Just saw the snow pop up on Tomb of the Spider Queen.

Aren’t we indoors? How is it snowing here?

I think if someone created a machine that can control weather and temperature, you could make it snow indoors.

But who would do such a thing? A scientist maybe? :thinking::thinking::thinking:

snow is a combination of water starting to crystalize and something stuck to the water particles (called a Condensation Nuculi.)

Either a source of water comes in from above and crystalizes as it transitions from upper Luxoria down into the spider caves, temperatures drop, the water condenses, and it creates clouds for snow formation.

Or, the cavern itself is simply large enough to have its own weather system, and the process is the same, but entirely self-reliant on the cave rather than any area near it.

Er Wang Dong is a cave over in China that has its own weather system. I haven’t looked into the particulars of it getting snow or what not inside, but it is a known example of caves with their own weather.

edit addition: dry ice can be used to make indoor snow. If have water directly on the frozen CO2, it’ll turn the water to solid ice. If you put a wet large coin upright into the dry ice, the freezing water will instead turn to snow on the edge of the coin. So having something to ‘bond’ with the water as it freezes makes a difference as it collects, and falls.

I mean, if you’ve seen her raid encounter in Battle for Azeroth, she can do some cool stuff. A lot cooler than just a blizzard and some frostbolts.

I don’t think snow would form naturally in a cave system as the temperature in a cave is fairly constant throughout the year. Funny thing with snow, is that it’s formed from deposition (direct gas to solid) of water rather than standard freezing. Freezing of water normally results in sleet, though freezing rain happens through temperature inversions, and then hail is through freezing and re-freezing as the ice crystal falls and gets flung upwards again.

I… Might be a bit of a weather nerd.

The way I see it is ETC goes “My people need me” and leaves the world. There’s a new ETC coming down from his people’s planet to replace the previous one.
