So I looked in the mirror and saw I have a crack going up my front tooth

No idea when it happened but I just noticed it tonight when I looked in the mirror absent-mindedly after getting back from a trip to the mountain today… happened to look at my tooth, which has had a dull, kind of like a breeze-blowing-on-it type of feeling all day. It’s my straight up FRONT TOOTH, left side, the moneymaker, the big one, and it’s got a thiiiin little line going up from the base to well, I can’t really tell but hopefully not all the way to the top and past the gums and whatnot. It’s at least 2/3 of the way up the front side of the tooth, don’t even know about the backside. Damn, dude.

Like you have bad dreams about this stuff, stuff happening to your teeth. I really don’t want to have to get a false tooth or something, I hope the dentist can just seal it shut or something. But like… little bit anxious atm, not gonna lie. Not looking forward to dealing with it.

Hopefully treatment is effective enough that I can get it taken care of, and then not even remember that it happened for like 40 years. More than likely though… My worry is that they’re gonna seal it, but then the crack will go up further than they thought and randomly it’s gonna start hurting in like 3 or so years and I’m gonna have to go back in, they’re gonna examine it and be like “oh yep, she’s cracked further up than we thought and the root of the tooth is starting to get infected so we’re gonna have to unplug her and get you a new tooth put in.”

Please… No. Let this be easy.

On the plus side they are getting pretty good at tooth implants now. Bit expensive but look good and are functional.

They may need to simply crown or cap it, don’t panic yet.

I mean, if you think about it, most celebrities don’t even have their original teeth. They either have augmentations or completely replace their old teeth with new porcelain ones.

Just look at before and after photos of celebrities before they got famous and after.

My first reaction is always:

:exploding_head:

Life is over! I’m going to be crippled and on meds for the rest of my life. It’s probably cancer. AHHH!

Then you go and find out it’s nothing like you feared. Good luck, I hope it ends up being an easy fix, or at least not as bad as you thought.

You’ll be ok, friend. I have a giant hole in my back molar that has been there the last decade. With no dental insurance to fix it, it just is slowly falling apart.

At least you have the insurance to do the repair. I hope all goes well.

I worry about my teeth too. I wouldn’t want to have them be damaged. Maybe when I’m old and forgotten, I’d let it slide…

nope. Freelancing doesn’t give health insurance, just gotta work :s at least i don’t hate my work anymore though

yeah if money isn’t an issue lol I’d be happy to look dentally fantastic. But I’m not starring in any upcoming movies. Maybe I should make a samuro montage and ask for money  or better, keep working on writing music. And maybe in 10 years I can pay for some teeth. Well, tooth.

At least the one that’s cracked is also one that’s had a very minor chip in it for years now. It’s not really visible because it’s a chip off the backside, making the tooth slightly sharper than it would be otherwise (and it’s been filed down to make it more stable)… So if this tooth gets replaced or whatever… hopefully not, but at least it’s the tooth in my mouth that’s in the worst condition.

But I’m super uncomfortable no matter what. Especially because I don’t know how much it’s gonna cost to do whatever procedure they decide needs to be done :S

Bruh look up payment plans. Most dental places do them. I had a homie who had to have a tooth pulled out and replaced with a permanent tooth. It costed him $3700 in Australia BUT there was a payment plan and was paid off within a year. You do need the initial $500-700 first but after that, payment plan. Easy game. You’ll be able to ask your crush Chen out by next year.

So they might be able to save it with a root canal perhaps? Enquire about it. Better sooner then later.

I can’t speak to this, but I will say I developed a crack in an incisor and it was mostly superficial, and was crowned. Rather inexpensive and painless, don’t panic, it might be easily treatable. It’s hard, but never self diagnose.

Have you thought about replacing it by a gold tooth ? :stuck_out_tongue:

Does it cost 10.000 gold?

No idea. Appt is on monday. The pain is gone now but the crack is still there. It goes up like 66% of the front side of the tooth but obv I can’t see the backside so we’ll see. It’s soooooo thin, you can barely see it. But it’s definitely there. So idk how much it will cost, my guess is crown/veneer or something. I have pretty good teeth I think so it feels weird to be getting something like this. I’m happy that at least also this cracked tooth is the one with a chip on the incisor portion of it (I mean its my left front top tooth it’s just the bottom backside chipped in college and so it was a little sharper/thinner on the bottom than it should have been, got files down for stability, now if the tooth gets capped I’ll never have to worry about that chip again either probably so in that regard I’m stoked)

:crossed_fingers: $ :crossed_fingers:

Sorry to hear that. Get yourself a good dentist and i mean good not mr bobs off the shelf crap kind of dentist. Its better to pay quality than to deal with a bad dentist that is cheaper
