So blizzard truly has given up on HoTs huh? Typically new heroes for Hots came out every 6 weeks, and new heroes for overwatch every 3 months. However it’s been 3 months, overwatch got a new hero revealed and no news for HoTs.
Blizzard I know it may seem odd to you but you don’t make a game better but cutting costs. You make it better by putting in more investment, more innovation. Because by cutting costs all you did was give it a death sentence and destroy any chance of it becoming profitable again. Not very logical.
Course all you see and care about is short term numbers. You made a record profit last year and yet still cut 8% of your employees. You have no idea what you audience wants. You respond to the Diablo immortal controversy by promising mobile games for all your IPs. You are so out of touch. Blizzard you used to be such a good company… now you’re just another heartless corporation. No better then EA…
In the past HoTs produced a new hero roughly every 6 weeks, while overwatch every 3 months. That’s how it was. That’s a fact of the universe. But now it’s been 3 months since blizcon and instead of having 2 new heroes by now as would be the case historically we have no news on one after they are getting one.
I don’t think that means what you think it means. Blizzard pulled record profits in 2018. Slower content cycle seems to mean halted content cycle. Because I expected half the dev cycle, it’s less then half if it’s been 3 months without a new hero.
they reworked ana and aba and lqucnhed them feb 12th. Technically reworks count as potential meta shifts.
The next event, lunar festival, should start soon which will bring quests for loot, new skins and mounts.
So i assume next hero will be end of march/early april.
They dont need to release a new hero every 4 weeks. They have reworks planned, themed events, skins/mounts and quests all going on which is plenty to keep me occupied and interested.
That’s what they want though. They already said the game is in maintenance mode and they are not willing to invest on it. That message was not “we are cutting HGC but we want to keep investing in this game”. That message was totally “we don’t care about the game anymore and we will keep trying to get a little bit of money whenever we can but without investing on it”.
We’ll still be getting new heroes, but once we get all the ones that already began production, it’ll probably slow down. HotS isn’t dead but it’s really only got a skeleton crew left working on it.
i think OP is trying to say that it’s been three months for overwatch, meaning their new character is right on schedule; meanwhile it’s been six weeks for us and we have no news
i don’t share the complaint, just figured i’d try to clarify
They released half of the Devs, that means half the work. Heroes are probably going to come out every 8-10 weeks now instead of the 4-6 week cycle they had before.
We’re not even at an atypical dry period yet. We’ve interchanged heroes and reworks for a year now. Ana and Abathur reworks were two weeks ago. That means we’ll probably see a teaser later this week with a PTR next week and a release following that. PAX is at the start of April, so expect another hero then too.
That doesn’t quite matter since the development team was turned into a maintenance team. They may have made record profits, but those profits are not being allocated to resources for this game specifically. If you want to play a blizzard game that received an increased budget, overwatch and hearthstone are right on the launcher.
I agree. I don’t need new heroes at the old rate. What I’d much prefer is that all heroes were equally viable. Reworks and balance changes are superior to new releases, IMO at least.
