea how this would work, since people would be averse to paying for the game. The game could be $5 or $10 for a new account.
Then comes the biggest issue: the moderation and control of reports. It can be too easy to ban someone wrongfully, with the current setup.
Sorry for the incoherence, I’m tired.

That’s exactly the point that people seem to not understand, when your IP ban you pretty much have to move to another home, not like oh im ban i’ll just use a new email and make a new account. The phone number thing im kinda scratching my head on tho and I think you should have an option to give a company your phone number.
I prefer this idea to IP bans that are easy to get around. I understand Hots is a F2P game, but it doesn’t have to be for new accounts only. As you suggested, they could charge $10 or even $20 to make a new account, and throw in one of the Mega hero bundles to add value for the asking price.
Such a measure would make Hots some money, and I think it would slightly deter those who make revolving door troll accounts every couple of months.

Paying for accounts to be able to play the game you would need a 100% working report system in place aswell. Getting false reported and then suspended/banned on an account that you payed for hurts alot.
I could see it work just fine against trolls that only play to report spam everyone cause he hate the company. Surely they would never open thier wallet for a company they hate cause getting banned is now not something that goes unpunished.
That’s an excellent point Froggy, for some reason maybe I forgot about the junky report Hots currently enjoys.
I’m not sure what change could be made to curb troll accounts. IP bans really don’t work, I’m hardly tech-savvy, and even I know how to get around that.

Can we really afford to ban people with the state the game is in?
