So when will pyroblast require some brains to use?

It could be a balanced heroic or whatever.

Balance aside though, why is it so braindead? You see a nova, hanzo, sylvanas, other assassin below 70% hp, you press one button. Okay.

Also, even if the kaelthas player doesn’t cast the heroic once the whole game, it still gets insane value by forcing everyone on the enemy team to take their ice block and spell shield talents

Just make it take more skill please

Nullifying an entire heroic with spell shield or ice block (a regular talent) is a pretty darn good trade off. Even better if you can get it completely free with no need for talents (like Jaina’s free Ice Block after she deals 15,000 frost damage)

Your single talent pick removed an entire heroic ability from the opposing team against you.

Yea listen it’s all good in theory.

Then you use some brains and realise the kaelthas picks pyroblast, 4 out of 5 enemy team heroes forced to pick iceblock/spell shield, and kaelthas spends the rest of the game pyroblasting the 5th hero hanzo who has no iceblock and got free value out of forcing iceblock spell shields picks from everyone else while still getting full value out of pyroblast.

So you force lunara to have no level 13 talent because she picked spell shield, then you spend the rest of the game pyroblasting the lunara’s ally, sylvanas. Lmao

Also why are we discussing the balance of this ability and not the design?

I mean iceblock is almost a mustpick for most of the heroes who have it anyways. Jaina literally had it built into her kit because it was so necessary. If you draft a healer/tank who can avoid the dmg then you’ve gotten rid of it entirely (divine shield, bunker, spell shield). Finally he does have a sizable cast time where you can interrupt him and put it on cooldown. Just because its point and click doesn’t mean that it requires no skill. Varian taunt is point and click, illadin hunt is point and click with unlimited range at 20. Neither of those are broken abilities.

It’s not a 1v1 game. There are countless ways your allies can save you if you play Hanzo and the enemy KT pyroblasts you. Even something like Tassadar’s plasma shield can save your life, or Brightwing’s talented Pixie dust, Force of Will, Morales Safeguard, Uther armor… All basic abilities.

Not to mention in a 1v1 scenario Hanzo can interrupt Pyro faster than Kael can cast it, with Dragon’s Arrow.

This actually requires a brain. Ive seen stitches with full health being pyrod. Im master

When I played HL in Diamond, yeah… that sounds about right.

I would argue that it requires a brain to use as i have to choose someone stupid enough to not have picked a counter to use it on.
Or better who picks spell shield but never has the brain to push the button to use it.

As a Nova main I laugh in the face of Pyroblast.
Get the armour talent at 13, and it tickles.

I don’t know why OP used the Hanzo example. If neither party has allies to help them Hanzo will win that trade. Pyro wont go off fast enough before the stun.

And if this theoretical fight is at 20, Hanzo can even take the stunning Sonic Arrow (E) to interrupt that cast near instantly.

There are only a few heroes that are truly destroyed by Pyro in 1v1. Some I can think of are Ana and Malfurion. If you’re on something like half health and the cast happens, you’re dead no matter your talent picks. I’m actually really sad they removed Ice Block from Malfurion.

I think you may be getting Planar confused with my good friend Plario, who was in the forum tourney. He played Vikings.

I am all in for reworking Pyroblast, if for anything because it’s so useless and has a bad sync with Kael’s kit.

The issue is the speed and how Kael’thas objectively does more damage while NOT using his Ult. This is why Phoenix is picked while Pyro is still a narrow niche. Let’s trade weaknesses on the Pyroblast, shall we?

Pyroblast v4 (we promise it’ll be good this time)
Mana Cost: 80
Cooldown: 70s
Casting Time: 0.5s
Range: 13 (reduced by 13%)
Missile Speed: 4 to 16
(scales up with time, starts slower but gets even faster than before)
Damage: 360 to 720 based on distance (4% scaling, reaches full damage at 20 range)
AoE radius: 3 (does full damage to everyone)
Additional Functionality: Reduces movement speed by 30% for 4 seconds.
Lost Functionality: No longer completely undisjointable. Moving 5 units away after the projectile is 2 units or closer to the character automatically cancels the tracking.

What would this mean? First, you get somewhat the previous Pyroblast where movement abilities can disjoint it. Furthermore it isn’t up to some weird kinks but pre-determined parameters thus executing it would be both fair and something you can calculate on both sides. The slow effect is also helpful as it enables you to position to lay down the rest of your abilities, especially your Grav Lapse to begin the combo.
I don’t say this idea is perfect and likely needs some numbers tuning but I feel it’d make me consider Pyroblast as an option rather than feeling it’s a waste.

Talents are there for this exact reason: they give you the chance to adapt to your opponents choice.
They’re not there just to boost your stats, but also to counter enemy’s pick. If picking a talent will completly negate an entire ulti, it seems like a good trade indeed.

What is this Lightspoon, logic and facts? There is no room for this here. If you’re in QM as Valla vs Pyro KT, whatever you do don’t even take the Gloom talent! It’s such trash, 20% spell armor, who wants that?

If you’re a full Orb playing Li-Ming, whatever you do make sure you take Glass Cannon, no Force Armor talent or Diamond skin vs the unbeatable Pyro…oh no no, no!

Never adapt, never surrender, always feed and complain that KT is OP.

Well force armor is already default in orb build. Don’t really need more than that to counter pyro (just hit a Q before catching it).
